Just when you think it couldn't get worse, they put in...a pickleball court. They don't appear to adhere to any hours. From 8:30 am or 8:30 pm in every room of my house, I hear the playing. My neighbors have all kindly reached out asking them to mellow, but it is 7:42 pm and here we are still hearing the pickling. If the hours stopped at 5 or they used quieter paddles, I would cut them some slack. Our HOA has made excessively strict rules about the game, and as someone who loves to play, I'm not opposed. I just wished they would think about the fact they set up in a community with people who have tough jobs and would occasionally like to come home to some peace and quiet.

The teachers in…read morethe youth have zero control, kids are on their cell phones playing games, interrupting etc. They don't break up into small groups at youth group so it is impossible to meet other kids. The teachers are extremely focused on "bringing your friends from school" and that is about it! My boys attended for one year (5th and 7th grade) and didn't make a single friend. The women's ministry is lacking--they meet once a month if you have a toddler. The life groups fill up quickly and I wasn't allowed to join because it was "too late, too full." From the beginning and even now the treatment of respect and understanding from staff to the congregation is all there. The events they put on to help bring you closer to your faith and to communicate with other people is a bonus rather than just a normal Sunday service(s). I have been service with them shortly after and can say even behind the scene's they take the challenges head on to make sure that all are welcome no matter what and that the children even have a great experience so that way the adults can encounter God. I love to call this church our church family. Its not a church you attend but a family where you belong.

Outdoor coffee hour. Beautiful worship. They provide a hot meal and showers on Saturdays for people in the community. Food pantry on Thursdays. Mail service. Document storage. Working with community organizers to keep elected officials on track with their promises for affordable housing and other services to improve Encinitas and the lives of people here. They're not perfect. No group of humans is. But they love people, and are always growing and striving to be better. I highly recommend St Andrew's!

The church we went to before was so big that the pastor could never remember us, even though we talked to him many times. At Beacon's Bible church, we have found a true church family, with solid Bible doctrine and Christian fellowship. Pastor Mike and his wife Starla go above and beyond to get to know all of the church members, and provide exceptional pastoral care. They have services at 10am on Sundays and Bible study on Wednesdays at 630pm with dinner served. They also have Men's Bible study, Women's Bible study, and Children's and Youth Ministries.

Today I needed more spirituality and culture…read morethan going to the gym so I checked what was going on for free around and saw an architectural tour of this church organized by La Jolla Historical Society. As I had recently attended another tour organized by them I knew that this would not disappoint. Oh my, it exceeded expectations! I would not enter the post-modern architectural label by Charles Moore, as another fellow Yelper has said it all with details. I will tell you how this place made me feel. The Church of Nativity made me feel at home, welcomed, nurtured. The presenter/tour guide is a lawyer who grew up attending it and still does. He did an excellent job making people welcome (we were many attendees) and answered the questions with grace and knowledge. Thanks so much to him and all that participated. The gardens with orange trees are wonderful and peaceful. I loved the asymmetry in the disposition of the seating areas, the cross not placed where you would expect, the minimalism, the pristine state of everything. My favorite thing was the stars sculpture/lights adorning the altar. That is so unique. Never seen that at any church and just the craftsmanship, design and quality of materials is impressive. Another favorite part were those unique stained glass windows. So enchanting. It was a very sensorial experience for me, even if no music was played, I think I heard a celestial choir direct from heaven! A must visit hidden gem (whether you are spiritually inclined or not).
