This review is for Dr. Penner's personal nutritional consultation & services (I haven't had…read moreexperience with the Wellness Center). I found Dr. Penner though an old girlfriend, who moved to Chico form LA. Since I was having some digestive issues and did not want to take standard medication, my friend suggested to me that I do a long distance consultation with the Doctor (either via Skype, or on the phone). The office manager sent me a number of forms to fill out in advance, so when I talked to the Dr.Penner she already had a very good idea of my case. She asked me a number of questions, then she spent quite a bit of time explaining how the digestive system works, and gave me a "basic class" in nutrition. Personally, I was open to Holistic Medicine, and to Dr. Penner's experience -- in fact, I was looking specifically for a different approach from today's "status quo" Pharmaceutical-driven Medicine. I've read some of the negative reviews, and I think the issue with Dr. Penner basically comes down to: whether or not the patient wants to heal & balance out their WHOLE body to eliminate the problem, or just wants a quick fix. For me, the knowledge gained from Dr. Penner helped explain where my issue originated. I got on a supplement regimen, a "protocol" of about 2 months, and began feeling better within a week. Yes, I did invest some money in supplements -- but this is something I do, anyway! (So, I had to spend a little more on my health over 2 months; I spend more on Sushi! And when my mechanic says that I need to spend $ on an oil change, I don't call him a Quack -- what's wrong for a Nutritionist telling you that you need o purchase nutrition? ) Now, almost a year later, my issue is completely resolved -- as side benefits, I also learned how to eat better, and have given my health a stronger foundation.

I went to Dr.Penner when I was 17 because I had really bad back pain (my shoulders were uneven) and I went there ONLY for the chiropractic care and she told me "no, you're also getting nutrition advice". Then the entire first half of my appointment was her just talking food facts at me and ended boldly with her telling me I was straight up obese. At 17. And I was not obese. I said to myself," okay that wasn't what I wanted or signed up for but hey maybe the next part will heal my back and everything will be fine." She then laid hot stones on my back and then left the room for the remainder of the appointment. I had to pay like $200 for that. She's such a joke. I'm almost 30 years old now and I still think about that encounter sometimes. Just how one truly awful and unprofessional lady can change how you see yourself.

Life-Changing Results -- But You Have to Do Your Part Too…read more I attached a few before-and-after photos below so you can see where I started versus where I am now. Working with Tatja was one of the best decisions I made for my skin. From day one, she was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and understanding. What stood out most was that she genuinely cared about my progress as a person, not just as a client. You can tell she wants people to succeed and feel confident in their skin, rather than simply treating it like a business transaction. That being said, I want to be honest with anyone reading this: you have to be willing to put in the work too. Tatja will give you the roadmap, but it's up to you to follow it consistently. For me, that meant: Following my skincare routine every day Managing stress, sleep, and recovery as best as possible Drinking plenty of water (lemon water became a staple for me) Cutting back on acne-triggering foods and habits Eating more whole foods like lean meats, salmon, avocado, sweet potatoes, and leafy greens (romaine lettuce was my favorite) Being more intentional about what I put into my body One thing I noticed was that cooking more of my own meals and eating out less made a huge difference because I knew exactly what was going into my body. As someone who lives a very demanding lifestyle between bodybuilding, sales, training, and the general stress that comes with pursuing big goals, my objective wasn't perfection--it was getting my skin as clear and healthy as possible while still moving my life forward. Thanks to Tatja's guidance, my skin is probably 95% clearer than when I started, and the difference in my confidence has been incredible. Honestly, if I had a less demanding lifestyle and could follow the routine perfectly every single day, my skin would probably be completely flawless. The fact that it's nearly flawless while still balancing everything else in life says a lot about how effective her guidance has been. If you're looking for someone who genuinely knows what they're doing, cares about their clients, and will help guide you through the process, I highly recommend Tatja. Thank you for everything! -- Tristan

I'm 22 now and mainly struggle with hormonal acne on my cheeks, jawline, and chin. Before seeing Tatja I had tried EVERYTHING. Antibiotics, birth control, retinol, curology, spironolactone.. just to name a few. She set me up with a personalized skin care routine and I go in every few weeks for in person treatments. She also has virtual appointments available which is super nice as well! Tatja has also given me such good advice on how to maintain my clear skin, like through my diet and lifestyle. I highly highly reccomend seeing Tatja if you are struggling with acne. She is the sweetest and my confidence has improved so much. Within just a few months of seeing her I was clear. I am so thankful for the work she does and so happy I found her here in Chico!

