I was dropped as a patient in need of cataract surgery because I lost my job and have been blocked by my former employer from getting unemployment and am unable to pay $200 from a previous bill. The cataract surgery is 100% covered by my insurance. I spoke to a manager there and was told pay the $200 or be dropped as a patient, instead of working with me. My eye with the cataract is very blurry and in need of immediate surgery, but all Regional Eye Center cares about is money. They are doctors and have to take an oath "To first do no harm." But I guess it is ok to harm when a paltry $200 is involved. I suggest avoiding them for any of your vision needs. George Snider read more

I went in for my annual eye exam and renewal for my glasses. Everyone was very nice and professional and the doctor was very kind and jovial. Everything was great until I took my prescription across the hall to the optical shop to have my eyeglass prescription filled. The woman in the optical shop was very rude and dismissive. She told me my insurance would only cover $250 for frames and lenses and $150 of that was for the lenses alone. The problem is it left me with $100 for frames and not one of those frames in the optical shop was under $100. I asked her what were the cheapest pairs they had then because I am on a fixed income and had already spent all of my money on bills. She told me to just look around and acted put out. Of course I have low vision, I could not read any of the price tags. The frames I really liked and wanted were over $200 for just the frames. She continued to act put out because I kept asking how much ones I liked cost. (Again I could not see the prices listed on the tags on the earpieces.) I had to get what I could afford and ultimately I felt like the shop was gouging on the price of all of the frames to make a profit off of them because insurance was paying at least $250 maximum. She figured it up with the pair I ultimately picked, but did not really want, just because they were the cheapest pair I could find. She told me I would have to come up with $58 before she could put in an order for the glasses. I have two forms of insurance and usually if you exceed what the primary is willing to pay, the secondary will cover it. She kept telling me she could not do that. I felt like this woman was thinking I was an idiot who didn't know my stuff, and she was treating me accordingly. (My insurance company told me that she could have definitely charged my secondary for the balance over the main insurance allowance.) I left feeling dejected. I talked to a friend who told me "don't worry I'll loan you the money for the glasses." She called them and was told I didn't owe anything because I was fully covered and said to my friend, "I had to refigure it, and it's sometimes more or sometimes less depending on what frame they pick, what extras they want like progressive lenses, etc." And while she told me that when I was there, I sat right there and watched her figure this up and told me I owed $58 which I didn't have right then, and I didn't even have enough money for a down payment so I was again told "well if you come up with the money then call and we'll order your glasses." I called again and asked when they would be ready and was again, treated dismissively and told "we'll call you when they are ready" and acted like she didn't want to talk to me at all. I did tell her at that point if I had known I would not owe anything, I would have picked one of the pairs in the same price range as the pair I ultimately ended up with because I didn't actually like those and was told, "oh well, too late to fix it now I ordered the pair you gave me." Yeah a pair I felt pressured into getting because she didn't take the time to recalculate anything while I was still there and I just picked the cheapest pair I picked up because I didn't want to end up paying too much out of pocket. I had to use a medical ride service to get there, otherwise I would have just taken my prescription and gone elsewhere. It's crazy to me that there are other in network places around I could have used that would have let me get one or two pairs for $20 a pair lenses included, which is why I believe the optical shop part of Regional Eye Clinic is gouging on the cost of frames for its low income customers. I did find out I could have gotten the ones she quoted me as being $250 for the frames alone, ($150 out of pocket) for $15 online. So if I had been evaluating the eye doctor alone, I would have given a 5 Star review, and the optical shop alone it would have gotten 1 Star. I went somewhere in the middle only because the doctor and his office staff were both awesome. The optical shop part of it treated me like I was stupid and was very unprofessional and rude, both in person and on the phone. And now I have to deal with her again when I finally get my glasses and a "don't call us we'll call you" type of statement. read more

The only pepole to get a star at this office is the front desk and the tech who did the work up before the doctor came in. Dr. Lance Brown is very unprofessional. If an emergency comes in the office and the doctor gets held up, understandable. Is it possible that a nurse or a tech could come and let the rest of the patients who are waiting know what the hold up is? Thats not too much to ask. Also, you should have known by looking at the chart he was epileptic and cannabis is legal. Why the need to bring it up like it's wrong & shameful? read more

The larger woman at the desk with the undercut hair was EXTREMELY rude to my client. I would have addressed her by her name but she clearly didn't wear a name badge for complaint reasons. I am pretty sure she is the reason for most people will not continuing services there! She had the audacity to get an attitude due to my client not understanding her insurance. She is an older woman and like most insurance coverage can be confusing. It was no way to talk to anyone. She had an attitude my client didn't hear her. I see why this place doesn't have good ratings. There's too many patients scheduled all around the same times leaving no room for sitting and they move slowly which backs up the other appointments. It got crowded and too many people walking or standing around. There was another desk attendant who was sweet but the other lady was so rude even to her and that's her coworker. Like come on. Very displeased with her service and how she was treated. There are a lot of older patients who will be in there, she needs to get a grip, fix her tone, and her face! read more

Arrived at the Regional Eye Center - Outpatient Surgery Dept. Beth at the front desk was very rude and kept complaining that a couple of patients and family members arrived early. She re had a bad attitude Overheard her call another employee on the phone and complained about the patients She needs to be more professional, helpful and courteous !!! read more

I have to tell everyone how wonderfully understanding and helpful this place is! My elderly dad had a stroke a month ago, and Was in the hospital for 4 weeks. Mercy lost his brand new glasses. I called Regional Eye Center, spoke with Meagan and not only was she able to get Dr. Sherrod to approve dad's current prescription, Meagan wax able to get him the very same frames and even offered to deliver the replacement glasses to dad's rehab facility! This kind of customer service is nearly unheard of in this day and age! The John Campbell family are now huge fans of R. E. C.! read more

Appointment set for 1015 however, it took 57 minutes wait to be ushered into the exam area. A 15-20 minute wait is not unreasonable but, 57 minutes is rediculous. If I had known it to be this long I could have shown up at a later time. Staff should be more mindful that a client's time is just as valuable as the physician. read more
