Red Mountain Garage Doors uses low-cost social media advertising as a predatory lead-generation tactic just to get a foot in your door and hit you with a massive upsell. I booked their $49 tune-up special for my three-car garage (totaling $147). The technician arrived carrying absolutely nothing but a standard can of spray lubricant. He spent a combined total of 5 to 8 minutes for ALL THREE DOORS. He did nothing but spray the rollers and pulleys. When I explicitly asked him to complete a baseline physical inspection of the hardware, checking for loose bolts, nuts, and spring integrity, he flat-out refused, claiming everything was fine. Immediately following his refusal, he tried to pressure me into an estimated $1,600.00 overhaul to replace rollers, pulleys, and bearings that he hadn't even formally tested. To make matters worse, I paid via a mobile card reader, and they promised a receipt and service checklist would be emailed to me immediately. It has been over 48 hours. Despite multiple phone calls to their office and management, they have refused to provide an itemized invoice, a receipt, or a service record. Management dismissed my complaints by claiming a "tune-up" is just a visual look and a spray. However, their website URL structure deliberately uses the terms "tune-up" and "maintenance" interchangeably to deceive consumers into thinking they are paying for actual preventive mechanical service. This is an unprofessional, deceptive operation that refuses to provide basic financial receipts or real mechanical service. I have initiated a chargeback with my credit card company and filed complaints with the Alabama Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division, the BBB of Central Alabama, and the FTC. Our garage door is a solid wood monster from the 60's. Alas, over the years the springs had just given up the ghost and said enough was enough. Fortunately, we had heard that Red Mountain Garage Doors was the "go to" company for garage door repairs. The young man that came to our home was there exactly on time and within about 1.5 to 2 hours he had our garage door working like new. This is the 3rd time i have had them to come out and repair a roll up door, the installer still thinks he is right and that i am stupid. it is severely offset the door opening and isn't aligned and it will slip out of the slot even with the lightest breeze. They used all the old slide guides and the old brackets and that has caused nothing but problems with alignment. The value may be there in the doors but the install is trash. I just had a garage door repair done yesterday. Our door was stuck in the down position because of a broken torsion spring - as such, we needed it to be fixed immediately. Red Mountain charged us $365 to replace the broken torsion spring, plus $245 for an operator bracket, for a total of $610. I just got two quotes from two other highly reputable garage door companies in Huntsville - one quoted me $190 total, and one quoted me $304. It turns out that the spring is a $60 part, and as for the $245 bracket that Red Mountain scammed me for, Home Depot sells the very same part for $11.53. I understand that there's a labor charge to be expected, but this entire fix was completed in 40 minutes. At $100 / hour labor, this entire fix should have cost ~$200-250, and Red Mountain charged me $610. I cannot even begin to tell you how disappointed that I am in this business, and how disappointed I am that I got scammed like this. Completely unorganized & unprofessional company. They sent a tech out to our business, who said they need to order a part, and they would call me with an update. After 2 weeks nobody called so I called them back 5 times over the course of the week asking for an update and they said "management will call you" and they never once called. I am not sure who runs this company but they are completely unorganized. read more

Two stars because there was good and bad with my experience. I'll start with the bad. I called due to an issue we were having with a 6 year old Craftsman garage door opener that was purchased through Sears. It's very difficult to run Sears down these days, and I won't go into all those details. So, we called this business to come look at and fix the one we had. It seemed like a simple issue as the chain had one side with a lot of tension, and the door would not go up. The workers for this organization could not seem to make a repair or diagnose an issue at all. All they could do is recommend purchasing a new unit. Ultimately, this is what we did, due to the previously mentioned issues with finding someone from Sears to come. They left the old unit for us just in case we got someone to answer questions about possible warranty issues. Once we got someone from Sears services to come out and diagnose the problem with the older unit, he could not find anything wrong with it and had it in working order in no time. Sear rep opened it up (guys from Red Mtn. didn't do this) and stated everything including gears, sprockets, and boards looked to be in great condition. Ultimately, we are out of pocket for a new garage door opener when all we needed was a repair. Bottom line don't advertise that you can repair these things if your workers can't make fix that should have been simple. Just say you sell new ones, because this appears to be all you are capable of. I called and gave them the opportunity to make the situation right. They took my number and said they would call back with a proposal, but I have yet to hear back about this. My experience with them wasn't all bad. They did come out the same day I called which was good, and they at least seemingly can install a new unit and do it well. Needless to say I will not use this company again nor would I recommend them to anyone else. read more
