When moving out we got charged for "dirty" bathrooms but had moldy toilets all year. My roomate has tried contacting them multiple times about the charges after move out and nothing.. 2. Maintance will just walk in 3. We got couches that were peeled so by the end of the year they were just ugly 4. More concerned about new residents than ones that have been there. What made us not resign was the bad communication with the people at the front, we were in a 4/4 apartment and were looking to move to a cottage the next year. I highly recommend you do not rent here. My daughter lived there for two years and they refused to make maintenance repairs that impacted their safety. Our lease just ended, and now they are charging for tons of minor cleaning fees, such as carpet, refrigerator, and ceiling fans. Would they actually rent to another tenant without cleaning these items. Why would they charge us for normal wear and tear. I see a major class action suit in the future against this company. Here's an update to my review and to the individual "saddened by my experience , Stating I've been in touch with the manager"... Megan the manager did call me back AFTER I called 7x within 1 hour and said I would not stop until she called me . I stayed on hold and insisted she come to the phone .. that is the ONLY way I got her on the phone. Please do not reply to my comment as though this has been remedied . No we had to break my son's lease and pay for extra expenses for the unexpected move corporate refuses to call me( I've left 4 messages and just have case numbers from a call center ) . As of 9/12 still no ac, found out the bugs were the extremely poisonous puss caterpillars as explained by Mtc. When they touch you the sting is similar to a stingray "Megan after our one 5 min call in an entire month insisted she would call me to tell me a pest control treatment plan because she has never seen anything like this before" that call never came from her instead She had her coworker call me the following day to say the exterior was sprayed and pressure washed but the bugs came back like we knew they would and it is a dangerous situation. This can only be fixed with a weekly treatment plan Again still waiting for a callback from corporate if you would like to facilitate that it would be greatly appreciated! read more

DO NOT MOVE HERE! I moved my daughter in here a year ago and the place was absolutely filthy and disgusting! Dust on walls, AC vents all full of black soot and mold, maggots in fridge as well as roaches! The walls and carpet were also black and stained up! Trash and food was left inside the apartment from previously lived in renters. The apartment was never cleaned prior to move in! I had to personally come to her apt and do a full clean myself and haul out all of the trash myself. The furniture package that they make you pay for was stained and ripped up , full of dust and her room had a really old mattress. The split bill for electricity water etc will be overcharged monthly as I called the city and was a way cheaper amount given! Robbing Students Blind!! I took and saved pictures and also sent this to management complaining in addition, I uploaded pics in the resident portal. Upon move out these people had the audacity to try and bill me for clean up to the apartment to a tune of $512.00! LMAO , ARE YOU SERIOUSLY CRAZY ?!?! After move out I was hit with almost 300 dollars in charges for a couple smudge marks a small wall anchor hole and a couple paint spots where I had command strips. money hungry company don't live here!!!! Maintenance will only fix things if you flag them down and have them come in right then. Often waited weeks to have them even come out to look at something. Our fridge was broken the entire year and the only thing they offered was to turn our fridge colder which caused ice in our fridge and the groceries inside to come out icy or frozen and sometimes unusable. Our AC was broken for 2-3 weeks during the summer and they never came to fix it. Many houses were unclean and unsafe when we moved in (mold, severely water damaged ceilings, generally unclean, etc.). Upon moving out they have charged me $188 to repaint my room, the downstairs, and to replace something my roommate has told them on numerous occasions was her doing (that they still haven't fixed). The charges were added to my account with no email or text notification. The people who work in the office are just fellow students so this is not their fault, the management needs to seriously change. Until then do not move here. read more

PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU RENT AT REDPOINT WEST TENN I usually try to add something good in my reviews before I talk about the bad but the only good thing I can say about this apartment was its proximity to FSU campus and its proximity to shopping....THATS IT! My daughter lived in a 2x2 for 2 years. Her specific unit was in constant disrepair. Her first year wasn't terrible. It was typical maintenance stuff. However at the start of her 2nd year it was something out of a nightmare!! Not only was there SERIOUS mold issues but a roach infestation that was never really resolved. The mold issue was in her roommate's room and the roommate was moved out during the mold remediation. My daughter was told her room was fine so they wouldn't move her. She dealt with headaches and illness for the rest of her year. The roaches were apparently coming from the apartment above her. They had to replace the refrigerator due to a nest that just appeared somewhere around the fridge. Management promised to have pest control come in monthly and they maybe came in one time. My daughter was constantly cleaning and killing roaches. It was hard to even keep food in the apartment. My daughter moved out in May (Thank the Lord) and by June the roommate was AGAIN being moved to a different unit due to the roaches. Management did nothing for my daughter!! I complained that there were what seemed to be mold in my daughter's bathroom and rotten trim around the tub but they will probably slap some paint on it and move in the next unsuspecting college student. I've never had a more negative experience with an apartment complex, EVER. They essentially stole hundreds of dollars of money because they charged my roommates and I EACH almost $300 for "damage charges" AFTER we moved out yet refused to give us an itemized receipt of what exactly we were paying for. They also do not have a manager, the whole staff is a bunch of college students that do not have the ability to actually help you with any issues you may have. Whenever I called the front office to express any concerns I had, all they would say is "I'm sorry, email the front office" and then when I did, they would not respond to the email, basically ignoring every concern that a resident may have. I've lived here for 2 years and moved to a different unit my second year, and BOTH units I lived in had bug infestations when I moved in that were not caused by me. Not to mention how they falsely advertise how they are going to "clean" the units prior to move-in, yet when I moved in both times, my apartments were disgustingly dirty, as well as the bug problem. Another thing is after only living there for about the first month, they tell you you have to resign or they are going to give your apartment to someone else, which is way too early in the year to make that decision in my opinion. The amount of broken appliances my roommates and I had when we first moved in also is insane, and then maintenance won't come and fix them for over a month. They also do not respect your privacy, random front office workers, as well as maintenance, will come barging in your bedroom to do "checks" every so often. My neighbor had even told me that one time he came home to them tearing down his posters in his living room for no reason, and then charged him $200 for damages even though THE WORKERS tore them down months before move-out came around. They also falsely advertise how they have all these amenities, yet this previous year I lived there, they wouldn't let you go to the pool for months in the summertime. There is so much more I could say about this complex, it is ridiculous, but that is the overall basis of why you should not live here. I recommend looking at literally any other complex in Tallahassee, because there is no possible way that they are as bad as this one. read more

I will be living there this upcoming year and I am so grateful for the staff working there. We had a great experience with them working with us to get a 6 month lease for my roommate, and they really went the extra mile to make sure we were getting exactly what we wanted. When one of our roommates fell through for our 5x5, Katherine did absolutely everything that she could to make sure we were able to get into a 4x4 apartment so that we weren't living with a random person. So incredibly thankful that they were so willing to work with us and did everything in their power to make sure our experience living there next year was as amazing as possible!! The pool was not working for the a lot of the year which is a key amenity. Also it was pretty annoying that the gate did not work for a lot of the year. I absolutely loved living here my senior year at FSU, I only wish I found it sooner so many student apartments in tally suck. Personally I never got hit with crazy fees or anything which is a huge issue at student complexes. I lived in a 4x4 super cute there were 3 bedrooms upstairs and I got the one downstairs which I was really upset about but i ended up liking it, it wasn't noisy like I thought it would be. My my roommates had graduated the year before so I had to move in with randoms and they were all so nice, respectful, and clean whoever matched us up i owe them one. I truly can't think of a single problem I had here! Not sure if they changed management since cause it's under a new name now. But I loved the houses and the pool. read more

I had a large amount of problems with the management of this complex especially during move in and move out. About a month or two before moving in I received a call from the complex saying they wouldn't be providing me furniture despite me signing for the furniture package. After having multiple emails ignored and phone calls not answered during their operating hours, I was finally able to get them to start talking to me after I sent an email saying I would use the arbitration clause in the lease agreement due to their breach of contract. I ended up getting my furniture but after moving in they hadn't connected our wifi and said that if we did it ourselves we would be fined $200. Me and my roommates ended up having to wait about 2-3 weeks before it was installed. Our AC was broken for months and it took about 5-6 maintenance requests to get it fixed. Now, after moving out I get sent a bill for a couple hundred dollars for repairs they allegedly made in my room. I asked my old roommate who still lives in our same unit and he said that nobody ever came in to make the repairs. So yet again I tried to contact them via phone calls, emails, and their own residential messaging system none of which they responded to. After not paying the bill for the damages that didn't exist they sent out an email threatening to send debt collectors to get the money, to which I responded asking questions and of course I got no response from them. I hope they see this review and decide to get back to me, but I will likely have to go to small claims court to get the money back that they wrongfully charged me. read more

