How would Japanese food taste in a small town in Norway? It's actually really good, far exceeding…read moreour expectations! Of course like everything in this country, it's not the best bargain on earth, but we had a great evening there with delicious, fresh food and friendly service. The sashimi including the salmon, tuna and scallops were fresh and delicious. Their salad dressing was creamy and savory. And their fish entree was cooked to perfection with a very refreshing sauce! Overall the food was good and not too far from being authentic. Honestly, without competition in this little town of Voss and yet this restaurant could still deliver decent Japanese food. At least locals and tourists have a spot to go! The service was prompt and the ladies who worked there were very friendly and helpful. We highly recommend this restaurant if you want some Japanese food in Voss!

I will admit, I was really skeptical coming to a sushi place in Norway, but they are known for fish and seafood, so we gave it a shot. Eating in Norway can be expensive, so I would have assumed sushi would be an arm and a leg, but it actually was really reasonably priced, and one of our more inexpensive dinners in Norway. This is located on a street off the main boulevard but it is not difficult to find. The ambiance inside is nice, with white linen tablecloths, cloth napkins, and flowers on each of the tables. The service was great, the servers were attentive and kept our water filled, and the place was really quiet since there were not a ton of other people inside. Fine dining experience without a fine dining price tag. Tempura - We got the vegetable tempura because we hadn't eaten a lot of vegetables or fruit while on vacation, and my boyfriend claimed that he wanted vegetables in whatever form, even if they were deep-fried. There was a decent amount of vegetables here - including yam, carrots, green bell peppers. The tempura was freshly deep-fried, it was good, and it was a decent amount (7-8 pieces) Sashimi Plate & Salad - We got 8 pieces of tuna and salmon which were really fresh and delicious. The slices were a little bit on the thin side, but the quality of the fish was excellent and it would just melt in your mouth. I was expecting the salad to be some mixed greens, but they put some cubes of tuna and salmon on top, and drizzled it with some teriyaki and some mayo, and it was really tasty. This also came with a bowl of rice that had a teriyaki sauce drizzled on it. We spent $45 between both of us, which was relatively inexpensive for sushi and inexpensive for a dinner in Norway. If you're in the mood for sushi, this is a good option. I think they do a buffet for lunch, but I did not try this, nor do I care for buffets. Don't let the pictures of buffets, or the fancy linens inside deter you from trying this place out.

The two servers waiting for the diners inside the vinyl-covered sunroom of Fish Me were on top of their game. Obliging our requests for photos and even allowing us to move tables, when we saw the harbour view seats were available. Smiles and yeses, came out of their mouths, which was surprisingly uncommon in Europe. For the food, though this was inside was a fish market and them aptly named Fish Me, we didn't order fish. We opted for the only two items in the "Meat Dishes" section of the menu. I had the Whale Steak (minke) which is technically a mammal, while my wife got Reindeer Entrecôte. We paired this with a Pinot Noir and Spicy Hot Chocolate. Both tasted like beef with the gamey flavor offsetted by the red wine sauce and the caramelized green beans. My presumption proven wrong, we left satiated and considered this a winning choice.

We were looking for a mixture of reindeer and seafood so ended up in this fish market just behind…read moreour hotel by the wharf with a beautiful view and service. We got seated right away and they didn't mind that we had to switch tables to get a better view of the wharf. We ordered the following: * I had the whale steak served with mashed potatoes, caramelized green beans with toasted sunflower seeds, marinated and grilled pear, and a flavorful red wine sauce with a hint of wild berries. * spiced hot chocolate for my drinks * hubby got the Reindeer Entrecôte Served with oven-baked potatoes, caramelized green beans with toasted sunflower seeds, marinated chanterelles, and a flavorful red wine sauce with a hint of wild berries. * a glass of pinot noir. Definitely a place to go to when in Bergen.
