I found Aster when it was recommended by the director of Sno-Springs School, near our home. I was admittedly skeptical as I was not particularly impressed by other Montessori schools on the Plateau and in the Highlands. Ms Aparna and her assistant director worked with me and my wife to devise a plan to acclimate our son to their environment and routine. We started with part-time enrollment in their summer camp program. My son immediately loved their large grassy and wooded play area, which was 3x bigger than his old daycare's concrete one. We then continued with Aster into the school year. Although it was very difficult for him at first, Aster Montessori was very patient with our headstrong son's adjustment to Montessori. He quickly improved his social skills ("grace and courtesy") and made good friends at the school. He looked forward to going to preschool each day. As parents we are pleased that our son is achieving his language & math milestones with ease -- he is ahead of his older sibs when they were in preschool -- we are most excited that he's maturing as person. That is, he is starting to understand and regulate his rather challenging temperament. I just wish Aster had been around when our daughters were in preschool! Pros: Happy and eager classmates Low turnover among the teaching staff; they are experienced, too Great communication with parents at pickup, by e-mail and during conference. Clean and bright classrooms Big playground for a small preschool Nurturing environment Many attendance options available Amazing music teacher Cons: Montessori not a natural fit for every personality (like my son's?) Can be difficult to get to know other parents Once-a-month snack duty (ok, not really a problem) Only offers preschool-to-kindergarten (i.e., 3-year 3-to-6 y.o. cycle through Kindergarten)

We have a very happy experience here, and we can see great improvement in his social, emotional and academic development, especially after he started kindergarten. Aster Montessori provides a family-style environment which is very caring, safe and cozy. My son and I fell in love with it when we toured the school, and this turns out to be a really wise choice for us! All of his teachers are nice and helpful to all kids. They love and respect my son and they teach him a lot with great patience, especially his lead teacher, also director of Aster Montessori. My son learned a lot about plants, animals, continents, countries, food, weather, every aspect about nature and science. Besides, he learned how to write numbers, letters, words and sentences, and how to do addition, subtraction and even multiplication. Aster Montessori is an amazing school which really helps lay a solid foundation for kids. Also, the music program is superb, every school concert was very impressive! Highly recommend!

My son attended the summer program at Positive Ally through the difficult summer of 2020. My goal was to support local struggling businesses in the pandemic as we reopened. At this time everything changed, from the ratio of student to instructor to the facility itself. This was in addition a new Covid surge. My son was withdrawn after 1 day. I asked the owner to allow us to withdraw from the program and offered him the ability to use the credit for a later time (where staffing ratios and the pandemic surge may be resolved). The guy refused. His tone changed to include personal attacks. He is clearly petty. He filed a lawsuit (served by his 2 kids to my home at 6:30am). If you have money he will come after you obviously he needs it but most businesses during Covid understood families protecting their kids. This individual was more worried about putting food on his table. There are too many decent after school programs this guy and his school is NOT one. Support one with integrity. We give thousands to charity he's just another charity case.

PA focuses on physical activities (basketball, running, soccer), personal development (public speaking, group discussion) and academics. In academics, they can help with school homework as well as create a customized curriculum per kid based on an assessment and your kids individual ability. The owner/director and staff are reachable and helpful. Overall - my daughter has been pretty happy with the center!

We…read moretransitioned from another barn where we felt the 'horse management' side of things was missing. At Brackenhollow, we've found exactly what we were looking for: real experiences with horsemanship and people who are happy to share their knowledge. A major highlight for my daughter is the Brackenhollow Pony Club, which offers an incredible extra curriculum. It covers everything from unmounted horse care and bandaging to rally prep, providing the deep technical knowledge that is so hard to find elsewhere. Not only have our riding skills improved under the guidance of incredibly kind and knowledgeable instructors, but we've also deepened our hands-on experience by working at the barn. The best part is that you get out what you put in - whether you want to be deeply involved in the 'gross and glorious' side of horse care or just enjoy your weekly ride, there's a place for you. You can be as involved as you want to be. The instructors are amazing, the students are supportive, and it is completely down-to-earth rather than overly competitive while also offering competition experience if desired (my daughter just started showing in jumper events last summer). We are so happy we found our home here!

Joanna and Duschka have had an immense amount of training from international experts and have impressive competition experience but are not pretentious. They give lessons to everyone from beginners to advanced competitors. They own a variety of horses of different sizes, colors, and breeds covering every level. Riders can also bring their own horse in for lessons. Before and after lessons, riders are taught how to groom, tack up and untack, and check their horse. Joanna and Duschka teach dressage, jumping, cross-country and eventing skills including training for competition and pony club ratings. I have been riding and taking lessons for over 10 years with Joanna and Duschka. I started as an adult having never really ridden as a kid and being a bit scared of horses. Starting with private lunge lessons I learned to balance properly enough to ride in group lessons. Soon I ended up taking riding twice a week and attended weeklong adult summer camp. Now I lease a horse at a neighboring barn and have weekly lessons at Brackenhollow. Lessons are not cheap but are great exercise that is well worth the money and much cheaper than having your own horse. I have seen many riders at Brackenhollow go from being timid or shy to become confident riders or competitors able to manage their horses even in difficult situations. Brackenhollow may not appear to be a fancy barn like others in the area but is a gem of a find near the Emerald City!
