They ask their patients to return the favor by serving their neighbor in need the same amount of service to three people within three months & ask to return a letter telling the story of their service. Patients are given 1 month to write to story of at least one act of kindness. If they don't receive the letter within 1 month, they will not be able to have follow up visits in the future. Patients are able to enroll in a prescription plan if they choose, most prescriptions are written in the $4 prescription list. Lab orders are done through a discounted service. They also have a podiatry clinic once a month. I'm a volunteer here as a pre-PA student so I cannot say much about the physician-patient experience, just what some of the provisions of the clinic are for those that want to visit!

The staff is always welcoming and they prep you very well to teach the students about life. The Finance park is my favorite place to volunteer at. This program teaches our youth how to budget their money and opens their eyes to appreciate their parents for everything they pay for. If you have never volunteered for Junior Achievement, I highly recommend it. It won't only change your life but it will help make a huge difference in our community of Las Vegas.

My employer regularly schedules opportunities for a group of employees to volunteer for the Evening Community Meal at Las Vegas Rescue Mission, founded in 1970. It is a smooth-running operation. For two hours, we get to assist with food service for around 500 to 700 homeless or hungry folks from the local community. The demographic is diverse across age and ethnicity, and includes some families and people with disabilities. They are peaceful and polite throughout the occasion. Some greet you personally to express their gratitude. I enjoy participating in this volunteer event, as a way to give back to the local community most in need. It also serves as a reminder to not take my own meals for granted, as someone fortunate to be in the segment of society that never goes hungry. For folks interested in volunteering, I would recommend Las Vegas Rescue Mission to anyone.

Apparently when United Way left this area, there was no one left to help out folks in the area that fell on rough financial times. In steps The River Fund. I found out they also help people apply for copies of birth certificates (because most states require notarized documents), which was the purpose of my visit. I spoke with Mike and was able to get his help walking me through the whole process. He was so friendly & helpful. He was kind enough to just charge me the exact fees that Los Angeles County (CA) was charging for my certificate. I told him I didn't have much leftover after that and just having paid my rent, so he didn't charge me for the notary services! He told me its normally only a $10 fee for it, and it isn't much, but still...I'm not trying to take advantage of the nice guy with the big heart. :) Please visit their website and see what they're about. PS. If you plan on going to their office, I suggest you call first. Otherwise, it may be difficult to get someone. The amount of available staff depends on the day of the week.

Since housing and meals are such a burden during times like that, this home becomes the most amazing relief for families. I've visited several times, and not only is the place absolutely clean, furnished, and accommodating, but the staff are the most wonderful people that truly care. I cannot day enough GREAT things about this house!!!!
