She knows what I like and she made it possible for me see Susan even though Susan's shift was about to end. Susan is a little smaller than most, I think she might be obsessed with her weight. She does give a great massage. She also uses her feet, even though Sunnys isn't equipped with those overhead bars. She will stand in me, use one foot to keep her balance, and then use the other foot to massage the knots out of my back that accumulate near the center of my back. She is located on the upper floor of a chiropractor office. The room is appropriately and calmly decorated to provide good energy. There is little to no sound from the outside and others in the building. She talked to me before the massage to review the information I had provided on the intake form, asked me specifically about my needs, and talked about some of her techniques. During a massage she asked about pressure and my level of comfort with the temperature of the warmed bed. I walked out a new and better person. Her various techniques, ability to read energy and know my needs and focus on problem areas transformed me back to my aligned, energized self. This time, except when I had to interact with her by resisting her pushing/pulling, I was more relaxed and was able to zone out and go somewhere within while she worked her magic. Marla dug deeper into my thighs which had absorbed the result of two herniated discs. Painful, but necessary to relieve stress and increase flexibility. Torquing my hips and legs to open space between my discs. Leaning her weight into my folded knees to help loosen the perpetual tightness in my lumbar spine. The time passed quickly, but at its end I felt great, and almost intoxicated from the work done. The spa allowed me to sit in a quiet room for a few minutes until that sensation ended. They take health safety seriously, and wear masks at all times. Prices are about a buck a minute, so an hour massage runs $60; a 90 minute stay with hot stones (dry) and hot towels (wet), $90. I recommend the longer traditional body work as it provides ample time for deep relaxation, and even a nap in the midst of all the heavy hands being applied by the skilled masseuse. True, the elbows in the trapezius and sciatic notch will wake you up with a jolt, but the release of stress is almost immediate. The hot stones and towels may burn a little at first application, but they cool quick enough to leave no scar, and quickly relax the long held tension in muscles, tendons and ligaments. The final 20 minutes are spent on your feet, and those prying fingers and fists digging into the sole will either cause a temporary spasm or slowly make you love your feet again. Very worth the self indulgence ever now and then. A word about tips. Tipping is expected after the session. The normal gratuity is about $20 per hour, and $10 per half hour thereafter. It is not uncommon to tip more for a particularly good experience. These folks split the house charge with management, and they depend on your generosity to survive and support their families. So, to avoid any unpleasantness as you leave, be prepared to pay what is customary and build it into your cost calculations. If this is bothersome to you; do yourself a favor and don't go. Stick with the more expensive American chains that won't be insistent to avoid the mishugas.
