Homemade goodness! Besides my own kitchen, this is one of very few places I eat at. Always made from scratch. Always served with a smile.

There's also an upstairs so I assume that more tables are up there. To start you queue up at the counter and pick your meat and put it bun. Ask the guy to recommend the rest because he's got lots of sauces. Then choose veggies and you're nearly there. We also added a coffee which was way too good for a deli. The sandwiches were delicious. The amount was just right. The bun is not huge so you won't be stuffed with bread. It can get messy because there's more fillings than bun but don't worry because there are three washrooms to wash your sticky fingers. Seriously I haven't enjoyed a new place in Edmonton this much in a long time. As for the location... Well eventually it might be okay. It's fine during the day. I highly recommend Patricia Street.

Staff were friendly and service was good. ~$14 for a sandwich. A little smaller than expected but the options for what you want were amazing. ~$6 for a bowl of soup, which was delicious! I would definitely recommend, it's a cozy space to bring some friends.

To fully understand our experience at the Hillbilly Grill it's helpful to see it within the whole…read morecontext of our accidental visit to Westlock. We unintentionally ended up in Westlock as a result of a minor medical emergency (don't worry, everyone's ok). While we're waiting for the doctor in our shared room, we observe the cast of characters that Westlock has to offer. Patient number one is this old guy getting injected with a bag of blood who asks the nurse why she's wearing gloves. She explains, to his horror, that she gets a new set of gloves every time she sees a new patient. He loudly complains that this is a waste - he figures you outta be able to lick your hands and wipe them off on your pants and that should be good enough. I'm thinking, "okaaaay, pretty redneck." Not to be outdone, the next patient is a 30-year-old woman who needs some stiches and treatment for rabies! It turns out that she's an old timey fur trapper who got attacked by a wild animal while dragging a 75-pound beaver through the woods. As it happens, the emergency room doctor who was treating her is ALSO a fur trapper so the two of them ease back and start swapping fur trapping stories. Once we were done, we notice that it's nearly 7pm so we ask a nurse for local restaurant recommendations. She sends us to a "place that looks pretty sketchy" called the "Hillbilly Grill" - by now the terms "sketchy" and "hillbilly" do not come as a surprise. When we arrive downtown, we see that the restaurant is located in what looks like a 100 year-old western hotel. Apparently, someone in the 1970's decided to "update" the building and cover up the classic brick with stucco. This 70's style architectural vandalism continues inside the building as I witnessed the interior décor from 1974. I'm thinking to myself that now I know why God had to create a place called Hell. Our experience completely changed when our meal arrived. We get the brisket and the pulled-pork sandwich and I swear to God that it is the best southern-style barbeque I've had this side of North Carolina. Nothing in Edmonton or Calgary touches the high quality of food I had in Westlock. It was tender and moist with just the right hint of smoky flavour. Simply outstanding! While we were enjoying our meal the owner came out to shoot the breeze with us - a 47 year-old man with a crushed cowboy hat, plaid shirt, shorts, and socks with sandals. He tells us this story about how his restaurant got broken into by a local meth-head. "Turns out it was Donna, you know - the lady who owns the bar across the street? Turns out it was Donna's son Larry! I even took a picture of him as he was riding away on his BMX bike while flipping me off. Actually, I kinda feel sorry for the guy. If you're a middle-aged man living in your mama's basement still riding your BMX bicycle around town - then you probably should examine the choices you've been making." Ladies and gentlemen...Westlock, Alberta! If you're looking for some amazing food at a reasonable price with a truly authentic redneck experience you can do no better than the Hillbilly Gourmet Grill in Westlock.

Oh. My. Dear. Lord…read more Last time I was here I split every dessert on the menu with a friend. Worth every calorie. Today I thought actual food may be necessary, and as I have been craving fried chicken, I figured I would give the chicken and waffles a chance. Presentation: the skull sold it for me. Anything that makes a dish stand out makes me happy. Flavour: The chicken breading was so crisp and perfectly seasoned! No chain can compete with his recipe. No dripping grease, just wonderfully juicy chicken. Dare I say, it was moist. In the best way possible. And the waffles? Wow....just wow. Fluffy and delicious. Price: So this massive portion - which is just as generous as all of the portion sizes - comes in just shy of $17!!! Leaves a little money for dessert, if you have room!

It's quite spacious and you still go to the front for your bread just like the congregation previously did in years past . We both ordered a brewed coffee and Kerri's Special Grilled Ham and Cheese Sandwich for $13.00 in 2024. I can definitely say that it was delicious as well as healthy. Personally I thought it was the best sandwich that I've had in a long time. My partner said it was excellent except that the cheese wasn't melted. I also found the regular brewed coffee to be first rate. Service was immediate and friendly. I didn't check WiFi as I didn't need it, but, there was a sign for free WiFi. This is a great place to stop for lunch and the unique venue makes it an interesting experience. I highly recommend Kerri's in Westlock the next time you're in town. It's just over an hour from Edmonton.
