Alex is AMAZING! We LOVE our pictures plus his pricing is very reasonable compared to other photographers in the area. His style is just what we were looking for, the colors (OMG!)! He is also quick to respond to emails, calls and/or texts. His photo package included an engagement shoot as well, where we went to 5 different places in the city. He sent us a few pictures within a week for us to use and took about a month for the rest to come. The other great thing about Alex is that he doesn't have a time limit during weddings. Most vendors only stay for 8-10 hours but Alex is not one of them. He made sure he had all the pictures we wanted before leaving. He even arrived to our airbnb house an hour before the scheduled time to make sure he has time to look around and take detail shots. He brought 2 assistants with him (Anastasia and Duy Ho), who were both equally amazing. All three of them were great to work with and were all very professional. We received over 550 photos from our wedding day and every single one of them turned out beautiful. You can definitely tell how much time and effort Alex put into them, which we truly appreciate. Alex and Anastasia, thank you so much for the wonderful photos of our wedding! We had our wedding on May 26th, 2018 at Regale Winery and we've already received 500+ photos from the event (talk about a fast turn-around). Alex and Anastasia are truly artistic photographers. My wife was the one who found some of their work online. While we are not at all professional photographers, we could immediately recognize that they had something of a unique style when it came to photography. At least in my opinion, they particularly like to play a lot with lighting contrast and reflections, which make for some stunning and unique photos. Their photos are also very vibrant and they do a fantastic job of incorporating the environment into their photos. Of course, seeing is believing, so I've included a few shots from our wedding, but to get the full experience, you should just hire them and get them to shoot your next event. Aside from the photos, Alex and Anastasia were very easy to work with. We met or skyped with Alex a few times before the wedding to go over details and make sure everyone was on the same page in terms of event order etc. at the wedding. On the day of, they showed up to our hotel in Los Gatos (which, I believe is more than 1 hour travel for them!) at 8am, and they didn't leave until after our reception after 10pm. That is true dedication. As some people have noted in other reviews, I would also emphasize that Alex and Anastasia take very natural photos. One of the things they told us early in the day was to basically ignore the cameras and just go about our day and they would do what they do best and capture the moments. While we had a bunch of set shots (cause family and friends of course), all the best photos were of us going about our day and having a blast. I had heard of Alex from seeing pictures he took for a fellow coworker. As soon as I saw those pictures I was in love! Luckily I got engaged a few months later and I knew exactly who I wanted to take our pictures! My husband and I met Alex and we saw a few more pictures but I was sold from the beginning. Having TWO photographers all day was great. It allowed for plenty of time for different picture locations. We took pictures as I got ready, as my husband got ready, before the ceremony, formals after, and did a session at the Palace of Fine Arts as well as a final session at the Westin St. Francis in SF. Alex and Carsten took our pictures. They were very nice and even took pictures of details like our rings, shoes, dress, cord, earrings, invite, etc. that I was too busy to even think about asking them to take but that shows the experience they have! They were up for anything and had some great ideas too. If you want great pictures, you really have to give Alex the time to take them and it was worth it. I adore our pictures they are gorgeous and have received a lot of compliments from family and friends. I became a yelper just to rave about my experience with Alex and Brenda. My fiancé and I are from out of town and Alex and Brenda were very accommodating. They were going above and beyond to fulfill my requests. My fiancé and I were very nervous but by the end of the session we were much more comfortable. We were planning a dramatic red, black, and white "vintage glam" theme and knew we wanted a photographer who would make our colors pop and our rhinestones sparkle. I stumbled across Alex when I did a Google search for "engagement photos san francisco", there was this one picture of a couple on the pier in rain that just stuck in my head...when I clicked on it, it lead me to his website. His website had amazing photos!!! Just the style I was looking for, not the cheesy point and smile type pictures that so many photographers do, there is a true art form in what he does, he has a very journalistic approach. I immediately thought #1 he is going to be outside my budget and #2 he is going to be booked, my fiancé and I decided about a week ahead of time to head up to San Francisco to get these done. The morning of the shoot we left our house in Orange County at about 3 am so we could make it to San Francisco around noon and get ready for our pictures at 2:00. Working with RedSphere Studio (Alex + Anastasia) is one of the best decisions we've made for our wedding in Stanford Memorial Church + The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay. We first got to know RedSphere Studio by reference from Stanford Memorial Church as one of the several studios that had photographed there for weddings. I compared many photographers with him. Alex's unique style stand out. He uses color and light brilliantly, and he is great at catching emotional moments. Then we contacted Alex and started our business with them. When we worked with Alex and Anastasia, we found them very easy to work with and very responsible. They stayed more than 12 hours for our long and multi-location wedding and actively took photos from start to end. Our wedding day had an extremely tight schedule since we have three locations to take photos and commute between half moon bay and Stanford, and having Alex was a great relief. He managed our busy timeline with his professionalism and efficiency, and made it possible for us to go to multiple spots and took photos that we desired for. We got a group of sneak peek photos 2 weeks after the wedding. It is very considerate that they sent us those photos for posting on social media. 