Excellent school. Teachers are very helpful. I just wish they had more parking toward avenue 12

What a beautiful campus…read more Came here for a conference and it was so refreshing to be on a campus that wasn't over 50 years old. The campus opened around 2005 and still looks brand new. Their fields, buildings, and lakes are all pretty. I went to the bookstore and got a pendant for my collection. I hope they keep up the beauty and appearance of the campus as years go on.

As an educator for 27 years, I cannot stress this enough...DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO THIS SCHOOL…read more There is absolutely nothing to do at this school. The town is too far away to be of any use (not that it's a great college town anyway, but at least it has a sandwich shop). There are no clubs, no activities, no reason to be there. I may get some flack about some small random club, but you can compare their website to any other university and judge for yourself. Students returning state they hate it. It's just a money grab. My son slipped into major depression there, sought help and was told by a counselor "you will never beat your depression". How incredibly F-up is that?!? I took it with a grain of salt, that it was his interpretation of the situation, but ultimately made the call to drive down at midnight and pull his ass out of there. Glad I did, got him the help that he really needed. Just talked to a former student that went there this semester, same story, so I'm writing this review. So parents, be very aware, you are going to have to check on your child's well being often. I would not trust anything about this campus, and it's their own doing. Please listen to them and don't be afraid to pull them out.

Considering National University for a Psy D? DO NOT DO IT. Formerly, the PsyD program was at JFK…read moreUniversity, acquired by National University, and then ran independently. Assured that JFK University would remain open and independent, they eventually closed JKF University, surrendered the APA accreditation, and began a "new" program under the National Unversity banner, naming the program The JFK School of Psychology at National University. After 3/4 of the faculty resigned and multiple staff promised to stay with the program, they too resigned. Several new, mostly adjunct faculty filled in some of the gaps yet the program remains understaffed, underfunded, and now, UNACCREDITED. The program is currently seeking accreditation and if granted by the APA, you will know the accreditation process is a sham. I won't even touch basis on the hypocritical curriculum, communication problems, lack of transparency, or the basic lack of a catalog describing the coursework required and the class content for the doctoral degree. You will be on your own. The JFK University financial aid department continues its ineptitude and arguably criminal conduct under the National University banner. Don't expect any information on your loans. Expect late loan disbursements while you accrue interest on money you haven't been given, 2+ weeks to respond to your email inquires, and expect NO CONTACT via phone with the financial aid department. LOOK ELSEWHERE FOR A PSYD program and AVOID THIS ONE AT ALL COSTS. You have been warned.

I'm a part of NU's BSN program. We are almost done, but wanted to write an overall experience…read morereview of the program for future students. 1. Scheduling. Have a job? Good luck not getting fired. They send out class schedules sometime the DAY before, so scheduling shifts (if they are anything like mine) is impossible. You WILL be calling out and if your job is strict on attendance. 2. Price. It's a private school so I never expected a cheap program. However, itemized billing is a little... shady. "Technology fees" "Nursing fees" etc... all random, un-detailed, charges for each class. If I had more insight as to what I was paying for, I wouldn't be concerned. They raised the price of tuition for 2023, at least I think that is was happened- we NEVER got a notice that this would happen, they just started charging more in monthly tuition in the new year. 3. Professors. In the BSN program, they are very hit & miss. Sometimes, you'll get one that truly wants you to succeed. Other times... they are there for the paycheck. 4. Class times/days. Look, as I mentioned, I get it's a private school. But... 6 hour classes on Sundays? In the morning? Really? What about those who attend church? School is more important? I guess it depends on who you ask. They go off of the professor's schedule, which is fine. But really? Sat/Sun classes are common & mess up a lot of your family & rest time. 5. Guidance counseling. Never heard of her. You are assigned one, but 9 times out of 10 they are from the san diego unit and will have no clue what you're talking about (concerning Fresno's program). 6. Support. Need to reach somebody? Maybe about your bill? Unless you are signing up for classes, expect a week's wait. 7. Hierarchy. There really isn't one. Lots of professors are leaving for many of the reasons above. They are short-staffed and are assigned to a class within a few days of it starting. I feel just as bad for them as I do for students. 8. Opportunities. As an NU student, you will NOT be able to get a job in the hospital as a nurse extern. You will need to enter as a PCT/CNA. I've done this for 3 years, so it's fine. However, externships are crazy beneficial to the schools around us and their students. it is a paid, hands-on, clinical day. You get way more experience doing this, but NU does not contract with any local hospitals (as of now). There are few volunteer opportunities and they only sign you up for the minimum clinical hours required by the BRN. Overall, there are many flaws to this program. I have learned a lot and have had great experiences. If you have the grades and TEAS score and get in, I wouldn't say it's bad enough you shouldn't accept the admission, but just be prepared for a lot of difficulties throughout your time with NU. Good luck future nurses :)!
