Small but perfectly filled with beautiful, useful, well-made items. Like the gorgeous wooden ornaments I bought. Or funky door wedges. Or old school tin (or ceramic, made to look like tin- I didn't pick them up) tableware. And terrariums and air plants! An exciting find. All of this along with pastries and coffee and a lovely chatty owner who has a toddler and told me about the second location in Abbey Hill they're opening soon. It's not cheap, but quality goods made by people who actually earn a wage will never be cheap. My only wish would be for a bigger general store with even more fun and exciting finds.

However, when inside, you become less aware of the busy traffic. The coffee house itself is quite small inside with a relaxing, laid back atmosphere. The coffee was not very expensive at all, and when I was looking around I found that this place offered a lot more than just your normal coffee. On top of a range of hot drinks, this place also offers small bites to eat including soup and small sandwiches. When I was in, the coffee House was not full, but was certainly getting busier when I left during the mid afternoon. A laid back atmosphere which is always nice when having a coffee.

It was busy when I arrived, with a steady queue of folks waiting. I received a warm and friendly welcome; not just at the desk but as I came in, which was lovely. Staff were working fast, and I had a wee wait, but I was happy to wait a tad longer for my latte to go considering just how busy it was. The result was worth every second, and I'm going to go all out and say that I think I'm going to struggle to find a better coffee in town. Delicious, and with a perfect frothy milk top. Ensuring that morning coffee from D'Nisi doesn't become a daily one...Now, that's going to be a challenge!

I had the smoked salmon burrito which was really delicious and just under £7 so it was quite expensive. I think the burrito was a safe dish to order so next time I would like to be more adventurous and try their traditional sausage as one of the servers in the shop described the sausage as having a 'unique' flavour. They also serve home baking, hot chocolate and, best of all, fresh muffins which are gorgeous.

This was served with crisps for about £4.50 which was an okay deal considering it was quite a lot of food. The roll tasted unusual but it was new, interesting and filling. The Zulu Lounge is a great alternative to the usual greasy spoons and certainly worth a visit for a culinary trip on the wild side!

Regardless of religion, everyone is made welcome,and the place got busier and busier with shoppers and visitors alike, all stocking up on some awesome traditional scran.