8 weeks after the wedding we got the final edits, including a highlight slideshow and 200+ fully edited photos. These photos are great and I got a lot of "wows" from friends and family. We are very glad those photos captured the happiness deep within the hearts of us and the guests. We did our engagement photoshoot with Alex and his assistant Carsten, and absolutely loved it. If you are looking for unique and striking pictures that would last a lifetime, then you should definitely go with Alex. He has his signature style and is absolutely brilliant with colors and composition. We have had SO many friends comment on how amazing our photos look. Locations - We have lived in the city for four years and Alex took us to places we never imagined could provide such incredible backdrops. They drove us around to 8 different locations on our engagement photo shoot! We had a few ideas, and they covered all of those, but they then went above and beyond to ensure we had some iconic images, which is what we said we wanted. Friendliness - Such a nice couple. My, my, my....where do I begin? I stumbled upon Alex's website when looking for engagement photographers in the Bay Area and I immediately loved his work. He stands out from any other photographer in that his photos are so vibrant, rich in color, and filled with emotion. We also loved the fact that Alex incorporates scenery into his photos but doesn't make it the main focus. I emailed Alex right away after seeing his work and asked for his availability. He emailed back within a few hours (he is amazing with email-he always responds very promptly which makes communication so easy!) and told us of some dates we could book and that he'd be happy to meet with me and my fiance before our engagement session in order to go over details, etc. When we booked our official date for our engagement photo session, we also arranged a time to meet Alex in person beforehand. Because of my and my fiance's busy schedules, it was easiest to meet Alex on a weeknight evening. I offered to meet Alex closer to SF where his studio is but he said he'd gladly make it Menlo Park which is close to where my fiance and I work. The night that we had that meeting scheduled, it was pouring rain but he still made it. He drove 2 hours in the pouring rain to meet with us. If that doesn't show you how dedicated Alex is to his work, I don't know what does! During that meeting, we arranged four different locations for our engagement shoot which was so awesome! Most photographers, I noticed, only offer one or two locations. Alex immediately emailed me a schedule for the shoot which he adhered to very, very well without making us feel rushed. Alex and his wife, Brenda, were such a pleasure to work with during the shoot. They made both of us feel at ease and it was clear that they were happy and were enjoying the shoot as well. They also knew exactly how to pose us and allow us to be natural, too. They made excellent use of structures and scenery and were clearly experienced with taking photos! Before we reached our last location, Alex told us that we were ahead of schedule so he brought us to two different locations in the time being which turned out to be some of our favorite photographs. He clearly goes above and beyond! My fiance and I received our engagement photos a few days ago and we are in love. I can't stop looking at them! I feel he captured our relationship and our personalities so well. We hired Alex for our wedding photography, and it was the greatest decision! We specifically chose to hire him because his portfolio showed a style of photography that we liked best out of all the photographers we looked at. He is an exceptional, one of a kind, truly talented photographer. Alex's work feel REAL, he captures the real emotions and moments. We've seen so many wedding photos that feel calculated, photos for the purpose of a photo, that took the real emotions and moments away. We do not consider ourselves photogenic, but the end product just feels so natural and genuine. In my opinion, to feel real is the most important thing when it comes to wedding photography. When I hired him to shoot some press photos for my upcoming album release, it was such a blast! Alex is just truly amazing! We booked him for an four hour engagement session at different locations around San Francisco. He is very professional, easy to communicate with and quick to respond to any inquiry you might have. Before the session he asked us what we wanted and then worked out a timetable for us. On the day of our session we picked him and his assistant up and then drove to the planned spots. Even though the day was quite foggy and windy, Alex took truly amazing pictures. In addition to the four planned locations Alex reacted to the weather conditions and squeezed in a few more locations to utilize the fog. One of those pictures is actually one of our favorites. He has a great feeling for good spots and used the fog to create an even magical atmosphere. And he truly knows his way around San Francisco so that we had no problem finding the quickest route to the next location. In addition to the superb