Redfin is not worth the .5% off. As soon as the sale of my home was complete my realtor completely ghosted me. Essentially getting her percentage and disappearing. Not even a thanks. In addition. It was never made clear to me that negotiating "seller concessions" still means you are paying the realtors on the full sale price value of the home. So in my case I paid the realtors on a sale price of 1.2m but in fact the sale price of my home was 1.175m. This was never made clear to me and in fact I was told "this is just the way things are done now". A seller is way better off just negotiating down the sale price of the home. At the end of the day the realtors got an extra $1125 out of the sale of my home. Not the end of the world, but very shady nonetheless. Not happy with Redfin and will not use them again. read more

Redfin reached out to schedule a walk thru this morning to view a house listed for sale. They showed that the buyers agent name is Michael McDaniel with license # 33358. After we had the seller make accomodation to their preferred showing time this morning they stopped responding. I kept reaching out to verify so i can let seller know if they should stay and wait. I begged for response. I had to call in multiple time to a call center who was unable to get a hold of anyone Redfins call center appears to be based in outher countries. I've used Redfin as my go to for numerous home purchase searches. Never wavered. When it was time to put our home on the rental market, of course, I went directly to my go to. The process has been terrible and there is zero customer service support available. I will never recommend or use Redfin again. For anyone in need of a resource, Zillow has been stable. read more

Had a buyers agent from Redfin submit an LOWBALL offer on a property I own. Not only did they NOT ever do an inspection but the realtor decided to post INSANE fictional claims on Redfin just because she didn't make her 1% commission. I have had 10 offers higher so I countered with full price. Turned the agent into the real estate commission and Redfin into the FTC. They are legally liable for FAKE posts. I sent the FTC the lowball offer I didn't accept. As of Oct 24th they will start filing charges against these companies that don't verify the posts are valid. The real estate commission can displine redfin for not keeping track of the agents. Appraisals determine value. If I have had higher offers I turned DOWN. STAY AWAY!!! This company is terrible!!! The process has been an absolute nightmare. My first agent quit on me and didn't tell me. I get a call from another agent introducing himself as my new agent. I had to submit the same documentation to them 4 times. They do nothing to "represent" you. I did all the leg work in regard to make sure the process was in order. I feel robbed to pay them a substantial commission. There is so much more to it, but I will not bore with all the details. There's a reason that their fees are lower. I called the agent, agent said to me notifications was sent. I then checked my email, saw an email as picture attached. 1) My appointment was scheduled for 12/4/2020 @ 630pm. We tried using Redfin to sell our condo. While the initial setup with the agents went well and they were attentive to the process, that is where the good things ended. It turns out that Redfin operates primarily on the premise that using the Internet and social media is all you need to market a home for sale. While that generates a lot of traffic to a listing, the ball eventually got dropped entirely, as Redfin did not use any actual human beings to encourage potential buyers. They essentially just relied on the computer-driven adverts to pull people in, typically third-party agents who knew little, if anything, about our home. And only two Redfin's agents even showed our home to buyers and when they did, they also did not know very much about our property. I ended up having to answer questions for several of the potential buyers, something that I could tell really turned them off to the idea of buying. We ended up only having a few showings over a 6 week period. The agent assigned to my home gave mostly unhelpful answers to my questions and seemed to be very preoccupied with other matters, leaving me to feel that I really was not getting any kind of personal service at all. The agent also did not suggest any kinds of selling strategies when it became obvious that things had stalled. All in all, you really are not saving any money going with Redfin. I ended up severing my contract with Redfin after 6 weeks of tepid results and I hired a local real estate agent instead. It was like the difference between night and day, so far as the level of personalized care. read more

