At any given time, 50% of the washers and dryers in the laundry room are out of service. Elevators are frequently out of service. If you need any repairs done, be prepared to escalate and file with the LTB over basic maintenance. There's no central A/C, and at the time of writing this, the seasonal fee is $300 per unit. Many tenants are legally owed money from the landlord and have not been paid. Really think about renting here if you value your sanity, time, and money.

Iam a new resident at Grenfell and I have had nothing but an exemplorary experience with Valiant and the staff here! Starting with Ana in the office, who is a wonderful, friendly, hard working and kind person who was an integral part of my coming to Grenfell. She manages so many buildings and tenants and is superb at her job. The staff here at Grenfell (Tom, Josh, Marie) are amazing! Moving day was an absolute dream with Marie greeting us with her friendly smile, putting the elevator on service, prying the moving door open and offering up any help we could need. Tom and Josh had moving dollies for us to use which were so handy for all our heavy items! All, if any, issues were immediately addressed. I found my new apartment suite absolutely immaculate, clean, freshly painted and bright and sunny. I have already met a few neighbours and notice that everyone I pass by in this building greets with a friendly demeanor and a hello...you feel like part of a real community here! I had come from a horrific rental experience with another property management company in Oshawa, who only cared about "the bottom line" and money (which of course is important, too) BUT, they didnt have any humanity when dealing with tenants and their wellbeing, and what a complete 180 to come to Valiant and have feel like someone actually cares. The building staff keeps the grounds immaculate, and every week the landscapers come and do a stunning job of sprucing up the grounds ~ so green and lovely looking from my apartment :) Great job, Valiant! I hope this review is seen by the right people because you deserve to hear these accolades as I am very impressed. Now there is so much dog poo all over the place outside we feel trapped. It would be nice to move someplace with refreshing outdoors. Due to the uptick in fecal matter everywhere I allowed my dog to use dirt to pee in. I was notified not to do that even with snow on the ground and flower plucked. We then used the grass. Because of the filthy property per say, every animal and person in my home is sick starting with the animals. If you plan to move someplace youre children can run outside look elsewhere unfortunately. The entire backfield has dog poo issues with random needles about. Then your own property also can get you sick riddled in fecal matter. I wish I hadn't moved here knowing we no longer can be safety outside unless we drive elsewhere. Really wish the grass wasn't so filthy, my whole family got sick now stepping in other dogs stuff at 119 nonquon. really wish i knew it would be like this before settling... so trapped now with economy... if you have kids or animals, safest bet is to find a cleaner area to live. our quality of life has dropped so much over the months. i mentioned how much dog poop was everywhere nothing was done, unless it was to notify about dog pee in garden dirt with snow over it, so obliging we now suffer the consequences. our quality of life has dropped for a while here, something changed over the years, and now we are stuck with a sickness not easily going away. think twice if you have kids or animals, they deserve clean grass. this isnt right.

I have lived here for a year and by far the most awful place I have lived (and I have moved around…read morequite a bit). There are bugs constantly there and no matter how many times someone comes in to "get rid of them" they come back! Cockroaches come out of everywhere and really invade the place. The staff and management do little to help and the elevators are never working. In a day I sped about half hour to an hour waiting for elevators and they spend their money redoing the lobby instead of fixing the elevators. Highly recommend you don't come here unless it's your last resort. I don't know a single person who lives here who doesn't complain about this awful place.

Clothes didn't get rinsed properly, and my mother suffered itchy skin rashes on her torso. We didn't know why. Finally we noticed by chance that the washers didn't fill, and switched her to "free" laundry detergent at half measure. Management said everybody knew about the washers because they sent around a notice. Problem is not all residents can read and understand notices, and family members who actually do the laundry didn't know, resulting in unnecessary suffering of residents.

Last year, we moved my mom into Harmony Hill. After an extensive leak in my mom's apartment…read moreceiling, they had to move her to a temporary unit while they did extensive repairs to the apartment to fix the leak and the subsequent damage. After months of construction and renovations to repair the leak and the subsequent damage, we were thrilled to hear that they were ready for my mom to move back into her original unit. However, after surveying the unit prior to moving my mom back in, we were appalled at the state of the unit as everything was covered in drywall dust. Everything - her shoes and jackets in her closet, her clothing, her kitchen appliances, her bedding, etc. drywall dust was everywhere! When we brought our concerns up to management, we were told that in their opinion, the unit was in an acceptable state for my mom to move back in. They also told us she is no longer welcome or able to stay in the temporary unit, that they had moved her into while the construction and renovations were underway, now that they feel her apartment is in acceptable condition to move back into. Shame on you Harmony Hill Retirement Community. Our seniors deserve better.
