This charity organization houses families that are dealing with medical issues, typically requiring them to be away from home. Since housing and meals are such a burden during times like that, this home becomes the most amazing relief for families. I've visited several times, and not only is the place absolutely clean, furnished, and accommodating, but the staff are the most wonderful people that truly care. I didn't volunteer here as many of the reviewers did. I came here to bring a large bag of pull tops from can tops. The Ronald McDonald House gets money from a recycler for these aluminum pull tabs. The woman at the desk was very nice and I filled out the donation form for her. If you can save your pull tops like this and drop them off, there are little boxes in different establishments around town. Every one helps. I like what this house does for the families of children in hospitals and it's a pleasure to help them out. read more

The Ronald McDonald House Charity will always have a special place in my heart. The Ronald McDonald House provides families with children staying in hospitals with housing and meals free of charge, cooked by volunteers from various organizations. RMHC gives families respite from hospitals by giving them some semblance of home. My family stayed at the House in San Diego, but I have gotten a couple of chances to volunteer at the Las Vegas House. When I learned my previous employer regularly volunteered at the RMHC packing lunches for children in hospitals and their families, I leaped at the chance to help out. I will forever be in the debt of RMHC, so volunteering here is the least I could do! I joined 3 other volunteers at around 8AM to begin packing lunches. 2 volunteers made the sandwiches in the kitchen, and the other volunteer and I worked in the dining room filling every brown paper bag with a canned juice, chips, cookie, and a fruit. The total count for lunch bags was upwards of 200. Our volunteers shift averaged less than 2 hours. After everything was packed up, the bags were loaded into a van to be delivered to the local children's hospital. Ronald McDonald House is absolutely AMAZING! Recently I have been on this whole volunteer as much as I can in 2018 focus and it's been so nice to do. My job has a ton of volunteering throughout the year and the Ronald McDonald house is one of the ongoing charities that we do a couple times per month. When volunteering I've had the pleasure of assisting with both the "Lunch On Us" program and the Dinner service. The Lunch On Us program has been going on here in Las Vegas since I believe 2004 or so (don't quote) me but it's really awesome. We help make sandwiches and pack the bagged lunches for the family to be delivered to the hospitals and families. Dinner service is done when we prepare a dinner for the families who reside in the Ronald McDonald House. This one is actually my favorite because you get to interact with the families and show support! All of the resources and services that this house provides for it's families is beyond amazing! I'm glad I've found another charity that I can add to "my favorites to volunteer at" list! read more

The Ronald McDonald house is a place where families of sick children stay. In honor of my nephew who passed away from cancer a few years ago, we decided to collect pop tabs and then we donated them here once we had enough. The dropoff was very quick...we were in and out of there in less than five minutes. One of my favorite place to volunteer. I tried to volunteer to cook dinner at RMH on a monthly basis. The only reason when I can't make it is due to important work related meeting. This house is huge, and accommodate 12 + families. I first volunteered without truly understand how the house helps families. After I got home, I decided to read up on the mission of the house. Boy was I emotional. I then made an effort to volunteer as much as my availability allows me to, to be a part of a non-profit organization to provide families a second home, closer to the treatment facility where their children are seeking medical attention. The Ronald McDonald House provides families with a place to stay when children are sick/in need of medical attention. Kiwanis does a great job of supporting this organization and it certainly is a great cause. This location is very roomy, well-kept, and the staff is incredibly friendly. I volunteered with the Las Vegas Young Professionals Kiwanis to clean up after this house hosted a 5K fundraiser and we also prepared a meal for families. It is great to see such an amazing staff behind the operations of this house. I'll always be a huge fan of the Ronald McDonald House Charities and can't wait for my next volunteering visit here! read more

Another one of my favorite charities, I was first introduced to them a few years ago at their annual 5k event. I've always heard about the House, but didn't know what they did for the community until I took the tour of the facility. When kids are seriously ill and need to travel to Las Vegas for healthcare, the House provides a place for them and their families to be together during the crisis. There's so many things we take for granted when we have money and health insurance, that we don't realize just how lucky we are. We were moving, so we looked for a good place to donate nonperishable food and drinks. The RM House was open and someone answered the phone even on a Saturday, so we were able to make a drop-off conveniently. They were friendly and loaned us a cart to bring everything in, which made donating painless. read more