When I tried to get to the bottom of it I was told that they were busy, had another call on the other line and had to go. Seeing as this was our first home purchase, we were looking for someone to support us through the entire process. From the first time we met with Arthur we were provided with incredibly thorough, reliable information to begin the housing search. Not only was he easily reachable via both phone and email, but he also had a team of people working with him to ensure no question went unanswered. Some cool things about Redfin overall is that 1) there is ALWAYS someone available to take you on a tour of any home you're interested and 2) if you buy a house then they're literally paying you to be your agent. He made it pretty obvious they have no interest in my business and their "valuation software" seems like a honeypot to get new clients in their pipeline (because questioning misinformation contained in their listing apparently isn't worth their time). Seeing their 1% listing fee everywhere in Seattle, I thought I'd reach out to talk with Redfin agent about listing my house in Madrona which would be around $1.5M. First off, the process was flawed. On my Redfin account, it assigned me of an agent who predominately lists and sells in the Eastside, very few in Seattle. So I used its form and submitted a request for an agent specializing in my area, and I got an email back with link to agents in Santa Barbara, CA! I wish I got a house in Santa Barbara! So I entered my zip code and 3 Redfin agents came up. I called one, it as a pre-screening coordinator who answered the phone. I called on a Monday morning, the coordinator said Forrest did not have any consultation openings for the whole week. He then referred to another agent who had opening and turned out to be the Eastside agent I was originally assigned to. Unless you're a savvy homeowner who needs knows how to get your house ready for the market and just need a licensed broker to put it on the NWMLS database and host a couple of open-houses, Redfin isn't a good option, not to mention their process is rather flawed. read more

Would absolutely not recommend Redfin, under price your home... wait for 3-5 days and then think they've done something amazing for you when it's simply the inexperience of the majority of their agents that can't even give you sound advice or answers that make sense. So we just closed on the sale of our home. The real estate agent David Hokenson tried to tell me our home was only worth 580, and we just closed for 635, with the inspection and appraisal waived. Had we gone with David and Redfin we would've lost out on $55,000. My point is made these people do not know what they are doing they are low budget real estate agency with low expectations for the sale of your home. read more

Our experience with Shauna Pendleton and Redfin was...less than stellar. In a market where the house sells itself, we did not expect much from our selling agent, but somehow Shauna Pendleton offered even less than we expected. She provided the bare minimum real estate service. The service that she provided included her showing up and attaching her name to the listing board out in front of our home. At times, she was a strong advocate. Unfortunately, it was for the buyers of our home. Our final experience with her was a curt phone call telling us to leave the key of our old home under the mat as to allow the new buyers immediate access to their new home upon our departure. Due to this experience with Shauna Pendleton and Redfin, we are not comfortable recommending this agency to anyone. Shauna Pendleton no longer works in the Seattle area, but 1 star agents like her (and all the other 1 star Redfin agents who have been reviewed here) speak to what type of people Redfin choose to allow to represent their brand. I would rather pay a little more for much better service. Use Redfin at your own risk. read more

Buying home should be a happy memory! However, when I was excited to check everything, I realized the basic thing, gate remote and mailbox key don't work. Especially the mailbox key, I never expected the mailbox key is fake. I think a responsible listing agent should make sure all the keys work, instead of leaving all the mess to the buyer. My agent and I tried to contact the listing agent when I found out the problems. But the listing agent, Danny Choi, didn't solve the problems. All the things really ruined my experience and make my whole moving process troublesome! Redfin staff said those things work, but they didn't work. After the house was closed, they responded very very slowly and helpless. I hope the review can help anyone who is going to buy home from Redfin. If there are keys or any remote in the home you are interested in, check by yourself if they work. Because there is a chance they are fake and not work at all! read more

