Would you consider service to be high church? In Texas there are some Episcopal churches that are…

Hi Steven! "High church" can mean a few different things. If you're asking "do we have lots of "smells & bells"?", we just ring bells a few times during Eucharist, and only use incense on special Feast days. Our altar party wears vestments, so… Read more

IF you are looking for an authentic Roman Catholic Church, w/ careful adherence to the Catechism,…read moremeaningful worship & respect for God, & a growing vibrant community of young families & "olders" alike (who are friendly & welcoming OUTSIDE of the sacred space), this might be the parish for you. Father Jim is a priest's priest w/ a terrific sense of humor who gladly shares the TRUTH of our faith. I especially like having the opportunity to kneel for Holy Communion & the generous amount of time given to the Exposition of the Sacred Body of Christ during Eucharistic Adoration. The Altar Society is active & reverent & there are a surprising number of reverent younger men in the Knights of Columbus. Weekly talks are given in the hall by visiting scholars & the community enjoys wonderful opportunities to "break bread" with one another at social events & the delicious Lenten Fish Fry. (ALSO love those dedicated cooks at 1st Sunday of the Month Taco & Enchilada sales - shout out to Maria!!) I have recently moved to a very nice parish in Fort Worth, but do miss the MOST IMPACTFUL parish I have ever belonged to, St John the Evangelist. Kudos to Father Jim & the ladies in the office / looking at you, Jeanette! Thank you for being such a spiritually nurturing parish. Alexandra Cloney

As I had recently attended another tour organized by them I knew that this would not disappoint. Oh my, it exceeded expectations! I would not enter the post-modern architectural label by Charles Moore, as another fellow Yelper has said it all with details. I will tell you how this place made me feel. The Church of Nativity made me feel at home, welcomed, nurtured. The presenter/tour guide is a lawyer who grew up attending it and still does. He did an excellent job making people welcome (we were many attendees) and answered the questions with grace and knowledge. Thanks so much to him and all that participated. The gardens with orange trees are wonderful and peaceful. I loved the asymmetry in the disposition of the seating areas, the cross not placed where you would expect, the minimalism, the pristine state of everything. My favorite thing was the stars sculpture/lights adorning the altar. That is so unique. Never seen that at any church and just the craftsmanship, design and quality of materials is impressive. Another favorite part were those unique stained glass windows. So enchanting. It was a very sensorial experience for me, even if no music was played, I think I heard a celestial choir direct from heaven! A must visit hidden gem (whether you are spiritually inclined or not).
