So I went to The Den, not knowing how much the place has changed since "Jake's Down South" turned into "The Zone" and finally combined with "The Lions Den" to become "The Den"... Well, now that the history of the building is out of the way heh, let's talk about the current incarnation that resides within! So first time there I tried the Carvery.. and wow, it's delicious! The best Brisket I've ever tasted! It had the right amount of seasoning and was cooked until it was soft but not like a sponge and was part of a complete buffet. The service for the Carvery wasn't the best though, as I was left waiting on a chef to come cut the brisket at two different visits, but the food at the Carvery buffet was worth it. I don't visit "The Den" unless I know the Carvery is on. read more

Great little pub atmosphere. The place is cool inside genuine pub feel. The service was fast and friendly and the vodka was local so thats cool. My steak wasnt amazing but wow did the ribs look good! If I was a local I could see having a few beers here! Worth checking out read more

Great food and service. Terrible atmosphere. Last two times they have had a prefomer setting up and disrupted our meals. 12 noon and 6:30 pm. Not worth the trouble to go there. Lots of other places in GP to get good food. read more

This new restaurant is an amalgamation of a separate restaurant and bar that used to exist here - the Lions Den Pub and The Zone. My wife and I went there for lunch to try it out. When we walked in it was very dimly lit. We chose a booth against the window, and as our eyes acclimated we got the lay of the land. With a bar in the middle and VLTs on the far wall, it seemed all the booths were on the side where staff did cleanup. Or table was dirty, so i asked our server to clean it. Instead, she brought us menus. Looking around, I realized must of the place really needed a serious cleaning. The floors were quite dirty and part of the reason the room was so dim was the weak sunlight fighting to get through the filthy windows. The food was ok though - the one redeeming quality. The cook in the kitchen knew what he was doing. If only the front of house management had their act together - as it is there are plenty of other options in Grande Prairie that are superior. read more

Carvery, mmmm sounds good! So I order a clubhouse sandwich. This is going to be great! Wrong, It was served on a seasoned hoogie bun, the turkey, wasn't turkey, rather a spongey, mushy loaf slice of something that resembled, but no where near as tasty, Spam. Carvery? I was expecting real turkey!!! The fries were ok, gravy was more like something on the side with a beef dip. Au Jus. I was at the pub on Wednesday night. Was in GP for a petroleum show. Would love to comment on the service and or the food, but after sitting with my friend for 15 minutes and not having anyone even acknowledge us, we got up and left. Cleaning an empty table on both sides of us was more important to prepare for potential customers then taking care of ones that are actually there. Likely never go back. read more

Not the greatest place I have been for a while, wings cold no hot sauce on wings waited for drinks coffee was like water

Arrived late into GP around 10 PM. Phoned over from my hotel they only serve appetizers this time of night. Hard time hearing on the phone to the woman that took my order. 15 mins walked over to pick up my order. Bar area has maybe 10 people in it. Spoke to a few different staff members to discover the order hadn't been put. Thanks guys! Would give you a zero but app won't allow it. read more

I came in for Tuesday wing night and I was very impressed. The wings were really big and the Carribean Jerk was amazing. I returned twice more in the next two days for more wings, ribs and tacos. Will definitely return. read more

Just picked up food. First & Last visit. Pricey meals, have to get ID'd & photo scanned, searched with a flash light before picking up take-out that was pre-ordered. The food taste awful. Entree salmon was tough, over-cooked. Poutine side was cold and had to nuke it in my hotel room. Words used to describe their meals are ingenious to seem delicious. read more

We came in there for their steak dinner night. Steak was pretty good. It came with a buffet of baked potatoes with all the fixings, caesar salad, and garlic toast. The supper was quite good but was most disappointed with dessert. We came here a few months ago and they had this awesome Apple crumble with ice cream for 6.99 which I thought was reasonable. So we ordered it and was blown away by it. We come back this time and not only did they change the Apple crumble (it was way smaller and did not taste as good) but they increased the price a couple dollars. (They must think that elegance or fanciness of a dessert warrants an increase in price). In conclusion, we will come back for the steak supper but will not be ordering dessert here again. read more

Was really disappointed with the carvery Buffett. Ham tasted bad. Friend had steak and eggs and it was pretty good

This dive isn't sure what it wants to be. From the exterior it looks like it wants to be a steakhouse. But walk in and you will be promptly corrected, It's so confusing, it's as if it wants to be a gastro-pub/nightclub/bar/lounge/restaurant all at the same time. Three of us ordered differing food and all of us were completely disappointed. My bison sliders were disgusting, the bacon was way overdone, the "bison" was dry and burned, and to top it all off the buns were old and stale. The only saving grace was the ketchup on the fries. My friend ordered a blue cheese burger which may have well just been blue cheese, there was so much on his burger I could smell the pungent aroma clear across the table, needless to say he was less than satisfied. I got back to the hotel and made a joke about the dump next door and was she confirmed that it's terrible. I wish I had asked her opinion and was surprised to hear that the casino is the better option over the "carvery". I would recommend to stay clear of this business at all costs, this place is best suited as a college nightclub. read more