Unfortunately, I did have a negative experience selling my home with Redfin this summer. We loved the marketing package which is what sold us on this company. However, our pictures and 3D rendering were completed before the house was cleaned. We found it odd that no one, including the photographer, thought twice about photographing a dirty unit. They did end up retaking everything but it did cause unnecessary stress as we were under a tight deadline and out of state. This was just the first of much worse to come. Our unit took several weeks to list on Zillow and wasn't showing up on other sites. We were told "everyone" was having troubles listing on Zillow yet as the weeks went by we took matters into our own hands and were told Redfin never provided the information. All this happened while open houses only had a handful of visitors, many of which were building lookieloos. Additionally our agent fought with us on price, saying a lower listing price would equal multiple offers. When that didnt work out she blammed us and wanted us to list below what we paid for our unit. She was frequently out of town and constantly asking us questions like "does the unit have ac?". She was the listing agent and this was all listed in the listing materials. She should have known better. This all culminated in our agent leaving Redfin in which we were left reaching out to Redfin about what was going on (we were pending with a buyer). We were notfied another agent was taking over and was assured he was "the best" in their agency. This agent left alot to be desired if he was the best. He had little communication with us and offered no apology for the stressful nature of having an agent quit on you mid-transaction. We were made to feel like we were "lucky" to be working with him. In the end we did leave a review with Re dfin regarding the above. A manager reached out to us and again pointed out that we had "the best" agent and wanted to know what went wrong. We replied in more detail and never heard a word from them again. To make it clear: would not use again and wouldn't recommend to ANYONE. read more

Pro: I love the RedFin mobile app. Absolutely love - love - love RedFin's mobile app! Con: On the RedFin website, after you have chosen a RedFin agent you would like to work with, it's only natural to assume you would be working the most with that person right? Nope. We saw our actual agent a total of 3 times in a span of an entire month. She was never, ever available on any of the weekends and her 3-day weekends "trips" were frequent. We were bounced back and forth by her support team. There is no consistent right of contact. Every time you want to see a property, it's automated to a touring agent whom you most likely have never met and knows nothing about you. Bad idea. Our RedFin agent (Abby Baker) was not really involved until we already submitted an offer. You're on your own. She rushed on the paperwork. We had to contact her constantly. I'm counting 8-9 times there were big obvious mistake like date, name, price, date to respond etc. These are SUPER important things on a super important document! We caught all but one mistake the final time. She forgot to change the old date to the new date so when our mortgage lender saw the old date and thought we were in a rush to close. He charged us a $250 fee for rushed service that we didn't need! Thanks a bunch RedFin. Our seller's agent was spectacularly difficult. He was so passive aggressive and I learned after we closed that his industry reputation was not an earnest one. Neighborhood familiarity is important and even if RedFin claims their agent specialize in that - it doesn't matter. Your agent won't be there with you or even tour with you. Their support team does the paperwork and you are on your own for the rest of it. Going with a RedFin home inspector...(ours was Wil Harnecker) I find most home inspectors are generally not that experienced. In the state of Washington for you to become an inspector all you need is a contractor background and a 8 hour training course! Just 8 hours to review everything you need to know about a house. Wil didn't note our plumbing was illegally installed AND our roof gasket was gnawed by a rodent but not the fact that the entire gasket cover was also incorrectly installed (ie cutting corners). Our nightmares haven't even begun yet but I don't want to bore you with the details. Ugh. Just awful, even with the rebate, we definitely overpaid. Since he was a first time home buyer and because we live in California and couldn't travel to Seattle during Covid to help him with any part of the process, we had lot of concerns and questions. Matt Goyer of Redfin Realty did an incredible job of walking us through every step. Prior to adding this condo to possible properties, Matt and his work partner Marie Nennemann showed our son many houses and condos that were on the market, and both were always friendly, thorough, patient, punctual, and professional. Matt and Marie were honest and candid about the pros and cons of each property and the finances involved. Once our son decided that a Beacon Hill condo was the home he wanted to purchase, we grew more appreciative of Matt. We had lots of questions during the process, and he was always prompt in returning our calls, comforting in putting our concerns to rest, patient with our inexperience, and incredibly knowledgeable. He even called us back one evening from home and spent a lot of time going though our questions one by one rather than taking the time to read bedtime stories to his two children. Matt has an ability to explain complex real estate issues in easy-to-understand way. He took the extra steps of getting our son in touch with inspectors, repairmen, carpet company, painter, and water heater company, all of whom we were very happy with. We are so glad that Matt was recommended to our son and that we got to work with him and with his partner Marie. read more

