The Southern Credit Union

The Southern Credit Union

I had a great experience here at the Souther Credit Union in Morrow. The gentleman I worked with…read morewas Jameson and he was very kind and good at explaining things to me. I came in to get a car financed. The process was complete within a few days. I came early in the week and by Saturday I had found my new car and was driving off the lot. Highly recommed a credit union if you are done with bug banks and want more personalized service.

I decided to join a credit union versus the major banks after really having bad experiences with the major banks (i'll keep the names of the other banks anonymous for the sake of being a nice person). Location: Conveniently located in Jonesboro next to Morrow, Georgia. This credit union is off of exit 231 on I 75 south. There are plenty of stores nearby such as Publix, the farmers market, Plato's closet, and many more. There are also great restaurant to check out as well. Service: The few times that I have gone inside, service has been very welcoming and the patient. The wait is not nearly as long as other major banks and you are guaranteed to get the service you need. I especially appreciate the fact that they have drive-thru hours on Saturday. Bummers: Some negatives is the fact that there are not many locations located around metro Atlanta. However they do offer something that I believe is called Bank sharing where you can go to another credit union branch and have the same service rendered that you would at your home bank.

This bank is a complete nightmare!!!!! I wouldn't recommend my worst enemy deposit a dime in this…read morebank. Nothing has gone smoothly with them. My no fee business account was charged fees and they claimed not to have received a mortgage payment despite showing them evidence that the funds were withdrawn for my account at another bank. That issue took four months to resolve. Now they have had my insurance check for 7 days and when I called I was told it hasn't been processed yet which will take another 5 days. Meanwhile, we have storm damage to repair and we are out of our home. The service is UNBELIEVEABLY horrible. I am in shock. Every time I think they can't be worse then the last experience, they fool me and are 10x worse. A 0 would be to high of a score this institution.

I wanted to drive out of the Ford dealership with a new Explorer, so the salesman effected a loan…read morewith Truist @ ~5.54% (60 months) which was fine, although I thought Ford would be the financier. Whatever, I let the salesman earn his commission and that kept me from chasing down a loan with my bank while sitting at the dealership. Despite advice from the Truist webpage to wait three weeks to make the first payment, I made it the day the account came online instead of letting interest build for 30-days. I mistakenly opt to have Truist pull the money from my checking account out of simplicity. That mistake gave Truist insight into every transaction I made in that account. And every transaction was replicated on my Truist account page! Whoa, says I, that is not going to happen one more day. I delinked as fast as I could and began a direct payment. I then tried to link the Truist account via Quicken on my PC. The link would not work; but a Quicken pop-up message advised I call Truist for help. Help amounted to them wanting to know what Quicken was! Huh? I asked to speak to a manager. The manager asked, "Why are you using Quicken?" Huh?! I eventually leaned that to make such a download, I would be charged $9.99/month. Huh?! I replied that they were crazy. The help insisted that Quicken charged Truist for my download. I said they were crazy and that I would not bank with Truist another day. I hung up and began processing a 36-month loan with my online bank (that begins with US and ends with AA). Needing a 10-day payoff amount, I got the amount on a second call with Truist - and their loan was paid off three days later, not including the weekend. Unlike other reviewers, I did not have to worry about the title swap. AND THEN, a month later (today), a Truist Alert email arrived indicating that "We couldn't complete your recent transaction request due to an error during processing. Please start a new transaction request to send your payment." Huh?! First, I made no transaction request; and second, I have no active account with Truist. I called to see what silly explanation they might have - the help said it was an "errant email." Huh? I am glad to be rid of that bank. If you have any sense, you will put your money in a bank that knows what it is doing. That bank should not be Truist.
