Over two weeks ago, we made our stop here to watch the Barbie movie. I wanted to watch it, he did not, but since we fell into the Barbieheimer marketing ploy, well... I had seen and accompanied him to Oppenheimer, and so, it was now his turn to see and accompany me to Barbie. Anyway - had never been to this movie theater, but it's a pretty standard one. Many theaters, lots of big screens, free parking, and well, you can buy popcorn. What more could you possibly want? A bit more life in the movie theater, but I don't think that's the movie theater's fault. I'm just used to crowds. Do note, though, that due to this lack of life, you should either buy your tickets online or head inside and buy your tickets at the concession stand. There's a section before entering where you'd typically purchase tickets, but alas, it was empty and that had us confused for a bit. read more

This movie theater is falling apart outside with wasps everywhere. There selection of candy is not bad. The seats are moist and it smells like sweat in there. I got stung by a horsefly IN THE THEATRE. Over it could be better. It could also be worse though. read more

I like Regal because it is in between my work and my house making it convenient for me to slip out of work early to see a movie before heading home. It's also within walking distance of a bus stop, a mall, three shopping centers, several restaurants, a grocery store and a couple convenience stores. That said, this is definitely the lowest rent theater in town. Of course, its low rent status comes with pros and cons. Pros: Regal doesn't tend to draw big crowds, so for folks like me who don't like watching films in a crowded theater, this is a good option. Parking is never a problem. They usually have interesting food options (eg dorito nachos). And, of course, their prices are often lower than the competition. (For example, today is a Monday, and a standard adult matinee ticket to the latest Star Wars film is roughly $9 at Regal, $10 at Challenger, and $11 at AMC and CMX.) Cons: This place is old and shows it. It's not filthy or anything like that, but the screens and chairs tend to be smaller and less comfortable than newer theaters. If you like the modern fountain machines that are self-serve and have a million options, you won't like the handful of behind-the-counter options here. There's no alcohol and no made to order food. But the main drawback is probably safety. There was a shooting here a few weeks ago; and, judging by the armed security, that probably wasn't the first incident this place has seen. With all that said, I probably go to this theater more than any other in town and would recommend it for anyone who's fine with a no-frills viewing experience (at least, during the day). read more

Don't bother coming to this theatre. It is in serious need of a remodel. The outside is crumbling and infested with wasp nests. Theatres 6 and 7 had the air conditioning fail, which happened to be the theatre we would be watching the new Indiana Jones movie. It was uncomfortable to put it mildly, in 98 degree Florida July heat. Avoid it until the ownership actually treats their customers right, and remodels. If they won't, then it should just close down at this point. Also another bad sign - there is a warning posted that no one under 18 can attend a movie after 7:00 pm unless accompanied by an adult for safety reasons. I'm concerned about leaving my car in the parking lot here, let alone taking my children. No way will I ever come here again. read more

Hadn't been to this theatre since 2019; had a nice experience; went during the early afternoon to beat the crowd; great customer service; though I am now a fan of the reserved seating/gigantic seat movie experience, I still like this theater in that it brings back loads of memories; though it may be a bit outdated as far as the seating, it is always clean and the staff is always nice; plus, I just love the "movie nachos." read more

Wish I'd read the reviews before buying tix but I'm traveling and searched the nearest location. I also got dropped off here so was stranded. I regret it. Concessions were deplorable. Only Doritos chips for nachos when the menu showed tortilla chips. Then there were no hotdogs ready with a 30 minute wait for the next batch. This is an older theater which would be excusable if it weren't also sad in the customer service department. Pick another place to watch a movie. read more

Interesting. I paid for tickets via the internet to see the new Avatar movie. We just walked right in and sat down. No one asked me for my ticket info or anything. There is no security here at the theater, despite its history. I will be getting a refund on my tickets soon. This is crazy. read more

Growing up in Tallahassee, I only knew of three movie theaters: Movies 8 (dollar theater, now definitely not a dollar anymore per movie), AMC (at the financially collapsing Tallahassee Mall) and the Regal at Governor's Square. I didn't watch movies here as much as I did at AMC, since AMC was slightly closer, and back in the day, some stores were actually still open. Parking is plentiful, although in a shared parking lot as CHP (doctors' office). The line for movie tickets was insane outside on a rainy Saturday afternoon, and self-checkout kiosks were not available. We were already running late for the movie, and we ended up walking into the completely packed auditorium right as the movie started, skipping all the previews. The concessions area is huge. It takes up most of the large lobby area, so while the lines seem long and hectic, it didn't seem so bad. Since we were running so late for our movie, we skipped the popcorn and soda this time. Regal at Governor's Square is a movie theater I didn't frequent as often, and as I went back again recently, doesn't look like it's been updated since my last visit. It's older than the AMC (per my parents, the AMC has assigned seating and reclining chairs, as most newer theaters do). The front two rows in our theater are on the floor with no incline, so we sat in the second row (reserved for handicapped persons, but no one else was walking in behind us). There was plenty of room in the front for more seating but it seemed wasted. That, or maybe it was a fire hazard and I just don't know. I do wish there had been a fire, though, because I felt like I was sitting in a refrigerator. I think the cold air was blowing right on me or something - I thought I was going to freeze. I'm not sure if Black Panther was just that popular after almost 2 months after release or that particular auditorium was just that small. Whatever the reasoning - there just weren't enough seats in that theater for such a big audience of paying customers. The bathrooms are a bit meh, as the theater is a bit older. See the recurring theme? I was glad the women's bathroom was located right outside my auditorium since I had to run out in the middle of the movie after all the tea I had consumed at lunch. Seeing as there aren't many movie theater options in Tallahassee, I know I can't complain. However, it may be about time for an update. read more