We have been working with Mark Queen at Redfin to sell our house in Kent. He was extremely knowledgeable and helped us determine what we needed to do to prepare our house for sale. He even provided referrals to cleaners, stagers and people who could update our insulation. Mark visited us several times prior to putting the house on the market. We felt like we could ask him for all kinds of advice. When it came time to put the house up on the market he worked tirelessly to show the house and vet all of the offers that came in. I would recommend to anyone who is trying to sell s house... ask for Mark Queen. He is fantastic. read more

Awful experience as both buyer and seller - Redfin discount did not come close to offsetting the hidden costs of using them. Redfin sold our home in Seattle this fall. They did not do an open house despite our multiple requests, with the claim that we didn't need one. They didn't even put a sign out front until we insisted, first saying a sign isn't even needed these days, and then after making excuses based on a high-volume sign scheduling system that didn't accommodate flexibility, they put up a sign but only after a week or so. There were no flyers printed, so people who toured had nothing to take with them to remind them. When we realized there were no flyers after stopping by the house, we were told they weren't needed because everything's online. We insisted and they finally printed them but they weren't put in the house until the day before the review date, after potential buyers had toured. I had also asked about clues that construction was about to happen on our street and my questions were ignored. I think an attentive agent may have looked up that information? Sure enough there was a street closure/detour/loud construction in the middle of our listing time. Redfin assumed that it just being listed online would mean the house would sell itself. It was a "hot home" but the offer review date came and went with no offers. It finally sold, for asking, after one offer. The following week, a much shabbier house 3 houses away listed by another Redfin agent (this one had an open house and a sign) sold for about 25% per square feet more than ours did. Looking up comps in the neighborhood now, I see that most houses sold for about 25% - 40% more per square foot than our house sold for - With the exception of a tear-down, our house in fact sold for the fewest dollars per square foot in the entire neighborhood in the past 6 months, despite it being very clearly based on listing photos a house was average or better than average in terms of quality/condition. The numbers say it all. I can't think of any instance in which Redfin would be a good choice for a seller. We attempted to buy a house with Redfin for some time before cutting ties and looking for an agent who had more human humane understanding. Our first agent was very responsive to us but we had a personality clash (nothing unprofessional, just preference.) We have switched agents since then because the agents we received were only bare minimum to the point in which they just were unhelpful. They don't share opinions and are often non-responsive. We have made several offers (Redfin CAN put together an offer for you!) but they had very little insight on how to write a strong offer. We have also had at least 3 instances in which tours were not available/cancelled or otherwise chaotic or only responded to at the last minute. We had at one instance in which a house went pending after our agent never bothered to call the seller agent to tell them we had an offer in the works. The positive is that a lot the showing reps (we got to know many) were really friendly and they actually offered us way more insights and strategy ideas than any of our agents ever did. I think Redfin would only good as a buyer if you don't want any strategy assistance and just need someone to write an offer for you when you know exactly what to waive/escalate etc. and don't want agent opinion. read more

The Olympia WA Redfin real estate agent Mark Queen whom we hired to sell or house sabotaged us by giving us bad advice, by not responding to interested buyers' agents, doing zero marketing, taking absolutely no initiative and being extremely unresponsive to us. The damage was so big that we were not able to reverse it even after we changed agents. read more

