We discussed all the things that needed to be done and made plans. (extractions, cavities, a partial). Today I went for the extractions. I was pleased with my initial visit. I'm even more pleased now. Dr Ji and his staff are friendly and helpful. Dr Ji described what he was going to do and told me what to expect. He was aware and observant to any indication of pain or discomfort and asked several times how I was doing. (It seemed much more intentional than any other dentist I've seen. Usually, it's a perfunctory question and they are going on with their work without bothering to listen. Dr Ji moved his hands for my mouth, asked if i was doing ok, maintained eye contact for a moment, then resumed work.) After the extractions, he told me what he'd done (one extraction was difficult and he explained why and what he'd done differently than expected). He also thoroughly explained aftercare, the reasons for it, and what i could expect, including the unlikely, but possible undesirable outcome (dry socket) and how to avoid that. I am very pleased I chose Dr Ji for my dentist. I look forward to having my teeth in much better shape soon.

Dr Howard was very personable and chatted up Troy's charms and made several food suggestions. He cleaned up the bridge and recemented it back in place. He also suggested some future work that will be needed. Price was reasonable.

The only reason they are not getting a one star is that everyone was very polite (in particular,…read morethe woman who did my x rays was EXCELLENT and very patient). However, this is the definition of chain dentistry. I wanted to just get a simple cleaning, and was told I'd be able to do so in my initial phone call. Two days before the appointment, they tell me they will put me on a "treatment plan" before I even get there. I informed them that this was not what I was told the appointment would initially be but decided to keep the appointment since no other dentists had open appointments. Between the Dentist and the Hygienist, they looked at my teeth for at most 45 seconds before declaring I needed FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS of dental work. Upon further research online, I found that Aspen Dental is known for being aggressive with treatments, and I have seen many people say they went to this place and were told they needed a procedure for gum disease before going to a traditional dentist and being told that that is not necessary. I will give the disclaimer that this was about the chain of Aspen Dental nationwide and not about this location in particular, but it certainly matched my impression of this location. I am not making any accusations, but I will state that it is very hard not to feel ripped off when less than a minute of looking at my teeth can amount to over four thousand dollars of treatment. If you come here and Aspen Dental recommends what you might feel is an aggressive care plan, I would implore you to seek a second opinion because procedures cannot be undone, and when I was there, they did their best to make every procedure sound as pressing and time-dependent as possible. To top it all off: I didn't even get my teeth cleaned! I've never had a dental office not do that at a checkup, and I truly believe this is not the worst oral health-wise I have ever shown up to a dentist, so the lack of teeth cleaning was rather surprising.

They sent me an email the next day to reply confirming the appointment. Today they called me to confirm the appointment and said they always confirm it verbally and I ask why bother with send an email and got no response. The lady then ask me to hold for the actual office to talk to me. I was in the middle of something but I agreed. Another lady came on and began again requesting verification of the appointment which I had just did with the other lady. She then started asking about insurance, which I had already completed online and I asked why I needed to give it again. I expressed my opinion regarding how unprofessional they appear. I ended by telling her I had already given all that info and confirmed the appointment and would see them at that time. This is my first experience with Aspen Dental and even though I yet to even set foot in the office I am already second guessing my decision to choose them.

I went in to see Dr. Eades. I had two appointments here. The first was a consultation to discuss…read morewhat needed done, and the second was for the procedure itself. For my first appointment, I went in and spoke with them and they looked at my tooth and some images and we agreed on a root canal with local anesthetic. When I checked out with the front desk after my consult, they said they weren't sure if my insurance would cover the cost and they would let me know. They said that out of pocket, it would cost around $700ish. Later that afternoon, I received a call telling me that my insurance went through. So, for my second appointment, I checked in at the front desk and was asked to pay for my procedure in advance - I was asked to pay around $150, and I assumed that was the remaining cost after my insurance. Weird that I was asked to pay BEFORE the procedure, but whatever. During the procedure, I was injected with quite a bit of anesthetic under my top lip. Then, without speaking to me or asking if I was fully numb, the dentist came in and began drilling on my tooth. After I screamed from the pain, he injected MORE anesthetic in my lip. He continued drilling and I screamed again because I could still feel the drill. At that point I asked if he could numb the backside of my tooth/roof of my mouth. He obliged and without waiting, continued drilling. I STILL felt it. He then decided to inject anesthetic directly into the nerve itself which was excruciatingly painful, but I was willing if it meant I wasn't going to keep feeling him drilling into my tooth. He immediately continued drilling after injecting the nerve, and he was able to work for maybe a minute before he reached a spot where I could feel again. At this point, he was scraping the pulp/nerve out and I could feel EVERY part of the procedure. At no point did the dentist ask if I wanted to continue, or make the decision to halt the procedure because of how severe the pain was. I think my favorite part was when the dentist turned on a torch and heated his metal instrument and stuck it inside the socket, and not only did I get to smell my own flesh burn, but I got to FEEL it too. So, I left what was easily the most traumatic dentist appointment I've ever had. I'm now one month post-op and am absolutely petrified of seeing another dentist and I have lasting nerve damage in my lip from the sheer volume of anesthetic they injected into the same spot (with no increased effect). I can't smile or kiss my boyfriend now without pain and being reminded of this horrific experience. Oh, and I was mailed a bill for $300+ when nobody communicated with me at ALL regarding any costs aside from my first estimate when I was quoted an out-of-pocket cost of ~$700, and my second visit after I was told my insurance would be accepted and I was asked to pay ~$150. Suffice to say, I don't feel responsible for this bill. Not after that experience and definitely not after the lack of communication and clarity around the costs associated with the procedure. ​
