There are always two lifeguards monitoring each class in the pool, which gives us great peace of mind when it comes to safety. I also really appreciate that many classes have two instructors, allowing for extra attention and helping the kids hone their skills. One of the best things about their pool is that it isn't overly chlorinated. They use a saltwater system. Some pools feel like they have so many chemicals, that you wouldn't want your kids to swim in them. The water is the perfect temperature. The teachers are very knowledgeable and experienced. They have a splash pad/very shallow area for the littles, 2 different sections of deeper water, the DEEP area where they alternate diving and free swim and a whirlpool. The pool is heated which can be a little weird on hot days but was mostly fine. My parents would have loved it since they get cold easily. Our little one was allowed to go in either in her floaties or in our arms. The locker rooms were clean and large and I appreciated the family rooms that are available. I only wish we lived in Fircrest so we could get a discount to use it but we love it all the same!

None of that re-enrolling after 10 weeks (or however long other swim programs are) and writing down 3 time slot choices (hoping to get your #1 choice). - group session is maximum of 3 swimmers! - consistent teachers. My daughter had teacher John for almost 2 years before seeing a different teacher. - program director is very receptive of comments. Example: one new teacher talked a lot in the beginning to the point the kids were no longer listening. Explained the situation to the program director and the following week, there was improvement. Short instructions, kids listened well, and ample swim time. My daughter would've stayed with Orca if it weren't for the fact that she wanted to join a swim team and needed that next-level program to improve her endurance and skill set. Between school, sports and swim classes this deployment flew by. Soldiers Field made it that much easier for me as well. I enrolled both kids here for swim classes, they fill up fast and you have to know when open enrollment is, especially for the older swim classes but once you're in they roll you over into the next class until open enrollment starts again. The staff here are overall so nice and the instructors here have so much patience with the kids and really give them the tools they need to be able to not only become comfortable with the water but actually learn how to swim. My little one went from being semi scared of the water to now jumping in and being excited about showing me how he can put his head under water and make bubbles. My older one had one other swim lesson in his life and then did 3 here and he now can stay above water and has the basics for swimming down.