After receiving a reply from the owner's attorney via the Attorney General's office, we now know definitively that Jenny Dedrick and Refin were responsible for us losing the house that we HAD A PURCHASE AGREEMENT ON. As per their attorney, we were to have signed paperwork on or prior to 1/4/2023. This paperwork was never presented to us, therefore, it was never signed. Since this paperwork was not signed, the owners cancelled our purchase agreement and moved forward with another buyer. After Jenny Dedrick found out about the other offer, she asked us if we would amend the price of our house so our buyer could be non-contingent. This was on 1/10/2023. It was already too late, but we didn't know that. We agreed to amend the price from $345,000 to $340,000 netting us a loss of $5,000 on the sale of our home that we ALREADY HAD A PURCHASE AGREEMENT ON. The inspection on the purchased property had already been done and paid for. Jenny assured us for over a week that we would not be losing the house, and that we did not need to sign the cancellation agreement. The stress during this time was incredible. We looked for our "perfect retirement home" for a year and a half and it looked like we could be losing it. We had ZERO intention of moving until we found the perfect home! After all was said and done, we had sold our home and had no home to move into. We were dividing our belongings into 3 parts. One part that could go into a POD for storage (things that could freeze), one part that had to go into a heated storage unit, and things that we would have to bring with us into our temporary housing while we started a new home search. This was another highly stressful situation; looking for places to store all our things, pricing it, figuring out how to move it and not knowing how long we'd be without a home. We found a home, but it is NOT the home we would have chosen if we did not need a house immediately. Because we already had a deadline to be out of our home, we did not have time to get an inspection on the new home. Redfin reduced some closing fees by $2500. We are still out $3000 (house reduction price and inspection). We asked Redfin to pay us the $3,000 that we lost due to their realtor's error. We also asked  Redfin pay for an inspection on the home that we had to buy so we would have somewhere to live. We are particularly concerned about radon since this home has a well and a basement.  We have gotten NO responses to our requests to get our lost money returned! This was a gross error on her part and we are still in shock that we are in a home that isn't the perfect home for us simply because we needed a place to live. It is unconscionable that we could lose a home and our hard-earned money through absolutely no fault of our own, but due to a professional's error. We are still heartbroken every time we look out a window and see a neighbor instead of the 4 acres of woods and the river that we had originally purchased. So I saw Myung show up 10 minutes before the scheduled home tour to check out the exterior of the house. - Prepared: He provided me with a manila folder with the tour kit documents and walked me through the Redfin process, my buying agent, and that I'm free to ask my agent as many questions as I'd like. - Detailed Oriented: Noticed degradation of popcorn ceiling, made me aware of outside noises, and what to expect with the sun shining through the house during the different seasons. - Knowledgeable about home construction: By looking at the rafters, he could tell whether the house originally had composite shingles or cedar shake shingles and explained to me the construction. Home construction knowledge is incredibly useful especially when you want a trustworthy opinion while you're touring a home. - Knowledgeable about the local area: He knew about the old highways, traffic flow, and other economic conditions in the local area which is extremely helpful to a home buyer. - Excellent time management - He told me that it might make sense to get through a little faster because he knew I had another set of homes to look at with another Redfin agent. I am a first time home buyer looking to buy a small home in Seattle. I've done all of my research and got a loan approval lined up. I enjoy searching properties on Redfin's website, so I thought I would give them a try to be my buyer's agent. I have a busy schedule and it was very difficult to schedule a home tour at a time that worked for me. Their agents took most of the day to call me back and then would only be able to schedule showings 3-4 days out. The biggest problem that I had is that once I finally got my showing scheduled, they STOOD ME UP! I stood there waiting at the house for them. No call, no email, nothing. I tried calling the agent's cell number and only received voice mail. This was totally rude and unprofessional. I am taking my business elsewhere. Maybe Redfin should focus on what it does best, which is its website, not its customer service. read more

