I had been recommended to go to Dr. Nick by a friend and after researching him online, I finally made an appointment. He is one of a kind dentist and ahead of his time with his knowledge and technique. It is awesome we have such a dentist in this area! The office is really nice and everyone who works there that I have encountered is so friendly and helpful. The woman at the front desk is so warm and friendly. I wasn't feeling particularly anxious, but I was told it was free, so I agreed. I was quickly given paperwork to sign, which I did willingly, though I should have taken more time to read it. What was not explained to me verbally was that this involved an injection in my neck. When I realized that, I froze but went along with it. After the injection, I was told the doctor is writing a paper on this procedure and was then asked whether it helped my anxiety, which immediately made me uncomfortable and made me feel like a test subject rather than a patient. Later, when reviewing the consent, I saw listed risks such as temporary phrenic nerve blockage and infection, risks that were never clearly explained beforehand. Instead, it was described very casually as "feeling like having a mimosa." When I called with concerns, the staff were kind and understanding, but I was told I would know if something went wrong because I'd have extreme difficulty breathing. I wish that risk had been communicated before the procedure, not AFTER. The staff were friendly overall and there were no complications, but the lack of transparency and how casually this was presented felt unethical to me as a patient. While I did sign the paperwork and take responsibility for that, clearer verbal communication and informed consent would have made a huge difference.

I was a new patient (and from out of the area) and therefore I expected the typical routine of having to go through a full examine, consultation, x-rays, etc. This is what usually causes me to 'put-off' going to the Dentist. Although I understand the necessity, sometimes I feel it's just a bit much and overwhelming. I had a small need/concern with my tooth and Robert Hodous took me right in, addressed and fixed the problem. I was extremely impressed at the fact that he didn't push a 'new patient' work up on me and make me go through all the motions before fixing the problem. He and his staff thus far have been completely painless. This alone is something I am not use to. They are also very friendly and did not take a big chunk out of my wallet when I went. I recently had a crown replaced and a filling. The wait time was almost nothing. Dr. Patterson is a military man and is very organized and structured. Not having to wait in the waiting room is also a new experiance for me when going to the Dentist. His Dental Hygienist Candy (I love that she's named Candy) is so nice and friendly. She also understood that I have very sensitive teeth and was just great a doing a job that needed to be done that I just am never going to be fully comfortable with, but she was wonderful. I adore him. Truly. He's kind and gentle. He knows how to put me at ease. I'm admittedly a big big baby when it comes to dental care but I trust him completely. He relates to fear and knows how to help. I have taken meds for years before dental visits but with him I'm able to go in without anything. I highly recommend him to anyone but especially for people like me with A LOT of dental anxiety. Sara is my hygienist. If you go in ask for her specifically. She was a dental assistant for two decades before she became a hygienist. She's super gentle and incredibly intelligent. She offers me new ideas and tricks when I come in. She remembers me and what we talked about last. She asks about my kids and talks freely about herself. I love that! It makes me feel like I matter to her even though I only see her twice a year! Lastly, the office manager, Tricia, is super sweet and knowledgeable. She's a patient of the practice as well and she knows everything about the practice. She's worked as a dental assistant in the back for years, in the front office, and as the person you talk with if you want to have any cosmetic or aesthetic done. She's Dr. Cha's right hand and I've come to truly enjoy chatting with her. She loves what she does and you can tell.
