The owners were very kind and instructed me on technique and proper form when rowing a kayak. My partner and I came on a calm morning with perfect weather conditions to kayak (no wind, flat water.) We got the faster kayaks and were able to kayak 2 miles going to see Hector Falls and 2 miles coming back. I truly cannot feel like I understand and know a body of water now without kayaking it first. The price for 2 hours was $52, but given it is the famous, Seneca Lake in the Finger Lakes region, I feel it's warranted and definitely worth it. During our stay in the Finger Lakes, for both of us, this was one of our absolute favorite things to do on the trip. When we come back, we will definitely visit this business again. When we got to the boat launch I was happy to see that they had the same boat that I had, in a newer model. Basically, this means that they don't rent you the very cheapest base model kayak, you'll be in a boat you may actually really enjoy and be comfortable in. When we called to reserve John, the owner, offered the option of a sit-on-top (open boat) which I declined. If you like those, they had very nice ones as well. This can be a good option for first timers because they are a little wider and less likely to tip. They also have Stand-up paddle boards and tandem kayaks for rent for the brave. The price was super reasonable for two hours, and there is a Group-on for a 4 hour rental at the two hour price. Next time I may bring a picnic and do the 4 hour option. Canadice Lake is an unbeatable kayak location, it's the water supply for Rochester, so there are no houses on the lake side and basically no motor boats. When you hit the water you'll find yourself able to enjoy quite reflection. This is truly a kayakers paradise and if you don't have kayaks this is the best place to rent. John was awesome, and super accommodating. He told us about upcoming events and was super easy going. I will absolutely be back here to rent again. Pro-tip- if you want to set up a super impressive date, you can take someone for a kayak rental, pack a picnic and have a nice quiet day.

I had come to Auburn to visit family. It had been raining all week. I was so ready to get some time…read moreoutside. I had been talking to one of the owners, Audrey, and managed to arrange to go over after the rain stopped yesterday. It turned out to be a stunning afternoon. The water was completely clear and almost flat. I took out a kayak first. Then went back and joined a small group for a stand-up paddle board lesson. The owners are very personable and knowledgeable. They give you life jackets, and a whistle, just in case. They also had a bunch of dog life jackets. It's $18 for an hour on the paddle board and $12 for an hour on the kayak. They have the $2 park parking passes there. Weather permitting they are normally open from 11am-6pm during the summer. If you have a group, you can also call ahead and arrange a time that works for you. They can also deliver the water toys. If you wanted to rent boards for a party or for a weekend that could probably be done as well. I'm kinda bummed my birthday is in March! As it is, I'll definitely be back.

THEN You should have told us on the phone that you'll refuse to rent us kayak paddles separately from your kayaks because all of your kayaks (and the paddles associated with them) have all been otherwise reserved and you have no spare paddles for us to rent. Your apathetic and unapologetic staff at least had the courtesy of suggesting Eastern Mountain Sports might have paddles for us to rent, instead. They have wet suits, life jacket, lots of equipment to purchase. When I walked up I was greeted with friendly hellos and bubbly employees. I rented a paddle board for $23 showed my license and filled out the waiver. They gave me my paddle, adjusting it to my height, and instructed me to walk down the sidewalk (literally a stone throw from the building), where there is a small beach and there was the rest of the crew waiting for me. They helped me in the water and explained the territory If where to go and where not to go and off I want. Great time, beautiful lake, just wonderful team of employees.