quality of his work, his prices are very reasonable for the area. And in contrast to many other photographers we looked at, he does not put up a lot of conditions. We could have spend the time at one location or, as we did, move from spot to spot. And we even changed our outfits. We totally loved working with him and were very comfortable during the whole shooting. Any nervousness which might have been there before was blown away by his relaxed and professional manner in minutes. Alex directed us so perfectly that we forgot about the camera and just could get lost in the moment. We are not used to getting professionally photographed but you can see how relaxed we were. And the results? We are just CRAZY about every single one of the pictures! What else is there to say?!? My review has been way overdue, but better late than never : ) It was a blessing to discover RedSphere Studios! When I first reviewed their photos, it was exactly what my husband and I wanted our wedding photos to be like. After reviewing their avail packages, we were sold and set up a meeting w/ Alex, our photographer. Our meeting w/ Alex went well as Alex was a very easy-going person who truly listens to our needs and was pretty flexible in any ideas we had in mind. When it came time to our wedding (in the beginning of this year), Alex and Brenda, were our photographers for the day. They were on schedule and didn't waste any time. They snapped-snapped away and would check-in to see if there was anything in particular that we wanted to take photos of (besides what was listed on the contract). The great thing was that they didn't get in anyone's way and stayed until. the. end ! It took them awhile to edit and finalize the photos, but it's understandable as they are very busy. Stumbled upon alex at a bridal show and I was sold right away. My fiance and I made an appointment to meet with him in SF to discuss what our needs were and to get to know each other a bit more. He had emailed me to cancel because he had woke up very sick only 15 min before our appointment. What a waster of a drive from the south bay and half my saturday gone. I was kinda taken back, but completely understand about getting sick, I had followed up the week after to reschedule and haven't heard back from him. I wish there is a way to give Alex 25 stars.. he was so fab for an engagement shoot we had in SF... His attitude is let us have fun and let us create memories and I will do the work for you all - he is aware of his cameras, settings, flashes, day light, night light and every aspect of taking a great shot - over the engagement shoot - we had 3 outfit changes and over 400 pics - each shot was amazing and well taken - he knows how to capture the shot - We got married in Hawaii and had already connected and contracted with a local photographer but if we did not then he would be the guy - his pricing is competitive, he is flexible and just really patient. Looking at my engagement shoots - people are enamored and they love all our pics. His processing is also FAB... I know that every special event in my life going forward - Alex and his wife Brenda will be the photographers.. If I were a model, he would be the guy who would do my photos... he is great with photographing movement in fabric and details... His attitude of patience and love for this art is contagious and I wish every photographer would learn from him... his work is high end ... Once I am back from my travels I am going to learn from him and perfect my techniques... The best way we thought was to do an initial meeting with him and Brenda and it really helped us to feel comfy with them and my husband (at that time fiance) were just comfortable - my hubby is not much of a camera guy but Alex has done a FANTABULOUS job of capturing everything - All I can say is I want to be photographed for life by Alex... thank you for being there for us... There are no re-takes when it comes to your wedding photos. So, I couldn't be happier that I happened to find Alex at an otherwise pretty awful bridal showcase. From the beginning, he was flexible, accommodating, welcoming, kind and completely open/non-judgmental (it's amazing the comments people will make when they find out you're getting married in a matter of weeks and still have planning left!). Of course, all that turned out to be just icing on the proverbial GORGEOUS cake. Alex did such a fantastic job with the photos that I get compliments from literally every person who has seen them on not just how beautiful we look (though of course that's nice to hear - so THANK YOU especially for whatever magic you made, Alex!), but also on the incredibly high artistic quality for the photos. His use of color is stunning, and he did such a wonderful job showcasing San Francisco's City Hall as not just a backdrop, but a visual subject in itself. It really made our ceremony photos something we'll truly treasure forever.The party photos and portraits were incredible to boot - he really made an effort to capture shots of each person who attended, and those serve as such an incredibly rich record of such a wonderful day in our lives and those we love so dearly who shared in it. As for the logistics, Alex's pricing is beyond reasonable (so if you think you can't afford him, talk to him!) and he gives you all of the digital hi-res images to do what you want with. After speaking with a few services that actually charged you separately for these - which I think is absolutely ridiculous - the way Alex works, making it actually about you, was a breath of fresh air. He also went above and beyond to make sure he captured all the moments that were important to us. I practically had to force him to take a small plate of food for energy - I don't know how he kept up with us literally all day and well into the night! I cannot recommend Alex and his work highly enough.
