There was literal mushrooms growing out of my kitchen floor. The ceiling fell multiple times and they prolonged fixing it for the longest employees our rude and have no respect for their tenants. I have accidentally locked my keys in the house and the lady gave me the hardest time just to send someone out to come open the door for me. I do not recommend!

Theres way more to the situation but this video speaks mostly for itself. Tenant upstairs is supposed to be a Hospital ER employee in akron/barberton area that deals with all races and decide to treat a black and veteran household. not even going to go in to the story about how neighbor placed a planter with dirt on the roof of our unit in a way that it could fall off and it fell and hit my 69yo father in law who's a army veteran. No apology, no im sorry from anyone. Not even the owner of the house or the property management. Ive always talked to people about these types of things but never would've thought I would become a victim as well. If you are a person of color, I would strongly advise against renting the house in portage lakes or you will become their next victim

Chris, the leasing Agent is a great person, but two others that work there have a far different attitude. While I am the first person to admire a place that takes pride in their facilities, upkeep and a desire to keep a quiet and harmonious neighborhood, their tactic is to be kind until you sign the lease and pay, then unleash the 'orientation', consisting of emphasized rules, threats, penaties and other items, all delivered to you as if you were a bad third grader. The main problem in my eyes is that the ownership views tenants like peons that they allow to live in their kingdom. If you don't think paying someone over $1000/per month gives them the right to treat you like dirt, then I would suggest looking elsewhere.

The location is perfect,…read moreclean, gorgeous, safe, quiet, and family friendly community, management is attentive, friendly and caring (Chris Smith!), neighbors are amazingly nice, right off the freeway, across the street from a movie theatre, a million restaurants and fast food places, a nice mall (Summit Mall), a Cleveland Clinic urgent care/ER/Wellness center gym, maintenance crew is responsive in 24 hours. The price isn't terrible for what you are getting: in suite washer dryer, attached garage that opens into your kitchen, prompt snow removal from driveway and roads, and nice interior renovations (granite like countertops, laminate/hardwood like floors, plush carpet, neutral paint on walls)... I really couldn't have asked for more, coming from San Francisco California where rent is ridiculous and traffic is insane, this place is really a dream!

First off, I admit I am a disgruntled former tenant. Take that into consideration, however, I feel…read moreit is necessary to warn others of my experience. One fact that cannot be disputed is that this property is managed by AIY Properties and this is the link to their profile from the Better Business Bureau ( http://www.bbb.org/cleveland/Business-Reviews/property-management/aiy-properties-llc-in-lakewood-oh-16004046/). The BBB gives them a rating of "F" which is their lowest rating possible so there is something to the fact that this place is extremely mismanaged! Just recently moved out after living here three years. I was extremely dissatisfied with this property and am taking the time to warn others to look elsewhere. The problems I had with this property never ended. The only thing that kept me at the property for so long was the convenient location to my job. Be prepared for extremely high electric bills. It is amazing how much money I wasted on electric bills in this unit. Even went to the extreme of shutting off the power at the breaker box to prevent wasted electricity. The average electric bill was over $100 per month. Also, just wait until you get your first water bill. The charges kept piling up. The neighbors in this building are extremely shady. Several times the police had to visit some of my neighbors. They also constantly leave bagged trash in the hallways. Because the hallways are open air, animals could regularly get into the trash that is left out overnight. The management and maintenance at this property is invisible. The grounds are not maintained well. There is a small lake at the front of the property filled with trash. Responses to maintenance requests regularly went ignored. The final surprise from this place were the move out charges. $30 to clean a microwave, $60 to clean a refrigerator, and $400 to replace the carpet. Again, lived there for three years and there was nothing more than regular wear and tear. When I called to dispute the charges the person I spoke to from the corporate office said "they would gladly sue me in civil court to collect the charges they assessed." She even went as far to say that there were cigarette burns everywhere and I am a non-smoker. Bottom line, save your money. This place is a money pit. The high rents do not reflect the level of service you are going to receive or the luxury living they proclaim to offer.
