The owners were very kind and instructed me on technique and proper form when rowing a kayak. My partner and I came on a calm morning with perfect weather conditions to kayak (no wind, flat water.) We got the faster kayaks and were able to kayak 2 miles going to see Hector Falls and 2 miles coming back. I truly cannot feel like I understand and know a body of water now without kayaking it first. The price for 2 hours was $52, but given it is the famous, Seneca Lake in the Finger Lakes region, I feel it's warranted and definitely worth it. During our stay in the Finger Lakes, for both of us, this was one of our absolute favorite things to do on the trip. When we come back, we will definitely visit this business again. Fortunately because you're hiking in a gorge and in dense woods the air quality didn't bother us. And we were rewarded with a gorgeous hike! The hike was gorgeous, but definitely has lots of steps, so be warned. If you don't feel like hiking, there is a shallow (7ft deep) swimming hole with a lifeguard on duty, clean bathrooms and lots of space for picnics I would come back here again and recommend the park to others.

Described as "34 scenic acres of historic Cayuga Lake shoreline", Salt Point is a well maintained park for anything from bird watching (over 230 different bird species have been recorded here since 2012), enjoying native plants, fishing, having a picnic, or taking a leisurely walk along intersecting trails... or along the water. Plenty of folks enjoy the space to walk their dogs, of course. Mind you, there are signs requesting dogs be kept on leash, and, as always, to please clean up after your dog. There's also a good amount of parking and helpful signage. There's plenty of history to this area (which you can find in the History section of the park website), but they've done a nice job with this land in the last 12+ years. As they say, "Salt Point is intended to be a more natural area for quieter pursuits than the more activity-friendly Myers Park", and they've succeeded in that. It's especially nice to have this quieter space available during this era of coronavirus, because you can enjoy plenty of distancing between yourself and others.

Smaller preserve with a white (easier but longer) and blue trails (lots of stairs and steep angles…read morethat can be ankle breaking), but shorter paths. The entrance is a small almost unmarked entry with a small sign and parking only along the road. The path itself is somewhat traversed and narrow at spots, the blue path is about 35 min down but 45 to 60min back up. If you don't do stairs, skip this because it will hurt. Lots of bugs towards the bottom the the rest of the path is pretty covered and calm. Wet season the waterfall is nice. The midsummer is dry and the waterfall barely is a trickle over the rocks.

I had a great time learning the strokes and good form. Then we went partly up Salmon Creek and saw lots of wildlife. I highly recommend Paddle-N-More for lessons or just rentals of kayaks (sit-in and sit-on) and stand-up paddleboards. They provide a high-quality life vest (PFD) as part of every rental, too.

While i'm not necessarily an experienced hiker and was…read moreable to do it without too much difficulty, it is important to note that it is very steep, so whether you start at the top or the bottom, at least one way is going to be very taxing. We parked at the lot that our phone took us too, if it is raining or winter you may want to make sure you have 4 wheel drive as it is a steep gravel road some of which was not big enough for 2 cars. If you are a geocacher like me though this is a must visit, the oldest cache in nys and the 6th oldest active in the world. For the first bit the trail was easy to follow but once we got to the cache it was almost impossible to see where it went and seemed too steep for us to be comfortable carrying on but it was worth it for the view and the cache.
