I didn't realize that with the new menu changes, ordering a lox bagel meant all assembly required-- by the customer. I received a plastic to-go box with a toasted bagel, a ramekin of cream cheese, a ramekin mixture of capers and onions, and smoked salmon wrapped in a deli sheet. I was puzzled and asked for clarification from a sales associate, as the order was not to-go. I want to stress the fact that there was no negligence whatsoever on the part of the employee-- she's great and always makes my day when I see she's working. However, I find it to be quite a bizarre policy to require a guest to construct their own sandwich. Part of the reason people dine out is to be cared for and have a stress-free morning. It was also a waste of plastic cutlery, as I used a single knife to spread cream cheese and tossed the unneeded fork and spoon. Now while I am proud of my sandwich build and the flavor was good, I was left with fingers that smelled like salmon despite washing my hands multiple times. Not exactly what I was hoping for at 10 am on my day off from working in a restaurant. I understand the fine details of menu flips can be a bit clumsy at first, but I hope management receives this feedback and reconsiders this self-assembly method. I love this place and the atmosphere and staff. The lox bagel experience just didn't hit the mark for me.

A bunch of varied beans were available for purchase this morning, and I opted for the Huehuetenango - a dark Guatemalan. I don't have a burr grinder, so he ground it for me (as requested, one above Turkish). Just brewed a Bialetti (12 cup) of it, and I can report that it is good. Very good. Most of the drinks here are Mythologically themed- Aphrodite, Apollo, Hercules, you get the point. I tried the Persephone, which was a pomegranate flavored coffee. Super on par for Greek Mythology, if you know you know. Yes, getting a pomegranate coffee was extremely risky, but it was so intriguing I had to try it out. And let me say, it was probably as good as a pomegranate coffee could turn out. You could definitely taste it but it wasn't so overpowering or artificial tasting. I don't think I'd try it again as I'd rather just have a plain coffee but I was fairly impressed. There's not a ton of seating in here but could be a very peaceful place to study and do work. Just tasted like a regular latte. I had to have more than 12oz (looks like this is their only size) so I also got the cold brew.. but the batch was not as strong as I would prefer. I think it can be better. I'm sadly reminded of the old Keurig days when my coffee would come out tasting extremely diluted but I would still drink to because it was quick and easy.
