I had my first microneedling procedure done yesterday with Tobie in the Hilo location. . I felt completely relaxed and comfortable in the care of Tobie. She is professional, knowledgeable, and caring. She even DM me today to see how I am doing. I have also had the opportunity to meet with Patsy for a consult and Brooks for minor procedures. Treatments effectiveness verses expense paid for skin laser and now an additional $200 for pico. I like the ladies here, yet fear I have been told there is help for my skin condition. So far after two $500 an hour treatments; there is no positive results. I will update everyone after my third treatment scheduled in three weeks. Incompetent! I was misdiagnosed, which led to a biopsy, which was very costly to me as they don't take Medicare, and it turned out to be a pimple! A zit! I see this company as a cosmetic business, and I need serious skin attention, having had several skin cancers. Never once did I see an actual MD dermatologist, even though I've had melanoma, basal and squamous cell cancers, which were diagnosed accurately with my previous dermatologists in other states and countries. In addition to that, they push a chemotherapy product which is not FDA approved, and causes lesions that take months to heal. When I called with a concern about the 'not FDA approved', the person I talked to asked me why I thought it was not. See picture below. This business has not earned my trust, nor met my need for professionalism. I would never refer anyone to the Scheel cosmetic clinics unless one is looking for minimal skin care. read more

The Waimea staff is very professional and friendly. Many services are offered including skin mapping of pre-cancers so any changes are noted and treated. I've also had several chemical peels, laser treatments and aqua dermabrasion which has eliminated blotchy patches and other sun damage from my many sun burns of 50/60 years ago! The office has a good supply of at home skin creams and lotions for various uses. Most important - buy good sunscreen and use it. read more

In terms of acne treatment this office is great. Ive had lots of succes with their treatment plans. I went in for post partum eczema on my hands; they failed to do a proper history intake, only glanced at my eczema, proceeded to prescribe me topical steroids (a protocol I already used and it failed) and then referred me to a therapist for post partum depression, which i felt was beyond their scope given the poor history they took. Turns out i have eczema brought on by candida. Had they examined me properly, further excerbation couldve been avoided read more

I found everyone to be very professional. Melanoma screening was very thorough, with mapping and pictures of suspect lesions. PA brooks did "the best biopsy I've ever had!" literally painless. I only wish they would process insurance claims. read more

I've been a client of Dr. Scheel for a little over 3 years, what an amazing team! Lauren and Nikki at the front desk are friendly, efficient and accommodating! They return calls and emails promptly which is valuable to me! Sometimes the value in a front desk team can be over looked, in my opinion it's the first impression of a business! I see Dana for my dermaplane monthly and she is excellent! I saw Stephanie last month and was unsure of exactly what treatment I wanted. She spent time chatting with me really listening to my concerns, I ended up going with the "three for me" and I was thrilled with the results. Stephanie even had me back to the office 4 weeks later to check the results and provide a small "touch up" to one area! I gladly pay out of pocket with no insurance reimbursement because of the excellent and affordable care. Yearly full skin checks that include mapping of all moles and any other freckles or spots, and a follow up cosmetic clean up a few months later are my usual appointments. I recently went to Monica Scheel's office in Waimea. I had such a great experience, the office is comfortable, virtually no wait time before my appointment. I saw a Physician's Assistant for a small surgery and it was excellent. It's healing up very nicely and the staff is so kind. I will definitely be going back, as well as recommending this office to anyone who needs to see a dermatologist. They do not accept any insurance, but it wasn't so much that I couldn't afford the procedure. read more
