The doctor lifted my shirt and immediately proceeded with the procedure without properly explaining or preparing me. When I expressed that I wasn't comfortable yet due to my inexperience, I felt judged and was spoken to in a way that felt scolding rather than supportive. It was especially uncomfortable because there was another person in the room who was never introduced, so I didn't know if they were assisting or observing. The hospital this Doctor referred her too has a terrible reputation for C-Section as its percentage of C-Section was around 40% at one point and Im sure it still isnt good. We believe that the totality of circumstances lead to what was an unnecessary C-Section. Was it necessary or not? According to her it was but we believe she lead her into this. BEWARE. This man is a MONSTER!!!!!!…read more I waited more than 2 hours for my appointment at the Great Neck location, which is the worst gynecologist office, with the rudest staff I've ever experienced. After they called me in, the technician/nurse asked me if I was sexually active, and when I disclosed I wasn't because I'm a virgin, she commented, "Oh, you're not missing much anyway." After waiting for Dr. Stavros Lazarou to examine me and meeting me for the very first time, his very first comment after looking at my chart was, "Don't have children, you have too many health issues," which I had no intention of exploring with him, and found that comment to be extremely dismissive and insulting. When he proceeded with the pap smear, he used a device that caused me to feel excruciating pain! I was yelling ouch, and he would just say, "Open your legs wider and bring your body down more!" I told him, "It really hurts!" to which he replied, "Why didn't you tell me you are a virgin?!" At this point I was in so much physical pain, and now emotional pain because of this heartless monster! I was thinking, shouldn't his judgmental and rude nurse have relayed the message to him that I am a virgin and shouldn't he have used the appropriate equipment to examine me in order to give me a pap smear?! After he finished, he got up from his stool, told me passively and unenthusiastically, "Nice to meet you" and walked out while I was still naked, with my legs still in the foot stirrups! He didn't once say, okay you can get up and put your clothes back on, and I'm sorry it was so painful. NOTHING. When I left that office, I went home crying completely devastated, and to add insult to injury, I noticed I was bleeding when I got home because of him! I called the office, and his advice was if the bleeding continues, go to the ER. This whole ordeal happened probably 2-3 years ago, and I didn't think to write a review at the time because I just figured I would find a better doctor and leave this experience in the past and behind me, but it wasn't until I became intimate with my partner that I became triggered by this trauma because that was what it was - a trauma. Dr. Stavros Lazarou traumatized me! He violated me, abandoned me when I was most vulnerable, and thought nothing of it. He is a monster and I'm writing this review so that hopefully another person doesn't have to go through this horrible experience that has now scarred me for life. You have the ease of several comfy and accommodating lounges while you wait. Access WiFi and have tea until your provider is available. The assistant and tech staff are the consummate professionals. Today was my first time seeing Damilola. I came in to have fibroids checked. The tech did the ultrasound giving me a play-by-play of what she was doing and why. Damilola came in shortly after. Her temperment was very calming. She introduced herself and explained my results, answered my question and expressed care for other health issues I'm currently navigating. Overall, she was very culturally responsive and that's huge for me as a black woman. Viva Eve is a 10/10 for me. Love it here!

I visited this practice over a year ago to confirm a pregnancy. Since it was very early, the doctor…read moreasked me to come in multiple times over the next two weeks to "confirm" the pregnancy, which seemed excessive. Each visit included a urine test, internal and external sonograms -- all of which felt more like requirements than options. It quickly became clear that they try to schedule as many appointments as possible, likely to bill more. Even after my pregnancy was confirmed, they kept asking me to return -- sometimes every other week -- for unnecessary follow-ups. Each visit involved at least an hour-long wait. I was initially told the practice was in-network with my insurance. However, after a few visits, I started receiving unexpectedly high bills. I was then informed I needed to sign over the insurance reimbursement checks directly to them. I did this for a few visits, but eventually stopped going because it felt like they were more focused on billing than care. Even after providing them with all the checks I received, I'm still being sent bills. I contacted their billing department multiple times -- first in November, when they told me it was just an automated message and not to worry, and now again, only to be told I need to contact my insurance and have the checks reissued. Save yourself the stress and go with another practice. This one has been nothing but a hassle.
