Brisket was nearly leather, never seen dry pulled pork before, and cheese sprinkled on noodles, as literal as it is, is still not Mac and cheese. Visited this busy busy House of Smoky BBQ with my partner and a few friends, had to see and taste what all the buzz about their ribs offerings in GP was all about. We had a decent server, we were seated promptly and the area was bumpin! I mean like if you love open social settings, with a very lively crowd with mad love for BBQ offerings and drinks; do visit this spot. I never got a photo of my ribs, it took a while for my meal to come out and at that time I was pretty much drooling from the servers delivering other guests their meals. You know the drill, whereby you see the server walking up with a platter and your hope just rises up a bit, only to be let down when they pay no attention and waltz past you. We had Red Rock's Smoky special BBQ sauce on several full rack of ribs, some folks had BBQ chicken as well I believe. Personally, I was starved; but I didn't find the ribs as appealing as the buzz around it. Good staff and service. Very busy, and I was not aware that this place is a family establishment. It's very much a sports bar atmosphere, not sure of the family friendly atmosphere. My husband and I love to dine out in our community and go out often. On Friday night we chose to eat at Red Rock Urban BBQ. We've been there several times over the past month. My husband loves the meat selections available. Unfortunately, Friday was not the night to go if you were looking for their brisket. We arrived there at about 7 pm and they had run out of brisket. That eliminated about 8 dishes off the menu. It was a bit of a disappointment that the waitress failed to advise us of that when she gave us the menus. Let's make no mistake about this, this is a bar! It was a bar and then felt they needed to be a family place... it's still a bar, it was designed as such. No kids when I came in. I am from out of town and have to go out for my meals. This get boring after a while so now and then I need to try something different. I had heard some good things about Red Rock, decided to give it a try... Service was quick off the start, bars usually are. Looking at the list of appetizers, the one that stood out was the Triple T. This is an unusual combination of tater tots, queso, salsa, pulled pork and a topping of sour cream. Rather parfait like. Different and pretty good. The main course was the Brisket on the sour dough bread with mushrooms, onions and gravy... not exactly what I expected. Now BBQ is somewhat regional, with variations on all kinds of things, but this wasn't any kind of BBQ Sauce I have ever had. It was a light brown onion like gravy. Right at home on a Salisbury Steak. Tasty none the less. I found the Brisket a little on the tough side. I expect Brisket to come apart with fork. Taste was still good but a little dry and firm. However, they didn't skimp... there was lots. Couldn't finish. Sides were the beans, not a bad size bowl with the beans and chunks of green and red pepper. Nice. The Smashed Potatoes were alright. I could have done with a little bigger serving of them and a little less Brisket... Service was good, no points lost there. See first paragraph about bar. A new entry to the Grande Prairie restaurant scene! (And on the south side, yet! Yay!) This BBQ joint is the third that does BBQ in town, after Tony Roma's and Better Than Fred's (who's pulled pork sammies are amazing), but their smoker sets them apart. I had the Memphis Ribs, and would have to say that they were exactly what they were going for. It was tender, and had that smoky flavour they were going for. (I'm actually not a fan of smoke as a flavour - seriously - who says "mmm... I sure could go for some meat that tastes like smoke..."). Nonetheless, excellent. You get two sides with it, and I had the waitress tell the cook to give me whatever the best house specialities were for sides. I expected the baked beans as I was pretty sure that had to be something special in a BBQ joint. They brought out the smashed potatoes (really good) and a Caesar salad (huh? Maybe they just thought I should have some greens). Caesar was a bit weak. My wife had the waffle nachos, which were light on cheese, and, though I like waffle fries, and I like nachos, I think this bastard child was stillborn. The helping was huge, but just not a great combination of flavours. The one saving grace on the nachos was the smoked BBQ chicken on top, which was done as perfectly as the ribs. Overall though, nice room, good service, the beer was cold, and the ribs were great. And with a BBQ joint, it's really all about the meat. read more

I have been to Red Rock twice already, and we will go back! The food is very good- not too greasy, but definitely great BBQ. One of my favourites is the pulled pork grilled cheese. Their waffle fries are also very good. An added bonus is that it is one of increasingly few adult-only dining choices in Grande Prairie. Hopefully they stay that way! read more

The staff was great but the food not so much my Daughter and I could not finish it. Bbq sauce was terrible, tasted mainly like molasses and only 1 to choose from (that's weird) We spent a winter in southern USA and I think that ruined us when it comes to bbq. The pulled pork was delicious!!! So good!! The brisket was absolutely terrible!!! So fatty and gross. Had a funny colored sheen to the meat and was just pain un edible! We ended up feeding it to our dogs!! Mac and cheese was also quite mushy. Don't think I'll be going back there again! read more

Went to Red Rock Urban BBQ for lunch today and left without eating! The item I ordered said it came with one side, so I ordered fries. The server informed me that they only served waffle fries and there was an additional charge of $2.00 for them. I inquired about regular fries and she said they don't serve them! I looked at the other sides available but none of them sounded like they belonged with a Rueben! If they are going to serve the type of food they do I strongly recommend they add regular fries to their list of sides! A Rueben without fries is not a Rueben, and I fail to understand why there is an addition $2.00 charge for waffle fries!! After all, a potato is a potato, is it not?? read more

Our dinner started off with the waitress bringing me the wrong drink from what I ordered. Next I started with ordering the smoked brisket. 15 min later the waitress told me that they were out of the brisket. I then ordered the 50/50 burger. And once again was told that was not available. Third times a charm and finally was able to order a meal that they had in stock Next the two orders of appetizers we placed, which one of the orders never came and we needed to ask where it was 10 min later Once my burger plate came , I expected my wife's salad to arrive at the same time. Which never came and 10 min after the burger plate came out I had to ask the waitress where the salad plate was, which ended up being wilted. When we received our bill. My wife had a 25 dollar gift card that we intended to use. The waitress took the card and tried running it through the machine which apparently didn't process. I then looked up the balance of the card online and showed the waitress the balance of the card. Even after she seen the balance was showing 25 dollars. Red rock still refused to take the card. We were also charged for the brisket meal (that was $10 more then the burger I had) so we had to ask the waitress to fix the bill. Worst experience at a restaurant I've had in a long time.
