Red Rock Lavender Farm and Vineyard is such a beautiful place just north of the small town of Concho. This farm started in 1998 and now has over 35,000 plants. It was the first commercial lavender farm in Arizona! They grow several different lavender varieties including Provence, Grosso, Royal Velvet Buena Bista, Vera and Munstead. Recently they have started a Vineyard and Winery as well and it is Arizona's highest elevation Vineyard. I have attended their annual lavender festival around seven times and it is always a treat, especially when the weather is cooler! This visit was perfect as there was cloud cover and the temperature only got up to 85°! The festival typically takes place two 4-day weekends in late June or July. In 2020 the festival dates were 7/16-7/19 and 7/23-7/26. They have all kinds of lavender items and wine for sale. They also have demonstrations, like lavender growing and cooking with lavender. This year because of the pandemic, the cooking with lavender was an outdoor discussion with no samples which is understandable. The staff at the farm took extreme precautions for COVID-19, including all staff wearing masks and requesting attendees to wear one if social distancing cannot happen, wiping items down regularly including the carrying baskets in the shop and certain items individually packaged that have not been in the past. Admission is $5 per person and one U-Cut bundle is $8 dollars, but if you look on Groupon, you can usually find a deal! I had a deal for 2 admissions and 2 U-Cut bundles for $13.50! That leaves me more money to spend on other things! They do you have limited food available, but they have quite a few picnic tables on the grounds as well as grass and we always bring a picnic to enjoy amongst the beautiful surroundings. After the festival, the Farm, lavender shop and wine tasting room will remain open on Saturdays from 1-6pm. You can also order their products online and get free shipping if you spend $45! Definitely a must see and do in northern Arizona! read more

Had my first opportunity to visit this outstanding Lavender Growing farm in Concho, this past weekend. They really know there stuff about lavender, growing it and using if both for cosmetics and cooking. Loved it. New - they have just begun a vineyard with a brand new planting of grape vines. When they are able to produce wine what could be better than lavender and wine - maybe chocolate - flavored with lavender? They only do this festival (this is their 12th year) for 2 weekends in June. I would recommend this highly. Make it a weekend and stay near by (the farm does not have facilities for guests) in Show Low. read more

Lavender festival. Concho. AZ I found the festival last summer on the web, wanted to go, but i was too late. Planned to go this year. I came from Mass to go. I'm glad its not the only reason i came to az. We arrived late, caught the last 20 min of food demo. Not enough samples for everyone(including us!) Some of the women seemed to be inconvenienced by us asking questions and being there. The responses were cold and harsh, sorry that's why your here. If they didn't like being there in the heat, then go home. Nice matters a lot when you are part of an event. There was the most horrid smell, coming from behind the store. I was told that it probably was the porta johns! Not too healthy. They should be cleaned every morning. Especially with the heat. I have organized outdoor events for 20 years, I have Never had that happen. When your charging an entrance fee then take care of things like that. It seemed very dis-organized. I know it's the 12th year, but really. Not all the workers were familar with everything, No Pamphlets about all the types of lavendar, but you could spend $$$ for a book! A suggestion that with the entrance fee a pamphlet, with the schedule of events. A short description of the types of lavender. Even a 81/2"x11" piece of paper folded in half. There should be more education about lavender. A talk in the am and one in the pm. We heard that there was a talk by the owner in the am. Went the second day and caught the owners talk. It was the best part, he was very personable and educational, the unhappy staff should take his lead. The store was good, bring your Big pocketbook, on the higher price scale. I was hoping to buy a cooking lavender plant, but they were all sold out. I went the second weekend, guess that's not the weekend to go. 10 different varieties of plants available first weekend, only a few the second. If that's your biggest seller, have to many available. It would have been VERY helpful if there were signs, telling which way to go at intersections, especially. Just a sign with an arrow would be wonderful. FYI Vistaprint does a wonderful job, very inexpensive. I think an event coordinator would make this festival an outstanding event. I really was disapointed. read more