When selling, you get what you pay for. I love the idea of Redfin. As the average urban home price creeps above half-a-million dollars, taking 6% from the seller is a crime. I'm all for agents getting what they're due, but the high commissions are contributing to a lot of oafishness in the industry and the end-customers wind up losing. In good conscience, I can't support an industry where the lousiest agent routinely makes more money annually than the best high school teacher in Seattle. Sorry, agent friends, that's what I think. So, Redfin. I'm currently selling a house with them, and I'm unfortunately getting what I'm paying for. Like most other industries that rely on personal contact to service customers, Redfin is making the worst of their hands-off approach to listing. Where a 3% agent would be bending over backward to make sure that no balls are dropped, Redfin spreads each agent thinly over a wide number of listings and there are balls all over the floor. What's worse is that Redfin tries to sell their services with the same front originated by the worst web-based charlatans. My agent described their company as one that 'enables buyers and sellers to discover properties', which is web-speak for "we don't do squat for you besides post your house on a website". They do more than that, obviously, but you get my drift. Their actual offerings are waning with recent crackdowns from the local real estate mafia. They do hang your sign. They don't feature or market your house, though. The popular, informative blog they had is now pointless thanks to industry crackdown. It's going to be replaced by a forum (more self-service, customer community nonsense) that could fall prey to the same MLS revolt that doomed their blog. The sole marketing for a listing is their template-driven bulk postings to Craigslist.org every week or so. When you do need help, you queue up for agents' attention and, though usually prompt and always friendly, very seldom get real-time service. The dropped balls and templatized solutions to issues really shade out any benefit to their sales model. A huge benefit to listing with a large company like Windermere is the inherent nepotism between listing and buyers' agents. Buyer agents have a wealth of listings to push on their clients, and I would question Windermere's sanity if they didn't secretly encourage agents to keep the deals within their holdings. Redfin's policy of 'encouraging discovery' blows holes in that immense benefit. The question to ask yourself is this: Will your house sell itself? Redfin isn't going to sell it for you. They're not, it's not in their business model at all to do so. They might get to the point where they're smarter about what they're doing for their customers, but for now, listing a house on Redfin is a lot of work. It's cheap though, so there's a value proposition in play that will help or hurt you, depending on your work ethic. The last thing that should be stated, in the completion of the 'caveat emptor' discussion, is that Redfin listings are actively shunned by agents from other companies. On top of the backlash following Redfin's endorsement in the local and national press, it's common knowledge that RF's growing pains and institutionalized poor service are costly to buyers' agents. The combination of the implicit boycott of Redfin's business model and Redfin's lackluster service make selling your home an increasingly difficult prospect. So much for the money you're saving? Update since original posting: They screwed up another promise, and my house lost visibility on the MLS for another weekend. The fourth out of four weekends. I'm lowering my rating to 2 stars and adding this paragraph, and we're going to pull our house off RF and use a friend who works at Windermere to help. Get it together, Redfin! Bottom Line: You get what you pay for. You're potentially saving tens of thousands of dollars, which can't be ignored. As far as a service, they do slightly better than the FSBO route, but their stated business model implies that the intent is to do as little as possible to market your home. Your money gets a listing, a sign, a mention on a go-nowhere blog, and a poorly-designed PDF flyer, nothing else. read more

