I actually told the owner, Michele, before I left that I didn't want to leave this review because I don't want them to get so busy that they won't be able to fit me in! Just walking in the place is beautiful. Taking a tour of the facility I was able to fully realize just how big and wonderfully renovated it was throughout. There is a completely separate spa area for massage, meditation and (one of my now new favorites!) Sunlighten's infrared sauna which I had never heard of. It helps with relaxation, can help with weight loss, riding of toxins, muscle and join pain and more. I bought a monthly package, felt FANTASTIC when I left and can't wait to go back this coming week! Additionally, in comparison to other infrared sauna packages in the area the price was very reasonable and a savings. A full hair consultation was done as to what I wanted, what I didn't want, what my concerns were and she was more than happy to answer my questions on products used. I was offered tea and coffee while waiting and had really enjoyable conversation while my hair was being done. When my hair was done I was honestly just amazed - she nailed exactly what I wanted! I had base, highlights, low lights a trim and face frame. My hair color was a natural blend just as we had discussed and the only trimmed what was needed to keep my hair healthy. Very welcoming staff. I've been coming here for several years to the same colorist. The other stylists are always engaging in conversation and it's nice how you get to know them and they look forward to seeing you every month. This is a full service salon, offering facials and massages in addition to haircuts and color. My colorist/stylist is there by appointment only. This is the 2nd time I've been here - the place is spotless and soothing. The receptionist was very kind and sweet. Before writing this review I will tell you I will try this place one more time. The first time I went it was a very relaxing hour long shampoo condition cut and blow dry and style. It was about $60 including tip - all worth it. This time (as before) I didn't request a stylist. When I asked I was quoted $45 with shampoo and cut and blow dry. The was perfectly in line. When I arrived I met the stylist and taken to her chair. She wet my hair with a spray bottle and cut it. It was an ok cut - not great but not what I was expecting but she was very friendly. It took all of 20 minutes and then I was told the cut was $20. No style was included. Wham bam! When you are out of town and needing a "cut" you sometimes take a chance at where you end up. Sometimes those chances do not turn out very well, but at Regency Salon & Spa - I met Margena - who was totallly awesome. Before I get to how wonderful she is - let me tell you a bit about this place - or at least what I know. This Salon and Spa is located in a little plaza - right by Saskatoon's, which is another favorite place of mine. There is normally plenty of parking and today was no different. After trying another place down the street without success - I came here and walked in without an appointment. The young lady at the counter quickly found someone who was willing to cut my hair right away - no wait. Though I do recommend calling ahead. Sitting for less than a minute - I looked around and found the place to be clean - really welcoming and even more important was the mix of folks inside who were all smiling - as if happy to be here. Folks from a little toddler to an older woman who was helped back out to her car by the staff - that's the type of service one would expect here. Margena took me into a small room - "her" room where the magic happens. I've been explaining what type of cut I want for a couple of years now and never seem to get what I want. Margena - seemed to really listen to what I said and gave me the cut I have been looking for - it really did make me look younger - now that's amazing! However, something happened before she put the scizzors to that hair - and that was her hands. You can imagine my surprise when Margena gave my upper back, shoulders, neck and my head a nice quick massage. It was as if she knew exactly what I needed. I feared the cost of this service, but wasn't going to say stop. She said everyone is a bit stressed out these days - so the little massage must be common. Is this why women go to these salons and I have been missing out?? After my quick but very much appreciated massage - she went to work with scizzors and clipppers until she felt I was done - then brought me into another room for a wash - OMG - her hands are like magic - it wasn't just a shampoo - it was an incredible head massage - I think my hair was even dancing around! Getting back into "her" room - she put the finishing touches on it and then I put my glasses on - amazed!!! Finally - someone had cut my hair exactly how I wanted it and I couldn't wait to get into the Camero with the top down, sunshine, blue sky and the wind rushing through my new hair cut! In about 5 weeks I will be back to Greenville - again for work, but this time looking very much forward to another cut at the Regency Salon and Spa with Margena! If you live locally and are looking for a great cut at a great price - stop in here! Margena - if you read this - thank you very much - you made my weekend stay in Greenville on business worth it! Let me just say, I have lived in many places. Chicago, Washington, DC, Knoxville...and the absolute best hair styling experience I have ever had was at Regency Salon. Suzanne does my hair and she is a very special lady. She helped take all of my ideas and formed them into a perfect coloring job and haircut. When my coloring job didn't stick 4 weeks later, she would not stop until she figured out how to modify the formula in order to give me the best results. Not to mention, prices are very reasonable and the staff are so friendly. They provide education about the science behind their services as well. I can't say enough good things. I have been trying to find a new stylist since I moved to Greenville a few months ago. I went to regency because they seemed nice and most of the stylists have great credentials, but somehow I was handed off to the bottom of the barrel. This was the worst experience I've ever had in a salon. I tried talking to my stylist afterwards, but even after I followed the protocol very strictly she insisted that I must have done something wrong or must be taking a medication I didn't tell her about. I should start off by saying, I have always been extremely hesitant about having my hair done by anyone but my regular hairdresser back home in Canada, I have had so many hair horror stories in the past that I do not want to relive ! My regular hair dresser has cut and highlighted my hair for years and I would rather wait 8 months until I'm back home then go anywhere else to avoid a possible trauma ;) (yes I'm mellow dramatic) She knows me and what I like so I guess you can say I am a creature of habit and I tend to stay in a comfortable zone when it comes to my hair. I met Margena a couple months ago through a good friend and instantly she recognized that I was in desperate need of a tune up ( this is an understatement I hadn't had scissors or highlights to my head in over 7 months ) I put it off for a while.. Typical me. But when I saw the work Margena has done on my friends hair I was sold! It was absolutely gorgeous. I saw Margena later that night and quickly made an appointment. When I walked into regency salon and spa I knew it was a place I could see myself going to again and again. Very clean, beautiful decor, good energy. I was excited when I sat in margenas chair which was located in her own private room. Margena is a very kind, bubbly, and fun lady. She does whatever she can to make you feel comfortable when you're in or out of her chair. She started off by giving me a neck, shoulder, and arm massage which was awesome ! I realized quickly that she knows what she is doing and is great at what she does. She asks lots of questions to get a handle on what she needs to do for each customer.. She explained to me that this is important because everyone's hair is different and it helps her focus on certain aspects that needs to be addressed when it comes to color. She started my hair off with a dry cut, I love dry cuts so I was glad that she was a hairdresser who does them. I have gotten these done for years rather than wet cuts and I highly recommend them and I would also highly recommend the way Margena does this it was like nothing I had ever seen a hairdresser do before but when she was done, man I loved it! My hair went from poufy and boring to voluminous and beautiful, And I hadn't even had highlights yet. I was really impressed. Next she started the highlights, she did a partial head of highlights to frame my face and get rid of my "root rot". When she washed my hair she took extra care and time, it wasn't a rushed experience it was relaxing. She then dried and styled my hair all the while being her bubbly and exciting self. She also gave me a quick tour of the salon which was beautiful. I love my hair and I would definitely go back to Margena. She's is GREAT and I highly recommend anyone like me who is hesitant to branch out from their usual to see her if you're in greenville. You will not regret it.
