While I grew up fishing for bass, I'm still relatively new to fly fishing and my wife is pretty new to the sport. I've gone out with guides in Washington and North Carolina but would rank this as the best experience of the bunch. When I reached out to book, he called me back within minutes to discuss preferred techniques, locations and types of fish to target, and it was clear he truly listened to what I was hoping to accomplish with the trip and tailored a list of different sites in the Finger Lakes to meet these goals. As our scheduled date approached, the weather forecast looked grim, so he reached out and we arranged an alternative day to go out at the last minute. We very much appreciated his flexibility. On the water, he was extremely patient with instruction and advice and has natural, positive teaching style and never seemed frustrated when there were tangles, snags or errant casts. I was able to refine techniques and presentations I have used before as well as learn a couple of new approaches, and my wife greatly improved her casting skills and understanding of how to read a trout stream. I've been out with guides who set you up with one technique and run this over and over all day long regardless of whether or not it's successful, but Jeremy was constantly reevaluating what was working and what wasn't, and making thoughtful adjustments as we moved from site to site. He went above and beyond to make sure we both caught fish and had a great time doing it. Afterwards, he followed up with pictures of the day as well as some much appreciated local recommendations for places to hike and eat/drink during the rest of our trip. If we are ever in this area again I'd definitely book another trip through this service.

Big ol' Greg immediately busted out the hard stuff, and right when I was wanting some ice cream they made it right in front of me! I could go on for a long time, but I'll just list the Pros and the (very few!) cons below. Pros: Best All-Inclusive dining I've had. The ice cream and liquor never stopped! They make other foods too, and if they can't make it they'll go get it. Lots of blankies. You'll never get cold. If you do get cold, don't call you friend Matt and ask for the concierge while he's sleeping. He'll hang up! Very welcoming. Many people aren't used to very lifelike stuffed doggies and contact an insane asylum. Not here though! Beautiful scenery. After a great day of going to see the city of Corning or the lake near Watkins Glen (both are close! You just have to steal a car or truck. My credit score isn't very good. Oh no) there's nothing better than sitting down on the porch or comfy sectional sofa in the great lodge room to watch the sun set. Cons: Hard to find. Like very hard to find. Twas the first time all of us were home together since before Covid. My dad passed a few years ago and we all couldn't be home for it bc it was during Covid. So this was actually the first time all 5 of us kids were home at the same time. It's a trip that had to happen for sure. So getting the boat for an afternoon was super nice and a special day for sure. We got a pontoon boat for the afternoon. My brother and his wife rented it for 6 hours. I can't remember the exact price, I wanna say $450 for the6 hours, but don't quote me on that bc I THINK it may have been a tad more expensive. It's definitely a little pricey, but compared to their competitors, German Brothers definitely had the better price. The so-called "inconvenience" of renting from the vs the other(s) is German Bros is located out on West Lake Rd as the other is located in town...which is why I think they can get away with charging more at that place. The guys at German Bros were fantastic. Super friendly, super helpful...honestly don't have one bad thing to say about them or the business. For my first time experiencing one of these boat rental companies back home, I was definitely satisfied and even from my social media posts from that day and the days after our day on the lake, I referred like 5 people to this place and told them how much better it would be to go with them especially if they were worried about cost. You definitely save using German Brothers and these days, who isn't trying to save money any way they can? One thing to point out, you do have to pay for the gas for the boat and that cost is not included in the rental cost. You pay for the gas at the end of your time on the boat and I wanna say it's like a dollar and change more than what we'd pay at the pump ourselves. Then again, wait, haha, not sure what kind of gas these boats use haha! Just know tho, you pay separate for the gas. I recommended this to 5 different people (as mentioned already) and I'd gladly recommend to 5 more, 10 more, etc. They're a fantastic company and they deserve all the business they can get. We did a private lessons and had a blast. Kyle was really helpful in helping us get up on slalom skis, which felt different than behind a boat.
