Sam's company is an elite one. Very prompt service using top level materials and workmanship. The crew were friendly, courteous and competent. After receiving quotes from several contractors we decided to go with R&D. The quote for a master bath redo was much higher than the others. We were misled by Sam who said he understood exactly what we wanted. It wasn't until the shopping phase we realized that almost everything we wanted and asked specifically to be included in the quote would cost more, more, more. We also were shocked by the limited choices presented. Be forewarned! While every single sub contractor was fastidious and wonderful, in the end we have to live with a very average bathroom with average fittings. Every day we are reminded that we should have gone with another company that would have provided the same bathroom for around $8,000 less. read more

I contacted Sam at Refine & Design at the beginning of 2019 and he came over to see what needed to be done. Although it was a small condo kitchen project, we wanted some very customized features. No problem. Sam brought in the kitchen cabinet folks he works with and they were able to construct cabinets to my specifications. Once started, Daniel took over to make sure that the reno was done the way we wanted it. They were great to work with, as well as all the trades they hired. After my previous contractor wrecked my new home, I was upset, disappointed and distrustful. My brand-new marble tile floor had to come up together with in-floor heating due to electrical issues and unleveled tiles; $12,000 down the drain. Damaged baseboards were put back on without notifying me. Caulking that supposed to use silicon to prevent leaking were all cracked because the previous contractor used grout instead of silicon. Kitchen countertop wasn't leveled either. Sinks were leaking because the faucets just sat on top of sinks without silicon sealed up. Air vents in the baths were so loud I could hear the roaring after the doors were closed though I was told they were brand-new too. Kitchen Cabinets weren't finished and doors weren't aligned...and the list goes on. This was the same contractor I used on my other property for smaller projects and he did well, so I was shocked to see what he had done to my new home. I got Sam's contact from a friend of mine. Sam understood how frustrated I was and how upsetting the situation to me. He reassured me that he and his Refine & Design crew will work till I'm 100% satisfied, and Sam kept his word. Every one of his crew came in to work did fabulous jobs. On-site manager Alex, who's also a carpenter made the most beautiful baseboards and the detail works are so nice I wish I could post "before & after" pictures for everyone here to see. Special thanks to Alex, he did more than I asked for, even some areas I didn't even mention, just because he couldn't tolerate he imperfection, which I am sure every home owner would appreciate. The electrician was also very professional, he fixed all the wrong wiring last contractor did and checked all my electrical wiring to make sure I'll be safe in my house. Most of all, Sam makes everything seemed easy and organized, I didn't have to do a thing or worry a thing, he took care of everything. Now I absolutely love my new home, can't wait to come home and relax after works, looking at my beautiful home..... I am very confident and happy to give reference of Sam and Refine& Design to everyone I know. Now I give my best recommendation to anyone who reads this review. Thanks a million, Sam!!! I wasn't sure who to call to redo our basement as we were wanting to add a bathroom and have the basement as a one bedroom suite instead of open space. Found Sam and the team and thought I'd at least call for a quote. Sam was quick to respond, super professional and gave me all the details right from the bat. We renovated our master bed room standing shower. The workman who did the renovation was absolutely amazing. He did fantastic job. The problem was the hand shower start to leak and happened twice not the problem of the installer, but I believe manufacturing defect. The Bath fitter person who is dealing with it is not super friendly. First time fix was fairly shorted. Second time they sent a cheap pipe and the installer determined that it is not the right one and has to get different one. The lady said that it will take three weeks to get the tube (surprised the same tube is available in multiple local shops) and then they will call and schedule a visit. Super disappointed with the support. I don't know what the motto of life time support mean. I would have expected them to do a better customer support. Imagine even though the problem occurred within first year and the support we got. What kind of support would any one will get if the problem happens after few year. I have used Bath Fitter in Ontario, but the support problem I see is only In Vancouver. Hope who ever the manager addresses the support problem. read more
