    Beer in tap

A traditional Austrian beer hall. We got there around 5:30 and the tables were filling up. It looked like such a great time there were food stands all through the hallways with different types of food. Everything from popcorn, pretzels, sausages, ribs, chicken, and of course, Augustiner beer we were so excited until we realized it was cash only and we only had a few euros on us. We went back the next day with plenty of Euros for lunch, only to find out that the beer hall doesn't open until 3. We were able to eat lunch in a full-service restaurant on the premise, which was very nice and since we had euros, they only took credit cards. Thinking the third time's a charm, we went back at 6. It was a Friday night and I guess that's where everyone from Salzburg goes after work. It was packed, the food booths had long lines and there were no empty seats at any of the tables. We never got to really experience the traditional beer hall. Suggestion for the future...bring cash, go on a weekday and go early to get the full experience.

    Grab a stein!

Augustiner is one of my favorite German beers, so I was excited to see they had a brewery in Salzburg. As described in other reviews, it is a unique experience to grab a 0.5 liter or 1 liter ceramic stein off the shelf, give it a rinse at the rinse station, go to the cashier and pay for which kind of beer, and then have it filled. As far as the fill, I was disappointed as my 1 liter stein was only 3/4 full of beer, and the rest was foam. The draft beer was limited to the lager and the bock. There are 3 large rooms with lots of communal seating. I did notice a lot of tables had Reserved signs on them, so it appears there are lots of regulars! There is also a large outdoor beer garden, but the tabletops had been removed for the season. There are several food stands with almost something for everyone. We had eaten at the Christmas markets, but got a "Greek salad" from one of the stands consisting of cucumbers, olives, peppers, and feta cheeses coated in a Greek style dressing.

Amazing experience! Great food stales and great beer. Pick your own mug size, pay and head to the wooden keg. Very cool seating area, we went outside.

A snack of ham and sauerkraut. It just tastes better here.

A Bavarian gem!!! It was a wonderful walk from central Salzburg and worth every step. It gets 5 stars for atmosphere and 5 stars for food. A plate of ham, breads and pastries have never tasted so good when enjoyed in a lively and friendly Bavarian beer hall! We went to Octoberfest just after this stop and would have preferred the Augustiner Brau any day. Don't be intimidated as to where to sit or who to talk with, just ask if a seat is taken, grab a beer and some snacks, relax and enjoy! Explore the entire place. It's really a simple type of impressive that you can only find here.

A lovely restaurant with super cozy vibes across several unique spaces inside, and plenty of outdoor seating amidst the hubbub of the Mülln neighborhood. I went full predictable and had the chicken schnitzel with amazing potato salad. Because it is about 30C every day with 600% humidity, I got three drinks - a delightful blackcurrant juice which I cut with sparkling water, and because I was working just a 0,5L beer (because how could I not?!). I love that they have small beers!

I'm going to start off by saying if you don't like beer this isn't the spot. I'm not a beer fan and it is very much a traditional beer hall. You get a mug and clean it and fill up your beer there's only 2 sizes. The people aren't like the nicest if you're a tourist and don't know what to do. The food is upstairs and it's various food stalls mostly just meat and fries. The staff at those was nicer. My food was decent, it wasn't anything to write home about. Definitely not my first choice but not the worst !

This beer hall is really great! It's huge inside and has a beautiful outdoor beer garden area for nice weather. It's a serve yourself kind of set up where you pay and pick up your own mug and then have them fill it from actual barrels! I didn't try the food, but there was a whole hall with different food options to choose!

Great service and atmosphere. The beer is some of if not the best in Munich. The sausages are delicious.

The Augustiner Brau in Salzburg is a bit of a hike from the old town, but it's a great beer hall.

We ordered a couple of appetizers to share. One that stood out was their trio dip and I particularly liked the pork belly crackling dip that was served with sourdough bread. It definitely is not the most healthy as it was greasy, but super flavorful with great texture from the cracklings. Another one I enjoyed was their Regensburger Wurstsalat. The sausages were thinly sliced paired with a crispy, tangy vinaigrette which was refreshing especially in a hot summer day. The scallions and red onions added another level of flavor and texture. For main, I ordered their braised pork belly and was pleasantly surprised. Th meat was tender, skin was still crispy and the sauce was hearty yet not too salty. My kids tried their schnitzel and they enjoyed it. However, my husband ordered one of their beef dish and I was told it was dry and salty. I honestly would recommended to just stick with pork when in Germany/Austria and stay away from beef because ever beef dishes we've tried were not good. Overall, this is your typical Biergarten with plenty of outdoor seating and tv's available to watch any sports. Our servers were all very friendly and relatively quick Austrian standard. The only thing is some tv's streamed ahead of others so the people who's watching the slower tv were a little upset as they would've heard the reaction of others before they can see the actions.

After having a great meal last night local suggested we try Die Weiss and he was bang on. Great…read morefood, and plenty of it. The schnitzel was almost perfect, the chicken was well cooked, and we had a great salad as well. The bottle of local wine was also excellent. Our server was fast and efficient if a little thin on interaction. He was also very busy, so that's likely a part of it. The interior is nice, although we only saw a bit of it. The beer is brewed onsite, I'd love to see that, but alas, no. Five stars is what it deserved as everything was really really good!