Nothing special about this theater other than the pricing. Most items on the menu is a la cart. We prefer options that have drinks included. The kid's snack boxes are good. After the shooting incident, it's difficult to want to return, especially since I have children I don't want in harms way. read more

As others have pointed out, we hit up Regal to watch a movie at a reasonable price. There's absolutely nothing flashy about it. Maybe it was flashy at one point in its life, but no longer. Just do what I do, keep your head down and head directly to the theater. read more

Three stars seems about right for the Regal movie theater. In light of the advancements of the other major theater around town, Regal appears to be a bit behind the eight ball. However, in opposition to the other player in town, Regal offers a better value (price wise) for afternoon showings. *Until 3pm you can purchase an economy ticket for $5.15.* Keep that in mind when on this side of town and looking to play hooky from work. Regal certainly isn't flashy, but sometimes a movie is a movie. And here, that's exactly what you're paying for. read more

Tallahassee really needs a good moving theater. In some ways, I prefer this theater to the AMC Theater across town. Regal Cinema hasn't changed since it first opened 30 years ago. It has an old feel to it - the smell of buttered popcorn that has been absorbed into ever fiber of the building. It is a perfectly adequate movie theater, and a little bit like going back in time. But not awesome, like going back to 1930 or 1950, instead it is like going to see a movie in 1995. I am sure they have updated the technology over time, but it just doesn't feel that way when you are there... It is worth noting the pre-movie entertainment that Regal presents is better than the AMC pre-show. And, modern movie theaters that are competing with Red Box, illegal digital downloads, netflix, and/or renting movies online through multiple sources - they have all become more comfortable with more innovative ways to entertain. They are offering food, drinks, and comfortable chairs. Regal hasn't made those adaptations yet. We will see what the future brings. read more

Tallahassee, FL: Regal is one of four movie theaters in town. Offering decent prices (discounts for students are always available), Regal reward perks, great customer service, and showings not found elsewhere (they were the only theater in town taking part in the Studio Ghibli Fest), this theater has some definite perks that keep me coming back. Being that it's the closest theater to my house doesn't hurt either. Nonetheless, this theater isn't in tip-top shape. The seats are okay, though reclining seats are much more preferable (thanks for spoiling me AMC). The rooms often get stuffy, and even smell mildewy at times. And sadly, the volume control could use a little work. I'll keep coming back though and will cross my fingers for a remodel sometime soon. read more

Movie start time was supposed to be 7:30p, 25 mins later, of ads, the movie started - the website and tickets were misleading giving the run time and start time, we got out much later than projected/expected. Is this the norm now? $17 for popcorn, soda & a box of junior mints... and they hijack your evening. I was able to get two adult tickets for $16.99 at Costco, so I saved a bit doing that. The theater was clean, surprisingly clean since it is exactly the same as it looked in 1995. They're doing a good job of keeping it up. The experience makes me want to buy a DVD (or three), and watch them at home. Heck maybe a could get BlueRay for the splurge we spent at the theater. read more

I come to this theatre pretty often because its close to me. I wanted to watch the movie "US" with my wife and baby(Sleeping). The manager told us we couldn't watch an R rated movie with a child under the age of 6. I did say I come here often, right? This isn't the first time we watched an R rated movie with a child under the age of 6. However, this is the first time we heard this policy today. We planned our day and made special plans to come to this theatre only to be disappointed. There are a few other issues this theatre should be more worried about than what a sleeping baby won't see. This is unacceptable, I've given this place too much of my hard earned money. read more

I love that this movie theatre is not only closer to my hosue than the AMC theatre in the Tallahassee Mall, but I also like how the movies are so cheap if you go for a matinee or duringt eh summer when tickets become $5. :) Nothing like seeing an awesome movie for 5 dollars. The staff at this theatre is alright, people who take the tickets are always super nice though. The seats are really worn in, but not broken or have holes in them or anything like that. Not the biggest theatre in the world, but you get what you're paying for. The only real problem that I have with this movie theatre is that the walls are not as thick as I would like. Sometimes when a dramatic movie is having a quiet moment and the audience is supposed to be introspective on what the characters might be doing or feeling, all of a sudden from the theatre next door you can ehar a bunch of yelling and shooting and stuff like that. Makes me giggle everything and then I get distracted. Not sure what could fix this, but it is a reccurent problem. I have not stopped going, even though this has happened a lot. read more

