It may have been larger, but they had so many machines that were in disrepair that you can't even count those. - Convenient hours. What's more convenient than 24/7, even on holidays? - Quality of equipment. On one hand, its very satisfying working out with a simple barbell or dumbbell, and this gym has plenty of those. I believe they have three different sets of dumbbells and more barbells than I've seen in larger, commercial gyms. On the other hand, this place also has unique equipment that I've not seen elsewhere if you're looking for a bigger variety of a workout. The only downside is the cost -- its definitely more expensive than commercial gyms, but I honestly believe you get what you paid for here. The convenience of hours, the quality of equipment, and the helpfulness and friendliness of the people make it well worth it.

The staff is so friendly and they know your name. The gym is always clean with machines always working. There's a wide range of classes at all times of the day, and my new personal favorite, the on-demand reformer pilates has been the BEST thing. The gym is never overly crowded and all of the gym goers are clean and respectful of the shared spaces. I also love that you have access to a sauna and high-end massage chairs, and those are the perfect ways to end my workouts. Honestly, sometimes I only workout just to use those when I'm done (not that it's a requirement, but my own personal motivation). The gym also does really fun challenges that I love taking part in. Joining Energy has been the best thing for my fitness and health journey.

She finally got pricing and said she would go over it with her husband (me, since we were considering joining together) and come back tomorrow. When she went back the next day, she was told to wait for someone to meet with her. After waiting for an obscene amount of time, she asked to speak with a manager. The receptionist told her that nobody was available. She left her name and number for a MANAGER to call her back. Someone called her back an hour or so later - it was not a manager. By this time she could not return to the club to sign up and asked if they would honor the holiday weekend pricing if she came in the next day. She was told no but she could sign up over the phone. My wife informed them that she could not read the contract over the phone. They basically said "too bad." Bottom line, she did not join. The customer service there is awful. Had my wife been treated with some respect she would have signed up. It's a shame because the price was decent and the amenities (including a pool) seem to be pretty good, though reading some of the other reviews, I'm beginning to think this was a blessing in disguise.

The circuit machines are not fixed such as hamstring and back machines. Most circuit machines tension is broken and therefore movement is very repeatedly jolted through the set causing back issues. And 3/4 of the treadmills are out of service. As well as bikes elliptical and stair masters. It's bad enough the wait time due to the enormous crowds but to have to wait bc of broken equipment no one cares or tries to fix is insane. Treadmills are ancient as well. You'd think they would just bring in new equipment. It's disturbing watching them sell the gym to potential customers . It's like selling a faulty car but not stating it. Just awful. Original review: If zero was an option that would be it. This gym has the bones to be an amazing gym. However multiple machines do not work with signs of being repaired for years ... stairmaster bikes treadmills elliptical. The circuit weight machines often jerk in movement and tension is off and missing levers to change weight. Most recently there are NO pins in 80% of machines probably more. To the point customers are buying their own pins or customers are using makeshift pins jamming up the equipment which is then unusable. Staff do not care. When they are touring new perspective clients they aren't saying the machines with signs have had these signs for months or years with no repairs. Corporate doesn't care bc if they did they'd come out and help get the gym up and running appropriately. The staff are kids and although I feel bad they are the sounding board they are representing this gym. People are buying pins on Amazon overnight yet the facility can't resolve the issue. Everyday I hope to walk in and see the issues resolved; thinking how can this even be real but to my disappointment no progress. Customers are walking around disgruntled and frustrated searching for pins and unable to complete workouts. With Centereach location recently closing you'd think they can get pins from there and swap out for working equipment. Bathrooms are outdated dirty and not cleaned regularly. LA fitness needs management who take pride in their facility. In addition they are less then a mile from DICKS where they can get pins even if it's temporary. Now they offer pins at the desk "for collateral" and these pins don't fit in all machines. This gym is surrounded by other gyms within a mile which are way less money and in working order.

The place is fairly clean and neat depending on the time of day. Students are pretty respectful of the equipment and do their best to wipe down their benches. The Rec center also offers a wide variety of fitness classes all done through the Athleto app. It's a quick and easy way to sign up and ensure that you have a spot. Also Tip: Always bring a lock if you need to store things. They do sell locks in their vending machines which can cost up to 5$.

Already from the moment I sat down I could tell something was off, he proceeded to show me their different plans and was just barreling through a half asses explanation that was different than the plans shown on their website. Anytime I had a question or brought up a discrepancy in the information he gave compared to their website he seems to get more and more agitated. As I was still trying to decide what the best option might be for me I asked to start with a trial membership and was told no straight up and that he could give a trial membership to a friend or family after I sign up. Again I said that their website had the option and he retorted that I had mentioned being a guest once before so why would I need a trial membership when I've worked out at one of their gyms as a guest before and all of their gyms are the same. I'm sorry but isn't it common to want to try something out before making a big commitment, ESPECIALLY to a gym that is not that cheap. I was very taken aback by his tone and aggressive demeanor and requested to speak with someone else. Again he said "NO". From what I gather his sales tactic is to bombard with information and make you say yes before you know what you've signed up for. Extremely aggressive sales rep and extremely rude. Honestly, I probably dodged a bullet because every review I've seen after that encounter was negative talking about how dirty it is and how the equipment is always broken and how rude, aggressive and pushy the staff is. I would give zero stars if I could. Unfortunate because the location is convenient but I'll have to find a place that has staff customer service skills and is not so run down. DO NOT GO HERE!

This gym has gotten incredibly bad due to management. The manager Mike specifically is doing a…read moreterrible job at managing this location. Many of the machines are so broken its a safety hazard. After using the pool my friend got a rash on her legs. The bathrooms are literally falling apart in places. I havent been able to use the sauna because it doesn't look clean. I've seen this manager get nasty with employees and say some very crude things to people. Hopefully they hire a new management team soon as I canceled my membership and so did my friend bevause of how we say him treating 2 of his staff members (maintenance i think). Using my backup account as I am concerned he will approach me due to this review if I ever go there again.
