G-STAR (and a few other Dutch companies) have this bizarre idea that they should...... wait for it...... leave the front door open even on the coldest of days. On December 17, 2022, its was about 1º Celsius Let's break this down for a minute, shall we? + customers are miserable (yes, we sat & observed their demeanours) + customers are uncomfortable (trying to navigate the store bundled up in winter clothes) + most customers barely stayed around (and many shivered INSIDE the store & darted out quickly after) + the staff have to wear normal work clothes (NO jackets, coats, scarves -- nothing). i am absolutely certain that against some European directive to make your staff work while they LITERALLY are "frozen to the bone" and even if it's not, the company's treatment of its staff is downright inhumane. Yes, I know Europe is in an energy criss. Yes, I know that companies need to "conserve fuel". And, yes, someone needs to explain to me -- like I am a three year old please-- WHAT ON EARTH is the point of this bizarre policy. While I remember..... The young male and female "black" sale associates (so sorry I didn't get your names!) could not have been nicer -- in spite of VISIBLY SHIVERING while going about their chores. Your product knowledge is simply staggering. Thumbs up across the board! And, the chunky older white male sales associate with the fake "too cool for school" vibe is a snooty, rude, miserable, unhelpful, lazy prick (and that is not language that I'd normally use). The staff was extremely helpful, knowledgable, and friendly without being over the top. We were offered water and/or beer (Heineken) which is always a +! I personally like fashion that isn't cookie cutter and lends itself to a more diversified and unique world, and I think that G-Star hits the mark. I have been looking for nice, yet comfortable clothes for a little while, and this pair was my rescue! Black, smart looking trousers in 100% viscose, and the loos fit and high waste makes it a perfect everyday work and pleasure wear! I was sent upstairs to the men's store, which had a significantly longer wait. I was helped by Sabrina, who was beyond excellent. I had an interest in three items, but one was unavailable. I purchased a wallet and cologne. I got my wallet engraved which took about 35 minutes, but while it was being done, I was able to complete my VAT paperwork on the Fourth Floor. When I returned, my wallet was still being worked on, and decided to look over some small bags. I was able to get my items and the. Returned to the first floor to purchase the bag. My experience on both floors was excellent. It was so refreshing because on my prior trip to Europe I went to Louis Vuitton in London, and I was basically ignored and treated like I was bothering them-- I decided to leave due to this poor treatment. Kudos to Sabrina, and LV Amsterdam for making this such a pleasurable experience and saving me money versus purchasing in the States.

So literally the first thing I did once I dropped my bags off at my hotel was come straight here! Ever since the pandemic started, you can't just randomly browse the store anymore and need to have a client advisor assigned to you. So I had to wait for a bit in line before being able to get in. Additionally, the bag I had been tracking for basically a year wasn't in stock anymore by the time I showed up here, which was kind of a bummer. Guy at the front also told me they couldn't order the bag because I wasn't an EU resident. Anyways, my assigned client advisor, Lucas, told me that they had just acquired a rare Keepall 50B that had been designed by Virgil Abloh the day before. It was a little more expensive than I had been planning for, but hell with the Euro being so cheap, the VAT refund, and the rarity of this bag, I thought for about five minutes before deciding to buy it. Savings between the Euro conversion and VAT refund ended up being $1600, so I would've been dumb NOT to buy it. Overall, I appreciated how smooth my experience was here as it was quick with minimal fuss. The VAT refund floor was also super fast, although they did tell me I still had to go get a stamp at Global Blue at Schiphol. Either way, I would definitely come back here for my LV needs.
