Apparently you…read morehave to read the very very fine print which states that all new accounts have a three year contract - this wasn't on the initial application nor was it stated to us by the salesperson. You honestly have to click on a link and read through the terms and conditions until you get to a subsection with a specific clause to find out this information. Obviously, we were extremely disappointed to pay the fee but we were even more confident that we made the decision to switch to Square. The customer service at Moneris is hit or miss. Some folks are very helpful and understanding, while others lack compassion and professionalism. I will not name any names. If you are considering Moneris, BEWARE!

I signed up with Moneris through a…read morerecommendation from my bank Harris after I got ripped off from another credit card processor and I clearly stated I did not want to be locked into a contract. The sales rep stated no problem if you want out you are out. Well 4 months later they were not saving me anything and were charging me over 2% on my sales. My company does high volume and this was a substantial amount. I started using a new company and never thought twice about it until a few months later I noticed Moneris was charging my bank account $40 a month. I called to cancel and immediately received an email stating they were going to debit almost $6000 from my account for early termination. I asked where the 3 year clause was and they directed me to the fine print that stated "Subject to terms and conditions on our web site". REALLY!!!! When I complained I said well when I read the web site I read it said if I terminate I get all money back that were charged for fees! The rep barely knew how to respond and that's when I said "Yeah, you see how stupid that is" Like stated earlier by another yelper the contract does not state 3 years any where. I contacted my attorney and he said this is a legal business practice now a days even though you are signing a written contract. BTW they did debit the $6000 from my account and it took 2 months to get it back and had to switch back to their processing. Then they lowered my rate to 1.35% on transactions so they can keep me once my contract is up. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN....... Why did I not get this rate up front with the amount of sales I do? It is because they rip you off until you learn there is something better out there.
