I was told to call them as a referral had been made upon my discharge. I called them twice and left voice mails each time the morning of my kidney stone. The phone system SUCKS. I have called 3 times in the last 3 weeks to cancel and reschedule my appointment with Dr. Romero. my calls were not returned. The message from Dr. Romero 's assistant is to not repeat call back as it would only delay return calls. You have got to be KIDDING me ! What a joke ! They think since Redding has only one Urology provider, they can ignore calls from patients. I am in the process of filing an official complaint with the Medical board and the Better Business Bureau. I have been having kidney pain for 2 months. I went to an ER in another state and I saw with my own eyes and was confirmed by the tech that I have a 9.2mmx5mm kidney stone in my left kidney. I have been having dull left flank pain and recurrent kidney infections during this time. I also found out I was 5weeks pregnant. I took two courses of antibiotics and keep getting infections and pain so I went to a tiny ER in Red Bluff and the doctor there referred me to see a urologist in Redding. I called the doctor she referred for an appointment (Dr. Fowler) and he denied wanting to see me because I'm pregnant. Sooooo I know this is just incompetence because you can still get treatment for kidney issues and stones during pregnancy. If a kidney stone is left untreated and keeps causing recurring infections (yes, stones can cause infections) it can lead to a significant increase in the risk of recurrent miscarriage, mild pre-eclampsia, chronic hypertension, gestational diabetes mellitus. This is so ridiculous. Even if a stone is stationary it can cause inflammation and irritation and the stone itself could be harboring infections. Thanks for denying me care or even evaluating my recurring urologic issues. read more

Worst specialist experience of my life and I wasn't even seen. I have had chronic pelvic pain for 5 months, which seems to manifest in my bladder. I have discomfort peeing, blood in my urine, etc. Basically chronic UTI symptoms that persist after antibiotic courses. I've been to the ER, urgent care, had countless doctors appointments to help diagnose me but to no avail. I got referred to this practice after my gynecologist recommended I see a urologist and my primary physician sent a referral. I called the practice and left messages to schedule an appointment, no response. Tried faxing over my completed new patient paperwork, fax machine wouldn't accept them. I ended up driving over an hour to the practice to drop off my paperwork and schedule an appointment in person. They straight up refused to see me despite a referral. They said that they "don't treat bladder pain". What urologist office doesn't diagnose and treat bladder pain??? I stood there in the office in amazement. This is the only Urology group in Redding and after months of agony, to hear that I won't be seen despite a referral crushed me. I am now forced to travel to the Bay Area to seek proper care. Urology is the branch of medicine and physiology concerned with the function and disorders of the urinary system... So tell me why chronic bladder pain, discomfort peeing, blood in my urine, etc. is not something Redding Urologic Associates can treat? Ridiculous. read more

Unfortunately, this is the only urology clinic in Redding, so I have to get use to them. There is a constant change of people in the office, including medical assistants. I never see the same person twice. Wonder why that is?! Doctor that I see seems pretty knowledgeable, but a bit hurried and rude at times. She seems bothered by questions I ask and just wants to get me out of the office. Hopefully, things will improve here. read more

They have a great staff, doctors, but you can never talk to anyone, leave a message, we'll sometimes it's more important Then leave a message!!! Waiting for pain pills at the pharmacy, no prescription, had to call 4 times to finally get two prescriptions, Love the doctor, but they need a more result procedure! I didn't appreciate waiting on news of my husband's surgery outcome from the doctor who had to be contacted by the surgical volunteer receptionist after I inquired about length is surgery, when he said he would visit with me in the waiting room after surgery was complete. Surgery might be routine for physicians, but it's not for the family waiting on news of their loved one. Poor communication by the physician. read more

I was given a referral to RUA by my GYN. After they had not contacted me for 10 days, I called them to make an appointment. They said they would have to get back to me because they didn't have the paperwork they needed. A month after that, I went into their office. Again they told me I needed more paperwork from the referring doctor. I went back to my GYN and asked them to fax over my entire file. They did so. I went back to RUA and they told me it takes time for the fax to go through. They would call me when the paperwork got there and they had gone over it. Ten days later, I called them again. They informed me they wouldn't take my case and I should get another referral. This is abysmal communication for a doctor's office. They should have let me know immediately that they needed more information. After they received that information, that should have let me know immediately that they wouldn't help me. Now, I am a month and a half into a medical problem and I must start over with another doctor. read more