When I first met Dr. Mcbee I held back and "tested" him. I wanted to be sure I could trust him before I got too deep into his recommendations. I am here to tell you that Dr. McBee has changed my life. He was so nice and careful. The first time I went to him, he just did therapy to get my extremely tender neck to relax. He asked me if I thought I was ready to attempt an adjustment before he tried it. I felt completely safe and comfortable. The adjustments are smooth and never hurt. I kept having inflammation issues and then started my journey with Dr. McBee in the land of nutritional supplements. I was skeptical here as well. I'm a healthy eater and take care with what I put in my body. I was already taking vitamins and probiotics etc. Dr. McBee tested me and has completely changed my entire health outlook with his recommendations. I went from fearing I would forever be stuck on my medications to very slowly being able to cut back on them. I have less pain and inflammation. I wake feeling more and more rested with each day. It will be a long road to getting truly healthy again but Dr. McBee has given me a light at the end of the tunnel. I highly recommend you book an appointment today.

I saw "Doctor" Penner 8 long years ago and I had such a completely traumatizing experience with…read moreher, I still think about it to this day and I want people to know so you can maybe avoid it too. I'm 26 now, so I was 18 at the time. I just saved enough to go see a chiropractor in Chico and she was really close by and her title was Chiropractor/Nutritionist. When I showed up, I had to wait outside for about 15 minutes until the secretary showed up to let us in, and then when penner showed up, I walked into the room which was like a doctor office trying to be a spa (A hoSPAtal, if you will) and I sit down and she asks me what's going on and I said I've always had some back problems and when I sit with my feet out, they noticeably rest differently, so I wanted to look into that. But I made it clear I just wanted a chiropractic adjustment. It was a 90 minute session for about $200. She had me walk in a line for 10 paces and said "I don't see anything, you're good" and I was like alright..and then I sat in the hospital spa bed, her in the regular chair, she said, ya know I'm a nutritionist as well, so I will be asking some questions about that. I said, I'm really not here for that, I just want the chiropractic work. She said, well I'm both a chiropractor and a nutritionist, so you're paying for both things. And I kindly said alright but please prioritize the back adjustment. And I remember when I said that her energy shifted, so maybe she did this as a punishment, but for the next 35 minutes, this lady not only said I was fat, but that I was "ON THE VERGE OF MORBID OBESITY." You guys, I wish I had a picture of myself at 18 to show you (no I don't) so you could see how not even CLOSE to fat I was. She could tell it was upsetting me but I hadn't found my voice yet and I thought "she's a doctor this is medical information I need", trying to rationalize while dissociating the fucking trauma of a thin old lady saying you're bursting at the seams. After she was done, she had me lay back into the chair, and as she walked over she noticed my feet. HUH wouldn't you know it my feet look weird in their resting position like I said they did and she was like HUH they are a little crooked! (And then she never acknowledged my feet again) She had me lay on my back and gave me a limp, very gentle arm massage like she's just putting in the hours (barely), and does a little neck thing, then she's like "ok I'm gonna leave the room, please take your shirt off and lay on your stomach." So I did. And then I waited like that for 10 minutes. When she came in, it was a gentle "heyyy how you doinnn" like yeah dude I'm great can we get to the fucking bone cracking part?? and then, ladies and gentlemen, she did another timid and sad back massage for maybe 5 minutes and then. LAID HOT STONES ON MY BACK AND LEFT FOR 25 FUCKING MINUTES. Not even kidding, I was about to fully get up from the table but the polite 18 year old who hadn't found her voice wasn't doing shit. She just laid there, trying to remember she's in control of the situation. But eventually dr goddamn penner came back and just took the stones off my back and said "alright! you're all done."The rage flooded through my body and I could feel my face go red. She left the room and I put my shirt on holding back sobs. I know it might not seem like a huge deal, but that was at 18 when I was working really hard and money was a scarcity, so to save $200ish to have some of my back pain released- just to have a stranger say to my face that I'm on the verge of obesity and then just put hot rocks on my back was not okay. And at 18 yrs old that was really fucked up Dr.Penner. I don't even know if you'll remember me, but I remember walking home, sobbing violently, calling my mom and her telling me that when I calm down, call back and demand a refund. And I did, and you and the secretary both basically laughed at me and said it's a medical procedure so it's non refundable. I remember building up all the courage I could to say "well thanks for wasting my time" I was a kid. And you were supposed to be a doctor.
