Updating my review - 6 years later and I can say Dr Davies is still a miracle worker with my dogs ! I have a silver lab now who is extremely allergic & even reacted to his annual shots ! Dr Davies calmly plans his annual shots and still imo the best Vet in AL ! Hands down ! Also the staff here are amazing ! It's right by WTD daycare too so I find they do things about half the price of my daycare !! I love everyone in this place! read more

These people are horrible! No empathy towards me or my dog! They refused to help me get my dog inside when he was unable to walk. They were more interested in the paperwork than helping me get my dog inside. I told them that I had suffered two heart attacks and a stroke and was feeling light headed after being up all night with my dog and waiting over two hours outside the clinic waiting for them to open. I just wanted them to lift my dog and take him inside so I could sit down with the paperwork. First they said "someone will be right out to help you" Then I waited outside by my vehicle for another twenty minutes and went back inside to see what the problem was. They wanted me to leave my dog outside and fill out the stupid paperwork! I have used this vet before and had problems with them that time as well. A guy finally came outside with a clipboard and a pen! Again, I've used this vet before! I was a returning customer! read more

Pretty condescending towards me and my dog who was a shelter dog and is still kinda shy around new people but is overall very well behaved. Also printed off the wrong directions on an antibiotic medication, which could have led to my dog building an antibiotic resistance to the meds and getting worse. If it wasn't for my background in the health field allowing me to recognize the medication, I could've been giving my dog an antibiotic incorrectly. I had to call them to verify it was wrong, which it was, and warn them to be sure not to print other dogs' meds incorrectly. The clinic itself is also pretty dreary and sad looking. Go at your own discretion, but there are so many other vet clinics that will make your pup feel safe and excited while also properly educating you as a pet parent throughout the appointment (and will print medication directions correctly). read more

After our other vet office closed, we decided to go with the convenience of location with our next choice of vet. With Hoke being very close to our house and directly in front of the place where we board her, it seemed this was the best choice for us. Let me start by saying that our dog is extremely hyperactive and loves new people and places. So whenever we go here, she is going nuts. But the staff is so friendly and love petting her, giving her treats, and tolerating her constant movement. This last visit was after our dog was limping and we noticed a spot on her foot. The vet we saw said although that spot was tender, he thought she hurt her leg besides that. A few days later when I realized that spot on her foot wasn't sensitive, I knew he must be right. He did not want to do an unnecessary x-ray which I'm sure saved quite a bit of money. He also gave her a shot that didn't even phase her. All of the doctors we have met are very informative, explain things well, and most importantly, genuinely care about our dog and her comfort. As someone who treats their dog like their own child, I really appreciate how the staff treats our pup. read more

I only lived near Hoke Animal Clinic for a few years, so my pup spent a small portion of his life being cared being these fine folks. With that said, I can guarantee you it was among the best care he received. While these weren't the Vets that helped raise my dog, they immediately showed great interest. Everyone always remembered his name and what had happened on previous visits. I realize they have charts, but I could tell they actually cared. We moved to the area and wanted a closer vet in case of emergencies; so glad a friend recommended Hoke! The ladies at the counter, and the ones assisting the vet, were wonderful. They were equally sweet to me and my three puppers. There was a rather rude and insistent customer wanting to purchase meds for her pet without a prescription. She was handled courteously and thoughtfully, which means a lot to me. Not only do they treat dogs like people... they treat people like people. Buddy, Frick and Skiba are lucky we moved close to Hoke. I have never seen a vets office handle three dogs at once so kindly, professionally and with such ease. read more

Spoke with a woman named Monya. Was asking for prices regarding my elderly mother's two cats for vaccinations, cleaning, and treatment for ear mites. Not only did she rudely tell me she didn't have any idea how much it would cost for the treatments I inquired about but she also got an attitude when I mentioned another vet quoted an exact price for the exact services (not to mention they are $100 cheaper). She also tried to use scare tactics saying her two cats would be picked up and "taken for forever" when I said they had not had their shots. It's fine if you don't want customers, but if you do, I'd suggest having someone answer your phones that doesn't sound like they're being held against their will and has a little bit of knowledge regarding customer service. read more
