I felt like I was being taught by good friends more than they were "instructors". I've been scuba diving before this class but they still taught me extremely useful skills in the pool and open water. They did a great job keeping me and my buddy comfortable at all times and I never felt like I was in any danger at any point of the class (even though you must take your mask off at 25 feet in the cold water!!). I would definitely recommend the open water course with Ed & Danetta to any of my friends. With an upcoming trip to Baja Sur, I decided this was the time and was initially looking at outfits in Mexico when I just so happened to check local prices here in the PNW. I was surprised to find that Underwater Sports offered the most affordable PADI certification I had seen, half the cost of some dive companies in Baja. When I went to check out the shop, I was immediately impressed with the staff, who were all friendly, knowledgeable, & passionate about diving. It felt right, so I booked the Open Water Diver course. This proved to be a very good decision as our instructor, Jaiden, and her assisting Dive Masters (Frank & Jason) were all equally skilled, friendly, and engaging. I thoroughly enjoyed the course. It was professional but never stiff. I was confident that Jaiden and our Dive Masters always knew what they were doing and had our safety as their top priority, but they also were very relatable and easy to talk to. The experience was an entirely positive one, from beginning to end, and while I was already certain that I would love diving, I am now equally certain that I have found a community that I will continue to share that love with. I highly recommend Underwater Sports in Federal Way for anyone interested in crossing over to the other side of the water's surface. You can see Vashon Island and it's ferry, Mount Rainier on some days and even some aquatic life in Puget Sound like jellyfish and seals. Some time passed where we finally went into the boathouse and even though we don't own a boat (and don't intend to) or are into fishing we still found lots of merchandise that we found and Steve even bought a t-shirt so there is a wide variety of merchandise to check out. There is a restaurant tucked down here we should check out sometime, an Anthony's restaurant that we will perhaps go to sometime also.

They have a variety of fishing equipment, snacks, sandwiches, and really cute clothing/décor. The marina itself has several activities to do. They offer boat and kayak rentals - the boats come from the Boathouse store and the kayaks come from wayyy down on Owen beach. For those that like to fish there is an area off the pier that allows you to do so and there's a fish cleaning station nearby. If you have a boat there are drive up and hand launch areas to get you in the water and moorage is available with gas and pumpout on site. From a walking stand point: great place to see sea life, close to the ferry, and an all around lovely place to get some fresh air!

I had my son in lessons there for 3 months, he had 3 different teachers and each time I was impressed. I appreciate the one-on-one time he got to with each instructor. Each lesson he worked on multiple techniques. After each set of lessons, we were given a detailed report card with info on what he needed to improve upon. Also! At the end of each set of lessons the kids get to jump off the diving board, which is super neat and definitely something they look forward to!

As a former Coastie on the wrong side of divers in distress I was leery of certifying without doing my research and looked at 5 shops in the area. I landed on T L Sea Diving after checking off all safety marks and after talking with David who was willing to meet me after the shop closed due to my work schedule. I instantly felt at ease with the entire team (David, Nicole, Joe, Ian, Larry, Phil and Jill) and was so appreciative of their process, high level of skill, and how they individually accommodated all four of us and our learning/personality styles in the group. I felt exceptionally well-cared for and safe throughout certification and look forward to the Advanced Open Water course coming up and the very cool international and club dives they have planned.

My 1st club dive though did not go well for me, due to my inexperience and I think partly due to shortcomings in my OW instruction. The DM, Dave, though was excellent. He was very patient, supportive and helpful to me. Soon after, I took the AOW class with Dave. I found him to be a great instructor who is willing to take the time I needed to really learn the skills being taught - and does it with a good sense of humor.

The class progressed smoothly from one topic to the next, making it easy to absorb a large amount of information without feeling overwhelmed. I'll definitely be returning for the 102, 103 and 104 courses. In fact, I was so impressed that I'll be signing up for a membership to get some additional practice on the water. I got a…read morebirthday gift for my SO to go on a 2 people 1,000 ft high parasail trip in the Puget Sound (we did it in Tacoma, but they also have another branch in Kirkland as well) and we couldn't be happier with this gift choice! We were super lucky as the day we went it was super sunny, allowing us to see a super clear view of Mt. Rainier from up and above! :)))) Out from the get go, Pacific Parasail was super responsive to our inquiry and booking. They were very accommodating to our requested day/time (because we called to book before the summer, they even offered the option of coming in early on before the season was supposed to open, since they happened to open early this year, too). When the weather turned bad (e.g. not their fault!), they called well ahead of time that the weather wouldn't be conducive to the activity and offered to reschedule. On the day of the activity, we also received confirmation text on details about time/place to meet and what to wear, too. The staff (both on the boat and at check in) were super polite and nice (despite the fact that we used Groupon deal as well). The trip itself takes about an hour. You get on a jet boat with 6-8 people and go out in the water for about an hour...then take turn to go on parasail for 10-15 min long...super awesome! As a bonus, our The gentlemen on our boat provided clear instruction on what we needed to know/do. We felt super safe (mind you, I have quite some fear of height)..and really enjoyed our unique activity --parasailing for the first time! If you had a chance, definitely check this activity out. Great for a date (with someone you know quite a bit), activities with your family (kids are fine, too!) or just something adventurous/scenic to enjoy the nature/view of PNW! Also, book ahead of time! They seem to get busy, especially in the summer when the weather is nice out there!
