The greeting was pretty much a list of warnings and rules, not a "welcome" or "thanks for trying us." We brought a gas chainsaw, which wasn't mentioned in the posted policies, but were stopped and told they only allow electric saws because "less liability." (It's still a chainsaw cutting a small trunk... but okay.) The conversation had a bit of attitude on both sides, not going to lie. We used the hand saws they provide, wandered the field with zero guidance, and most trees were under 6 ft with big gaps. Not worth $75 just to check a box and call it a tree. When we came back to look at precuts, we overheard staff talking about us -- not exactly the holiday spirit. We made sure they knew we heard them, wished them a Merry Christmas, and headed out. Overall: Not friendly, not organized, trees weren't great, and the experience wasn't worth the price. Lesson learned: sometimes the place you've gone for years is worth the extra drive.

For a flat rate of $45, they will provide you with a saw and you can choose to cut down any tree on the lot. They have Fraser, Balsam, Norway, Blue, Concolor, and Canaan. Oh, my! Once you chop down your prize, you can drag it back to base Griswold style or Bailey's friendly staff will throw it on a cart and drive it back for you. Back at camp they will shake it and wrap it, then you are on your way. After years of lame store bought threes the week before Christmas, it was time to enter the wild and start a new family tradition. Bailey's is worth the trip from anywhere in the Capital Region and Southern Vermont.

We have a far drive so he made sure to double up tying our tree on the roof of our car. It wasn't too crowded or overwhelming like some of the other places. Everyone was wearing masks, too. I've been going to the same place…read morefor years and paying $25 for the tree but this year the picking were pretty slim so we took a ride over to Vermont and stopped at Pleasant Valley. All of the trees under 11' were $50 and they were all beautifully shaped. We ended up with an incredibly fragrant Balsam fir. We cut it down and they stopped and picked it up from us with a cart, no dragging the tree through the mud to the car. And an added plus, they wrap the tree so it's easy to get in the car and bring it home. We also picked up some incredibly well priced maple syrup from the farm down the road.

He will help you source a particular plant if he can find it in the many fantastic stock nurseries where they obtain their plants and trees, and follow it along to let you know when it has arrived. I thought I was done with maple weekend 2026. I had five maples on Saturday alone! U-turn. Pack into the gravel lot. And... go pet the cows. Yup, this is truly a farm. The barn smells like animals and you can pet the goats. All the staff is friendly and there to explain maple, farming, whatever you'd like. For maple weekend? Excellent. We went into the Calf-a (sound that out) and there was a fairly long waitlist, but passed the time in the maple steam room with free samples! and perhaps the most interesting samples of all. Maple mustard. Various maple dips. And while they were not cheap, the staff did work together to get me some Grade B maple, which is so hard to find nowadays. It's now in my fridge. Once our names were called, we found a great variety on the menu for a very reasonable price. I got two pecan pancakes, fresh made, and my lady got one maple cranberry, made with the cranberries that were used to infuse the cranberry maple syrup. Our table got an entire pitcher of maple to pour as we pleased - yes, I do please. I took a pair of maple donuts to go, and they do not taste like cider donuts. The maple stands out. Fresh made and soft. I know maple is March, but this farm seems like a winner any time of the year you're passing by.
