My daughter can now adhere to a routine, she is more relaxed and is more comfortable being around other children than before. VMA brings a level of world class care by providing catered meals to children, a large, secure and clean facility right in the heart of Purcellville Peace of mind in conjunction with the Procare app helps parents keep track of their child's day with status updates and photos of how your little one is doing. Small classroom sizes really allow caretakers to focus individually on each child and the Montessori approach to education is fully utilized. This is not just daycare, this is a mindful well executed approach to looking after the most precious little one in your life. I highly recommend Virginia Montessori Academy.

First: it's safe. It feels clean, visually appealing, door locks and cameras everywhere. There is an easy app check in check out. Plus!!! They have healthy got lunch - no more packing lunch! Everyone who works here has a big smile on their faces - something that felt really important to us. The two teacher in the preschool: Miss Kim and Miss Rudy are amazing. Thet care so much about our kiddo, his learning and well being. We get regular photos, updates on what our kiddo is doing, information about his strengths and lots of suggestions about what to do with growing edges. Even though the outside play area is small, the teachers find great ways to use the space. Our son comes home from school happy, talking about all the things he has learned - completely different from the 7 weeks we spent at the other school. I don't know much about the toddler or infant care program, yet I can say all the people who work with the babies seems really dedicated, kind and present. We are beyond thankful for the faculty, staff and this overall school. It's worth every penny! Oh, and if you're a working parent, they are open (for and extra fee) and many of the typical holidays traditional schools take off.

It seems like one of those things you'd have to drive to Ashburn to get, so I'm grateful to have something like it right in Purcellville. We don't do the full after school program as my son is pretty entrenched at Dragon Yong (his friends are there...) but it seems like it's pretty awesome, as you get a different class (piano lessons, science, art) each day.

Thank you to Camp Crowell for turning my indoor-kid (think the Celestial tea sleepytime bear but in…read morechild form) into an outdoor kid for two whole weeks! This was my family's first experience with a Girl Scout camp and I was really impressed with the program. I found it hard to find reviews online about the camp so wanted to give some insight to prospective campers. Here is what you need to know: + This camp is entirely volunteer-led but many of the counselors are repeat volunteers and have even attended as children. Daily communication with counselors is mostly done via text and email. + There are several indoor areas but a majority of the programming takes place outdoors. My daughter just happened to come in during the weeks we were dreaming with an extreme heat wave + intense afternoon storms and the camp took lots of precaution to keep the girls happy, safe, and comfortable. + For allergy moms, they take allergies very seriously! I was so impressed. + Activities include: Obstacle courses, arts and crafts, drama, archery, and planning and executing a cookout. + My favorite part about the camp was their focus on inclusivity and that "every girl is a friend." There was such a wide range of children and adults to meet and the camp did a really great job to meet each child where they were. + Bus transportation is provided and it was the favorite part of my daughter's day. I had half expected for my daughter to quit on the first or second day of camp due to the extreme heat .. and her just not being used to the outdoors but each day she came home she was bubbling with stories of the people she met and the activities she did. They truly took her out of her comfort zone and has come back a more confident person. Thank you Camp Crowell and GSNC!

Camp Highroad - A Place Apart

She'd been there before, with a YMCA day camp; and also on a field trip with school. But this year she and 3 friends decided to all do the sleep away camp together... and it sounds like it was the experience of a lifetime. I could tell when I picked her up that she really loved it - she was hugging the counselors and genuinely sorry to be leaving. She chattered the whole way home about the experiences... horseback riding, canoeing, hiking, creek hiking (which, she emphasizes, is very different), sleep outs (which is sleeping outside under the stars), swimming (in a pool), playing games, fishing, ziplining, archery and more. Whoa! And with 3 of her best friends. What could be better. The typical sleeping arrangements (when you're not doing a sleep out) were 6 girls in a cabin with one female chaperone. (It is a co-ed camp, but boys have separate sleeping quarters). Apparently the exact arrangements vary by groups/ages. And yes, they had a rat one night and a mouse a few times, in the cabin. There are separate bath houses. It's rustic. No AC. There's a great story about a mouse in the bathhouse and her sitting on the toilet screaming.... (I am probably not supposed to share that story, but it's funny.) It's definitely camping. It is a Christian based camp, and there are some Bible lessons. While she did confirm that, it didn't really hit the "highlights" reel. Overall, it sounds to me like a classic sleep away summer camp with all the elements of adventure you'd hope for, only better. She can not wait to go back next year.
