I was extremely particular about searching for an officiant for my wedding. I'm Catholic and come from a mixed heritage background and my husband is Muslim. Reverend Dawn was the best officiant ever! We researched high and low for a non-denominational person to marry us, and after many months found Rev. Dawn. There were so many reasons why she was a perfect match for us, so here is a list of things that made us choose her. 1. She is bi-lingual! Actually she is tri-lingual (English, Spanish, and French), but we were looking for someone to officiate our ceremony in English and Spanish and she nailed it! 2. With tons of guidance from Dawn, we were able to tailor the entire ceremony to our style which was a mix of spiritual, and romantic, and cultural. My husband and I were both raised catholic, in Mexican households, but we no longer practice religion. Since we deviated entirely from tradition, we struggled with finding a way make our parents feel comfortable and relatable to the ceremony. Rev. Dawn worked with us to brainstorm ideas, and mix-match her experience with our cultural requests. She even recommended we have a rock ritual embedded in the ceremony to make sure our selected guests felt they contributed to our marriage in the way we knew they did. We had a small (by Mexican standards) guest list and she saw our vision in making them feel special, without making it a traditional wedding ceremony. 3. We got married in a park in Los Angeles, and she was more than happy to officiate there. 4. She met with us in person, scheduled several calls, and responded to emails quickly to make sure that we had all our questions answered, that we revised the final script for the ceremony together, and that we were comfortable with the ceremony. 5. She was very patient with us. This was our first marriage (and last) and had so many questions. She listened to us, answered our questions, guided our thoughts and concerns, and really made us feel like we deserved to have a ceremony completely tailored to us. 6. She let us pick her outfit. Really! I had not even considered that as an option, but she did ask if we had a preference in her suits/dresses and her stole. She told us the significance of all her stoles, which made us feel empowered to pick one that resonated with us. 7. Our friends and family have shared that this was "the most beautiful" ceremony they have witnessed and they could feel the love that was captured in the script. Overall, it felt extra special knowing that my husband and I thoughtfully crafted the ceremony that would make us one union. We looked around for many wedding officiants and we were very impressed to read about Reverend Dawn's extensive experience as a wedding officiant.  We also felt a sincere connection towards her spiritual beliefs. We knew that Rev Dawn would bring together a beautiful wedding ceremony as well as incorporating our beliefs in a creator. While searching for a marriage officiant, we found numerous potential candidates that looked decent but most didn't quite seem to have the experience we had in mind.  We wanted someone who had what it took to get through any unexpected situation in an outdoor setting. Someone who could adapt.....for example: Our ceremony location was not cleared until the very last minute but Rev. Dawn was very understanding and patient, during the ceremony the book of readings fell on the floor due to the wind but her concentration did not waiver, Rev Dawn corrected my wife (in a way that our guest didn't notice) when grabbing the ring with the wrong hand. I also liked how Rev Dawn walked us through the entire ceremony process step by step (being new to all this we definitely needed hand holding). She also answered all of our little questions despite all of the details that we requested that she incorporated into our wedding ceremony... Such as choosing music to play while walking down the aisle or suggesting that we use a bouquet of succulent flowers instead of a traditional bouquet made of common flowers. She gave tons of these little ideas that weren't a part of the package we chose but that with her years of experience she recommended and they made a huge difference for the ceremony.  We loved her willingness to share her many suggestions and recommendations. We wanted our ceremony to be one of the highlights of our wedding. Initially I wanted someone we knew to officiate our wedding but after getting turned down a couple of times by different friends due to stage fright we went online to find an officiant.