The Republic, like any college complex, are sharks for money. They WILL charge you ridiculous amounts of money for anything and everything. Whether it be a missing screen (that had been gone for years, long before I moved in) or a tiny dent in a door knob that you never even noticed. They chose to charge my 5/5 over $100 (or 20 each), to replace a door knob (not a lock, a knob) and a screen. Neither of those cheap materials cost that much, even with labor. On top of this, a dent in a knob isn't even something that needs replacing. It's a nice place to live in Tallahassee if you are VERY cautious. My advice to anyone moving here, check your knobs or just write down that they are dented on your move-in form, because the furniture is so cheap it will just fall apart as you live there. Also, document everything. Living here has been a great learning experience that a company like this is not on my side. Just remember that money is this place's #1, not you. Well, besides maintenance, they rock. They will replace things as they break, be sure to call them before someone from the office does an inspection. read more

I have lived here 3 years and it was the biggest mistake i made while living my college experience. I originally signed when it was called university house retreat and was owned by a different company and had very helpful management. Once it switched to The Republic it has turned into the biggest money pit and the management takes advantage at taking your money at any chance they get. The only reasons why i stayed was because of the pool area, i enjoyed the space of my room, and my first two years i was a student at tcc, but it is still so far from everything else (more gas money to go to campus or friends aprtments, waking up earlier to get parking spots for class, higher uber cost, etc). On top of that my rent went up so much when they changed management and i could've been living at a much closer place at the same price that doesn't scam you and charge you with ridiculous fees quarterly throughout the year. I would absolutely not recommend living here unless you have a pet or plan on being very tedious with not getting any small damages (they charged my neighbors $100 for every "ruined" chair that was the cheapest piece of furniture that's most likely in a lot of student housing / and charged another friends house for their front doorhandle/keypad because it stopped working, they didn't do anything or damage themselves). My very subtle point here is, do not live here because the management literally gives no f*cks about you and will not help you with anything, you will be wasting so much money and giving it to messed up people. read more

I am absolutely livid. DO NOT SIGN HERE! For the amount that you are paying and how far you are living off of campus, it is not worth it. Despite negative reviews that we read before signing last fall (2016), we fell in love with what appeared to be a beautiful cottage with all the best fixtures. Right off the bat things have gone wrong, we move in and the apartment is a mess-paint splatters on the floor, lots of roaches, and dust everywhere. We thought this was normal until we heard that this wasn't the case from other apartment complexes. Then we started seeing all the little things that weren't made clear before we got here- out of all the treadmills in the gym only 2 actually work, utilities are insanely high despite taking drastic measures, the emails and text messages that apparently notify you when a package is here are usually 2-3 days late at a minimum, visitor parking is essentially nonexistent, it took 2 months to have water damage from the hurricane fixed, and the wifi. MY GOD THE WIFI. We put in a request literally the second day we moved in to have the wifi fixed and they simply requested that we reset the box. So we reset the box at least 20 times with no significant and lasting change and the wifi is somehow even worse than before. I have been promised by numerous faceless front desk employees that not only will the wifi be fixed but it has "high priority" and that it will be fixed not only tomorrow, but first thing tomorrow morning!! Here we are at 4:30 of the day they promised, like usual, that it would be fixed, and nothing. I go to the front office to complain, yet again, in person, and the girl at the front desk tells me that she emailed ComCast and that they should be there in 2-3 days!! I don't have 2-3 days, it's literally been months without the worst wifi I've ever experienced, and I am a broke college kid with limited data that I've gone over twice this month alone. So thanks a lot Retreat/Republic/whatever you go by now, your new management isn't helping the fact that absolutely nothing gets done. read more