My grandson was flown to Sunrise Children's hospital on December 11, 2017 and finally came home the week before Mothers Day 2018. During that time my family experienced the kindness of the RMH. My daughter in law stayed in Vegas the entire time. When she first got there they didn't have a room at the house for her so they put her in a hotel for a while until she could move into the house. Once in the house she was given a nice large room with two queen beds of which many of us took turns sleeping on. The lady who checked us all in (unfortunately I can't remember her name) was very kind going through all the rules of the house. There was always activity going on with all the people who came in to volunteer trying to make it feel like a home away from home for families going through a challenging time. I hope that we never need their services again but sure feel thankful for the kindness that was shown to my family. Im so excited to be the first family review!!! My son Colin and I are from Honolulu, Hawaii. In the beginning of june, he lost all muscle tone, and reflexes in his arms and legs. Doctors in Hawaii couldn't figure out what was going on with him and were just going in circles. We almost had to sign an "Against Medical Advice" form to get him discharged because his bloodwork hadn't normalized. My previously healthy son used to be able to stand on his own, take steps with help, now wasn't able to sit on his own, and regressed in motor skills and was now hypotonic. His outpatient planning wasn't getting anywhere either. He had a great neurologist lined up for him at Shriners, but unfortunately they weren't equipped with diagnostics to help my son. We thought we were all out of hope. BUT my dad reminded me I can fly to the mainland for basically free with his flying benefits. This brought us to Las Vegas, as that was the most open flight available and i kind of knew my way around. The first week of appointments, my son and I stayed at a hotel for $98 a night. It literally drained us, and after realizing our doctors expected us to stay for about a month; To include surgery, therapy, and appointments I was literally in tears. I thought we would go home without an answer all because I wasn't better prepared. As I was crying to my friend. A lightblulb went off in her head and she relayed to me the remembrance of her child being at texas children's and utilizing the ronald mcdonald house there. I screamed in joy, and hung up the phone and tried to find arrangements so we could possibly stay there. The process was so simple. When i returned the car at enterprise, because I had used all the money I brought for hotel, and car and needed money for food (so i thought), Ronald Mcdonald house called me a cab that took me to the house. Everyday that we were there, we were treated like family. Meals were prepared for us by generous volunteers. I learned to cook!! well cook new recipes. I learned that mainland and hawaii recipes are quite different. Until I could get my husband to send me money to rent a car, Ronald Mcdonald house provided transportation for my son and I to get to appointments. We avoided hospitalization as long as we were within close proximity of a hospital, and went to all follow up appointments. Everynight i was there, i was thinking...Whats the stinking catch? Is there some kind of huge add on fee at the end? Is there some kind of charge I'm not aware of? I was wondering how in the world could someone who doesn't know us, be so kind to us. Feed us, arrange transportation, provide us a roof over our head, and provide the comfort knowing someone cared. Tonight it finally dawned upon me. Because they are doing what they love doing. Which is helping people. I am so amazed that they cared so much about Colin and I and did everything in their power to help us when we needed it. I am not one that asks for help very often because I am usually quite independent and have an answer and plan for everything. , the Ronald Mcdonald house of Las Vegas was there to catch Colin and I during the time that I didn't have an answer, they helped me not feel like such a failure, and they gave Colin and I the strength to push, knowing we had an army behind us! PROS: Laundry Facility, Elevator, Extremely good security with card keys, GIANT kitchen with endless options of food choices, very friendly and helpful staff, loved by all locally, New kids playroom with computers, large backyard, tv in each room, EVEN had a crib for Colin! CONS: ONLY ONE! the laundry room in the basement can get a bit creepy at night. read more

The best house ever!!! We lived here for two months during the scorching hot Summer of 2018..after driving her from the dirty south by way of Atl and Al.She has to have chronic blood transfers and has rare special blood that has to be her exact genetic match.They welcomed us..fed us wonderful and sometimes gourmet chef served food-everyday and was very encouraging about helping to find a permanent home in Las Vegas.Once we found our new build apartment they gave us furniture.. food..cleaning supplies..linen..dishes..beds..nice expensive reclining chairs and delivered those items and more to us.And now that we are months out of the house they continue to invite us to all there events.Not only did they give my daughter huge bags Christmas gifts but my three grandkids as well!! They staff gave us the courage to face the daily life in a new state with chronic illness and job hunting as well as navigate in Vegas baby..now we never leaving and my daughter is being considered for gene therapy to be possibly cured from her use to be life long illness.Thanks for featuring my little one in your newsletter on Family Friday's..She look so good on your online newsletter.Thank you again..We are stronger from having met all of you. read more