Smaller movie theater of two mainstream theaters in Tallahassee. This one is not as nice as the other at the Tallahassee Mall--older and not as updated--but is not too bad. On the east side of town near the Governor's Square Mall. Auditorium seating and decent concessions but feels old and a little dirty. Plenty of parking. read more

This theater is usually clean and has all of the latest movies. However, as with any Regal, the prices on concessions and tickets are ridiculous. A small soda is $5.25 - that's insane. And a combo of popcorn and two sodas is $20. You could eat a decent meal before coming to the theater and spend less than that. Also, the seats do not seem to recline, which is something that most theaters are upgrading nowadays. I'm sure they'll get around to it (all of those $5 sodas have to go somewhere, right?) read more

Perfectly adequate is the best way to describe this movie theatre. The prices are much better than AMC and you don't ever have to worry about getting a seat. Yet, it definitely is not the most comfortable of theatres. The lack of decent air conditioning especially can make the spaces pretty stagnant in terms of airflow. I prefer this theatre only because I hate the annoyance of AMC's individual seat ticketing, but I have certainly visited nicer and more updated theatres. read more

We typically patron the other theater in town but the movie times at Regal were more convenient tonight. The women's restroom was atrocious with paper towels and trash all over the floor. Toilets were dirty and water all over the counters. For me, a theater is just a theater, until the bathrooms get all nasty and unsanitary. read more

I remember when this theater was built, and when the AMC popped up across town with stadium seats this theater had to play catch-up and retrofitted the theater. But that's the nature of this theater - a runner up always playing catch-up. read more

Pretty good set up here. It's a smaller theater but it's till nice. Like to sit in the top back. Employees were all very courteous, and service at the concession area was quick. Free refills if you wish to gt up in the middle of the movie. read more

This theater is the worst in Tallahassee. The food is not great between the burnt popcorn and off brand candy. They have a lower price over AMC which is nice but they attract rude and annoying people. When I say rude and annoying its an understatement. This theater has no crowd control what so ever. The people behind me talked and commented the whole movie and when asked to be quiet they were rude and cursed the girl out for telling them to be quiet. I have never had this problem at the AMC theater in town and from now on I will be going there. Regal needs to update the theater, fix the food situation and find out how to control the crowd before I ever return. read more

I enjoy this movie theater so much! I got myself a regal card the second time I went! Which is awesome... I got a free popcorn just for seeing a few movies. Oh and the popcorn is delishhhh. This theater is always less crowded then AMC and the workers are extremely friendly and nice. This theater is a whole lot cheaper then AMC too, and on top of that they offer several deals and discounts throughout the week. I believe if you go on a tuesday night the movies are only $5. So it's a little old and could use a little reno. Who doesn't nowadays? They at least have up to par picture and sound quality. And the concession stand is complete enough with the standards. And since the price is right, it really makes for a more than adequate movie theater. I agree with another reviewer regarding the thin walls as the same thing happened to us while we watched our movie, but I find that to be a common problem even in newer theaters. read more

Went to this theatre tonight and about 20/30 minutes into the film I begin to smell something burning. A man sitting next to me went out and told some employees about the issue and they said they would "check it out." 5 or so minutes later, not a single employee has come inside the theatre. Suddenly, smoke begins to pour out of one of the air vents. It wasn't until we all began to storm out of the theatre that the employees began to take the issue seriously. As I was walking out, the employees who were coming in literally began to cover their noses and mouths​ because the smoke was so bad. They preceded to tell us it was an "AC issue" and "comped" us with a couple of free movie passes. Not only am I in complete shock with the lack of response from the staff when they were told about the burning smell, but I am also pissed because the beginning​ of the movie was excellent and I am going to have to return to this crappy establishment in order to finish it. If you're going to the movies, I would advise you choose AMC. read more

Worst movie experience that I can remember. The theater is smelly and old. The popcorn is stale. About 50 minutes into the movie a shush this teenage girl who has been talking constantly. She takes the gum out of her mouth and throws in at me, which hits me right on the neck at the hairline and sticks in my hair. I yell something like "what the f***" and walk out to tell the manager. The manager, who appears to be a pubescent 18 year old male, questions the girl and then kicks me out for cussing. read more

I would give this theater 5 stars if would PLEASE devote A COUPLE of their TWELVE screens to showing Cinema Art films that used to show at the Tallahassee Miracle 5. After all, Regal used to support 5 screens for Cinema Art films. Now Tallahassee has none! This is a university town with many, many people who enjoy Cinema Art films. When Miracle 5 closed, it was a sad day for culture in Tallahassee. read more
