My experience with this place was extremely disappointing. Customers are treated like nothing more than dollar signs, with no genuine care or honesty in their service. The staff's attitude was unprofessional and dismissive. The environment itself was unclean, and more importantly, there was a clear lack of proper care for animals. I left my dog with them, and he stayed there for more than one night. During that time, they failed to even provide basic feeding, which is completely unacceptable. On top of that, when my dog needed treatment for a leg infection, they refused to provide care unless I paid over $500 for additional services and vaccines that were unnecessary, as my dog was already fully vaccinated. Despite this, they still charged me money while providing no real service. Overall, this place lacks honesty, professionalism, and basic responsibility. I would not recommend it to anyone. read more

DO NOT COME HERE!!!! Extremely unethical!!!!!!! If I could give 0 stars I would. On September 10th I visited Red Mountain Animal Clinic in birmingham alabama. I had taken my cat in that I had found in my apartment parking lot. While I was there they said she was pregnant. We took her home and a couple weeks later she started bleeding. I thought this was normal as she could have been going into labor. After a couple days of her bleeding I figured this was abnormal so I took her back to Red Mountain Animal clinic on October 3rd. This visit they told me she was never pregnant and now has developed a life threatening infection in her uterus called pyometra. If I did not spend $2,000 for a surgery right then and there they said she would die. As a college student I do not have that kind of money. So I left thinking my cat was going to die. I ended up taking her to a spay clinic and got a second opinion. They told me she never had pyometra and she was never pregnant. She was simply in heat. Red Mountain Animal Clinic charged me $600 in total for an unethical service expecting to get $2,000 out of me. I have called them asking for a refund from the visits where they told me she had pyomtra and they have refused. read more

Prices are very reasonable at RMAC compared to other vets in the area so it's worth checking them out if you have a new pet or looking to switch. read more

Came here a few months ago after being surprised by all the positive reviews. We did not go back. They told us our pet needed to be dropped off, because they wanted to watch her for a diagnosis and to administer her next round of shots. Said they would call around noon to let us know she would be ready for pickup. Noon came and went, no call. One pm came and went, no call. Finally around two, I figured they might have forgotten to call, so I gave them a call instead. Secretary puts me on a brief hold, and comes back to let me know she is indeed ready and has been ready for awhile. Checked our phones, no missed calls. Drive to the office to pick her up and find out the secretary was right, she had been ready for a while. They had been playing with her instead of calling us to come pick her up. Sat with the doctor, and he told us he had no idea what was wrong, but to feed her some probiotic food they gave us (but didn't ask us if we even wanted, even though we later found out we paid extra for it). After looking up ingredients in the food and reviews of the food, we cut our losses and, instead, elected for a plain diet of chicken and rice. Underquoted us for the services she received. We were told she would be seen for around $200 including shots. We paid around $300 and received no shots. If she shouldn't have received shots at this visit, that's fine. But they should have told us, instead of quoting us a price with shots and then jacking up the price and not giving her the shots. But Red Mountain didn't even tell us they hadn't administered the shots, like we requested. We only noticed because the shots just weren't listed on the itemized receipts. If you like nice people but want bad work this is the place for you. After being the vet for my dogs for years I took my dog to a mobile veterinary clinic just to pick up some flea and tick medicines. They drew her blood and told me she had heart worms and I needed to take her to my primary. After scheduling an appointment and then confirming that she had them we where started on a rather risky and expensive treatment. I follow the treatment to a T to discover near the end that I was given a short amount of medication. I went back to the hospital to pick up more medicine and they never told me anything there or afterwards by letter, call, email about any follow ups. A year later and we go back to Red Mountain Animal Clinic for her yearly visit and they tell me that she still has heart worms and we have to start the treatment all over. The drx had all sorts of excuses for why but none included his ineptitude for how to run a legitimate business and take care of families pets. Stay away from these people if you care about your pets life! read more

I've been coming here for years and I adore the vets, but today I've just had enough with their front desk staff. I walked in for my scheduled appointment, the woman at the front desk couldn't even be bothered to look up from her phone. I had to clear my throat before she acknowledged me and told me the forms to fill out. Then she proceeded to tell me the doctor was going to lunch and it would be at LEAST an hour, and asked me to leave my dog with them. I asked why I was given an appointment in that time frame, then she said I should try to come back tomorrow. I have one day off a month. I made an appointment somewhere else and I can't say I'll be back. The vets are amazing but something must be done with the horrid service at the front desk. read more

It Was my first time at this clinic today after a very negative experience at another vet clinic. Dr. Eckhoff listened to all of my concerns, was incredibly patient and very thorough in explaining everything. I explained to her that I am a student and very low on funds, not only do they do student and military discounts, but she came up with prices for everything my dog needed, and help me prioritize the list so that I could take care of what was most important and come back in a few weeks for things that I could put off a little bit. I can't say enough How much I appreciate her taking the time to be so thorough. I also ran into the other doctor on my way out and although I didn't speak long to him he was incredibly nice and acknowledged all the customers. The folks at Red Mountain Animal Clinic are extremely helpful! I'm one of those people that always has half a dozen more questions than the average person, and they are always more than willing to answer those questions. As far as prices go, they are beyond fair and reasonable. For example, several years ago, my dog had to have surgery to clear an intestinal blockage, and she had an allergic reaction of sorts to the type of stitching they used to sew her back up. Because of this, her incision had to be completely reopened and resewn with a different kind of stitching, and the my wife and I were not charged a penny for the second procedure. I cannot stress my level of satisfaction with this Vet. There hours are very convenient, and they work hard to get your pets in, even on last-minute situations. Four paws up! read more

Affordable pet care with people who I feel like really care about my little fur baby. Lew (my dog) is a patient at RMAC and he's been treated very well. He was due for his shots and since I had recently moved I was in search of a new Vet. I was recommended to this place by my mom since it was close by and she was using them. They took care of all the shots, gave him a full exam, including blood work and stool samples, had fixed up a broken Dew Nail that had been bothering my little guy. The bill was relatively cheap and the service was excellent. I'm glad I found my new animal care doctors. read more

I called around Birmingham to get prices for yearly shots and RMAC was by far the best and also offered a 10% student discount. My dog is terrified of going to the vet and can get snappy and VERY difficult. They did her shots in no time and also managed to somehow cut my dogs nails on a different occasion for only $13.50 (went to 3 groomers and no one could manage to cut them). I also LOVE and the pet ID cards they sent out, they are so convenient! read more

Having found my Yorkshire terrier almost two years ago, I have placed her under the care of Red Mountain Animal Clinic since that day. I do not regret it. Dr. Williams and Dr. B. are the most personable and knowledgeable veterinarians you could ask for. And they are realistic; if they need additional information to help your pet, they will search to find out. Both vets simply care about your pet (baby) and are empathetic to how you feel about your pet. I haven't considered taking Sendie anywhere else, and do not plan to. read more
