After several nights in Vienna without having tried schnitzel, I was on a mission to find an…read moreauthentic spot on my last night here. Found this cozy spot a few blocks off the Stadtpark and figured I'd give it a shot. So glad I did. it was pretty packed when we got ther, we were able to get a high top table after just a few minutes wait. Ordered the beef tartare and schnitzel. Be forewarned, they don't skimp on the portions here. The tartare was delicious and came with a salad and about a half of stick of butter, which was interesting. Schnitzel was big enough to feed at least two people and left me feeling like I had finally experienced a real local meal. Wine was also great and made me wish I could have stayed there drinking it all night. But alas, I had an early flight to catch the next day...

Quite tight seating. Restrooms are not accessible by people with limited mobility. No baby changing stations. The food is okay. The schnitzel was fine and so was lamb. Okay to eat but not memorable. Caprese salad was tasty. In conclusion, if you are passing by and hungry, feel free to stop by. If you are looking for a memorable lunch/dinner experience, plan to visit a different establishment.

Ah, I hate to leave low reviews for vegan and restaurants with vegan options, but I always have to…read morebe honest. I made a reservation for 1 before coming here and when I arrived there were two empty tables outside. I asked if I could sit at one and they declined saying it was reserved. Okay, got it, so I took a seat inside. No problem. As time went by and I waited on my food, a couple walked up and asked if they could take one of the tables and sure enough, they were accommodated. I believe, because I was solo, they wanted to reserve the outdoor tables for couples. It was a lovely evening to sit outside. I ordered a traditional Austrian dish and I simply did not enjoy the combinations of flavors and textures. I would try something else to see if it was just that dish I did not enjoy. The time came to pay when I was informed that they were cash only. There should be better signage outside and possibly inside stating that it's cash only. I had to go to an atm to get cash out as this was my last evening in town and I didn't have any more cash on me. The meal price went up due to me incurring atm fees. I posted a picture of the "cash" sign they have outside; can be easily missed if you're not looking up. Sure enough when I left, there was still a table available outside. (-_-)

The restaurant is casual and hip hop music played over the speakers during our visit. I ordered the setian steak, and it was fantastic. The setian was perfectly cooked and accompanied by a decadent sauce. Overall, I would recommend Landia for creative vegetarian food in Vienna.

Wish I had not waited so long to review this restaurant as my memory of the specifics of the…read moreexperience are a bit hazy as we patronized the restaurant nearly 6 months ago.. Finding the restaurant was a bit of a hassle but the experience was worth the effort. That said I want to see this restaurant stay in business and also help jewish visitors to Vienna have an easier time finding Kosher establishments, so I here provide a rough summary of my experience. This was the second of two kosher dairy restaurants I patronized, and only the 4th kosher dairy meal I ate during my 2 months in Vienna July-September 2012. The restaurant is a corner location on a quiet "back" street a few blocks from Taborstrasse in/near one of the former large, pre-war jewish sections of Vienna. This in combination with the fact that the management doesnt seem to make a significant effort to advertise where non-Vienesse could easily find them. The decor is very nice and clean with a bit of a modern style. The main dining area is substantial in size although it didnt appear as so at first as the room shape has a bit of a "Hook" shape to it. There is also a "banquet" area that can be partitioned from the rest of the restaurant. As I recall they offer beer and wine along with typical coffee, tea and soft drinks. I believe they also have some hard alcohol beverages available as well. I wish I could remember examples of the variety of foods available on the menu as their website does not make available an electronic version. Unfortunately, that means my poor memory of our meals is the best available for your introduction. I can say that the food was very good. On one visit my girlfriend and I ordered separate pizzas. She ordered a pizza similar to one you may find in the US. I ordered what might be called a "salad" pizza. It included lettuce, hard-boilded egg, a white sauce instead of traditional tomato sauce and I believe onions and olives. It sounds strange but it was actually very good. If you go searching for this restaurant keep in mind a few things. First, know that the restaurant has only one sign on the building and at the time I was there their hours were not posted. It is a very large sign and it is quite high above the entrance but it sits flat against the building so if your path approaches the restaurant from the north (coming from Taborstrasse) it is very difficult to see. Second , the entrance was not clearly marked, can at times be locked even when open, and the interior lighting tends to be a bit subdued so going after dark may lead one to believe that it is closed. You could make your search easier by stopping at the Kosher market near the old Milk and Honey location, the previous incarnation of this restaurant. The market has the same owners as Novellinos so direction requests will not be resisted.
