All very good, The schnitzel was very tasty and tender. The roast duck was moist and not gamey; very savory and succulent. The schweinshaxe was tender but kept the integrity of the skin was intact and crispy. The service was great because we arrived in between lunch and dinner. But it was pretty busy in the "cafe " area. It seems the servers were from university; students working as a side hustle. The beer garden is massive, always lively and crowded, but there are plenty of seats. The atmosphere is exactly what you want from a traditional beer garden--communal tables, great beer, and a fun, relaxed vibe reminiscent of the beer gardens in Germany. It's self-service and cash only: pay first, pick your mug, then get in line for your pour. They also have food windows, although we were here just for the beer. Parking tip: they validate your parking ticket when you buy your beer, so don't forget to get it done! Definitely worth a stop when you're in Salzburg.

Ive now come upon a new favorite; the Berline Weisse. Light color, tart, complex fruity palate and still a good punch of abv. The Briem 1809 Berliner Weisse is a great example of this beer in a bery traditional style. Flavorful and refreshing, great by itself and even better with salty fatty foods.

He had a great personality, infused a lot of humor with all of the information, and was good with people. The beer was very good. There was soooo much beer on the tour and people kept handing me theirs (I don't know why). Needless to say, I was feeling it by the end of the tour. There was an interesting beer-based shot drink at the end that was good. Again, people kept giving me theirs and the tour guide poured me a second one. Geez! At the end of the tour we got to eat dinner. Yum! It was some of the best food I had while in Germany. There was also a quiz to see if you got some kind of certificate. We all cheated. Lol There was a nice little gift shop that had a variety of things for different interests and ages.

There were so many options for decent souvenirs here, I was amazed. We desperately wanted to purchase the Bierstein that was akin to a pony keg....it was under $100 US! We didn't have a way to get it back home unfortunately, and we didn't trust the postal service not to break it. We opted for the more manageable liter one instead, along with some coasters, a hat pin, t-shirt, and a metal brewey sign. I have been to other breweries and never had this historical perspective. Other breweries just show you their massive and impressive brewing apparatus. This museum, located in the basement and not containing currently operating brewing machinery, shows many historical elements, including photos of how they delivered the beer in the days of horses, and the first motor vehicle that was used in the beginning of the 20th century. In fact, that motor vehicle is in the museum and you can sit in it. There is a good tutorial on hops, and the various grains that can be used for different purposes, ranging from traditional barley to a gluten-free grain. At the end of the free tour, they give you one bottle of beer per person. After the tour, we went to the beer hall to eat and drink. There are many food options, distributed among two floors of vendors. Much more satisfying than just ordering off of a single menu.
