I recently learned that Howard Wright-- a major investor and director of this establishment--was…read morefined for driving "in a dangerous manner" in an incident that involved a 12-year-old boy on an e-bike. A joke of a punishment for the crime. On video you can see this sick man speed up in a Audi, intentionally, to hit a child on a bike on the side of the road out of traffic. He proceeds to scream at the child, while the child pleaded for his life. I hope karma does her magic. Even more concerning is how Mr. Wright seemed to justify his actions by blaming the child's bike as "illegal," rather than genuinely acknowledging the danger and illegality his own driving posed. I expect higher ethical standards and community responsibility from anyone at the helm of a hospitality business. While the restaurant itself may serve somewhat average food or drinks, I personally cannot support an establishment whose leadership shows such disregard for safety and empathy--especially when a young child's wellbeing is at stake. Until clear accountability and genuine remorse are demonstrated, I'll be dining elsewhere. If you care about patronizing businesses that reflect your values, I would encourage you to consider taking your money and support elsewhere, too. The experience at these venues sucked before these events occurred too, every other option nearby provide a way better experience. Terrible for family photos. Terrible lighting

Stumbled across this cafe bar by accident, as we approached the door we didn't know what to expect…read morebut oh my god. This place was gorgeous inside, real leather lounges which were comfy. There are heavy curtains hanging and behind one lot of curtains was the pool table. Tables and chairs a plenty so your sure to get a seat. They have a small nibble menu and the Italian meatballs were full of flavour and came out in this cute cast iron frypan with bread on the side. I ordered a Peroni beer and fell over backwards as it arrived in a 500ml glass. They also had a special going that is you order a pizza and two 300 ml Peroni beers you pay $25. This cafe wine beer bar had friendly staff and is an Italian bar. Definitely worth a visit if you want to meet up with friends over a quiet drink.

Finally! Sandgate has been screaming for a super funky place to go on a Sunday afternoon, and now…read morewe have one. Formally an access alley to the bike shop next door, Cardigan Bar's atmosphere is laid back and welcoming. Cardigan had amazing beers on tap, fantastic ciders and really good wine. The service couldn't be more friendly and relaxed and the live music is great. It's not trying to do everything, which is what I love about it. Food options are limited to cheese and olives which is really all you need for a relaxed afternoon or evening. But if you do get a little more hungry, the Thai place next door is happy to deliver take away to your table, or you can bring in pizza from down the road. The location is central and easy to get to. Seating is inside, around the bar or out on the footpath. I absolutely love this place.

Rarely and very rarely do i squeeze five drops of cheer from my bladder of sunshine and happiness,…read morehowever I have been caught off guard by the Cardigan bar and am now a willing slave to its charms of eccentricities. With a range of craft beers to challenge even the most adventurous Bavarian and a variety of music and artists on any day ending with Y, it is good times on a stick and in a glass. If stale clinical commercial bars and bistros are what your used to then feel free to stay there, because the Cardigan bar is what a bar should be, not designed for seating capacity and bar stools are very crude and impersonal and you have to crowd and push your way to the bar and I for one love it. You wont find your typical dynamic in this place Kitty Kat, although you will find lots of colour and characters to suit and that included the owners and their staff. And watch out for the ceramic eagle.

While I was getting bounced around like a pinball (due to the crowded nature of the main walkway to…read morethe bar), I was already planning what my Yelp review would focus on. The large number of people enjoying the beats? The unfortunate high quantity of gentlemen dancing on the mini stages that I can only assume were intended for ladies to use? The eclectic mix of music (ranging from house to samba)? Left to ponder all these questions, I approached the bar and asked for a drink. As an American, I noted my bartender's winning smile and the Dwayne Wade Miami Heat jersey she was wearing. As she turned around to get my beer, I also noticed she was not wearing any pants. I quickly glanced around and noticed that none of the bartenders or servers were wearing any pants (opting instead to wear skimpy bottoms that seemed more suited for the beach that was a block away). I really need to start paying better attention to my surroundings. Pros: Good mix of music (i.e not just strictly the same top 40 stuff) Fun crowd Large space Hot bartenders Cons: Although the overall space in the club is large, the dance area was fairly compact and crowded

I only went there because I was on a Contiki tour and we happened to stop here so I…read more reluctantly went inside. It was packed in there like sardines but no surprise there it is a night club. I have been to bars all over world but even I was shocked by how shitty the service was there, which I will explain in a minute. So when I went in we were given a ticket for one free drink so I figured how bad can it be. So I go to wait for my drink for almost 10 minutes and I notice all the female bartenders are dressed as 2 bit strippers wearing some ugly ass gold swimsuits, then I hear in a sarcastic screech voice "Hello!,hello!" finally a blonde bartender gave me some service. I gave her the drink ticket after she got me a BEER and she pulled the drink back and said "NO ITS FOR SHOTS AND MIXED DRINKS ONLY" I thought WTF since beer is cheaper than liquor. So I give her cash then have to wait for "Barbie" to give me my change since they had one register for the entire section of the bar. My English buddy Ali that I from my Contiki tour told me 20 minutes later after we got the hell out of there told me his bartender a petite asian gal was rude to him as well. Worst bar/club I have ever been in my life. Whore ompa-loompas are horrible bartenders.