The minimal refunds offered by Redfin don't come close to making up for the poor service that their "team" approach to service. It seemed that every time that we needed to get guidance from our agent, he was on his "weekend" and the service offered by their "team" proved to be ineffective. Poor service resulted in purchasing a home with some major problems. When we asked for their guidance in dealing with the problems, they quickly just said to contact a real estate attorney. We are in the last days of wrapping our home sale and home purchase with Redfin. We could not have been more pleased with their service. I think your experience with Redfin will depend hugely on expectations. If you expect someone to work under the old style of home buying and selling, someone to pick out homes for you to look at and spend a lot of time with you, this probably isn't the type of company you want to use. This is more like a tech company doing real estate. For us this was awesome. We met our selling agent only twice in person. We met our buying agent only once. Everything else was done via email (and they replied extremely quickly and concisely), text, and a few times, phone. Different parts of the process are covered by people who specialize in that area. There are people who handle the paperwork, people who do the pictures, people who do the virtual tours, people who put out the signs and flyers. All of them worked together and with us seamlessly. Their app and website are amazing and updated far more quickly than competitors. Redfin does amazing pictures. I believe pictures sell a house and I couldn't have been more pleased with how ours were taken. Also, they do beautiful, full color, double sided flyers. One of the coolest features is the 3-D walkthrough of the house, which allows you to see the floorplan and do a true virtual tour, Google street view style but inside your house (not just assemble the house pictures into a slideshow and call it a tour). For me, the best part was the ability to book showings online, selecting the time slots that worked for us. It meant we could see a property online and see it in person 2 hours later. Because of their structure, you are not dependent on your specific agent to see homes. Instead, they have a whole army of people who do nothing but show houses which means it works on your schedule. 9am-9pm, every day. Our selling agent, Rachel Ivy, was very thorough and knowledgable and worked hard to negotiate between the three offers we got on our home within the first 2 days. Our buying agent, Dean Lovitt, also was great, working tirelessly with some rather challenging sellers so that we could have the house we wanted. For me a real estate agent is like one of those disposable plastic rain coats. Just something you buy because it is raining and you need it right then and there, convenient but overpriced and you throw it away after you are done. Being the type A personality that I am I found our house using Redfin and bought myself a nice $9,000 lifetime supply of rain jackets with the money I got back at closing. Lol.. hopefully I didn't lose anybody on that oddball analogy. Hey it made sense in my head! So our experience was in a nutshell: Good. I loved working with the people at Redfin and they did fight hard for us on some issues. We ended up with a great house and money in our pockets. The only downfall is that you don't get the expert market advice of a Realtor, you have to spend time looking on-line yourself, everything is over the phone, and when you are in the process of making an offer with a Redfin agent you make the decisions. It is a great concept but not for the lazy or indecisive. You work for your cut of that commission but the great thing is that money is yours after everything is said and done. I don't know where the five-star reviews come from as my experience with Refin had been disappointing. I contacted them originally wanting someone to sell my house, but it took them two weeks to show up at my house and another two weeks to come up with a recommended price. Then I was told it would be another four weeks until they can take pictures and get the place ready. Their buying process is slightly faster but not by a lot so I went to a full-service agent who could meet my timelines. read more

Redfin's web interface is the best I've seen, and their touring scheduling system is amazing: I scheduled a total of two tours and got a call right away to schedule a time that was convenient to me--both times the next day, and even Sunday evening. Redfin is a great service if you're a new comer to the home buying experience. If you are looking to negotiate prices or terms, or if you're an experienced home buyer, I would not recommend the Redfin route. There's a consequence to not being commission based: I found not as much commitment and advocacy as I have found with commission-based brokerages. The agents we delt with seem to be there for primarily the administrative aspect of the transaction, and in spite of prodding from us, the negotiation never went beyond the Redfin agent asking the seller, "Are you sure they can't have that?" With prior homes, in a worse buyer's market, I've experienced considerably more personal investment and a sense of responsibility for advocating for the client. Still, Redfin genuinely puts extra emphasis on their customer service, and are excellent in this aspect. I'm generally impressed with the company, and am glad Seattle has Redfin. read more

We used Redfin last year when we purchased our first home. As a buyer, Redfin is a dream come true! You get money back! Michelle was our agent and she was fantastic, always very fast with email responses. Going to tour homes was a cinch, just request the homes you want to see and preferred dates and times and they schedule for you! We had no problems, everything transitioned very smoothly and it was super awesome getting some money back to put towards closing costs. I'm not 100% sure I would use them for selling a home, its something I would need to research more. But for buying? There is no negative selling point, they are an awesome way to buy a home and get a break on the price. I would recommend Redfin and any of there agents to anyone looking for great service and a wonderful deal! read more

I love Redfin! I just completed my first purchase of a home through Redfin. The process was totally smooth and really great. First off you just have to love that you can gain access to their site with all this rich information to browse the market all on your own. It's the ultimate research tool and super fun. It can get almost consuming the amount of time I can spend on their site just looking around the areas I would like to be or even areas where I can't :) Great site and very nice you get this access without commitment. This builds loyalty for me! Then... Lucky enough it came time to purchase a place. The process was great. The agent we selected was very awesome to work with and she treated us like A+ customer even though the purchase was a smaller one... Never, ever did I feel like I wasn't being totally taken care of. I would easily say to anyone out there who wants to buy a place; use Redfin. You won't be disappointed! read more
