WORST PEDICURE EVER! First off, this is NOT Spa; it's a storefront in a strip center. There are no comfy spa chairs, no foot massage/whirlpool baths for your feet. Just wooden chairs and a plastic "foot tub" that doesn't even have running water. I was told this was an Asian pedicure! The "spa" doesn't have a restroom either; if you need one, you must exit through the back door and walk down the hall to a common restroom. My $70.00 pedicure consisted of soaking my feet in scorching hot water that quickly became Luke-warm, unevenly clipped nails, scrapping of two small calloused areas with the BLADE edge of CUTICLE nippers (I asked her to please stop!), a 5 second foot massage, followed by horrible polish application. As you can see in the photo, the pedicurist also CUT the skin on my middle toe, there is still sand/dirt around my big toe, and only about 2/3 of my baby toe was polished, and there are several areas where polish is on my skin. If all that isn't enough, my pedicurist's cell phone is also the Spa's phone, she answered multiple calls during my pedi, even returning a call that she missed. BTW, the positive reviews here are obviously not from actual customers, as the other 2 clients in the salon seemed as unhappy as me. My friend and I went to Relaxation Spa for massages while we were on vacation in Edgartown in July. I cannot rave enough about the massages that we received. Emily, the owner, was fantastic. She did a combination of a deep tissue massage along with reflexology and always asked me if she was going too deep or too soft to make sure I was comfortable - but still getting the benefit of the treatment. I went in with terrible neck and back pain and came out feeling so much better and very relaxed. My friend had a different masseuse (cannot remember her name) and was melting when her treatment was over. The spa is located very close to the center of Edgartown, is very lovely and worth traveling to if you are coming from a distance. We called to check if there was availability and as soon as we walked in after getting the okay, two manicurists were waiting for us, which was great. However, the atmosphere appeared to be nothing like the ordinary nail salon. The place for manicures was essentially a long wood kitchen table with wood chairs (a little too short for the tables height) sitting across it. The pedicure station was basically a bucket and chair. When getting gel off I was WAY overcharged and for a basic manicure I ended up paying much more than I wanted. Limited polish supply. My nails ended up looking like they were painted by a two year old and my cuticles were sore from getting pushed and clipped to hard. And to finish it off, there were no nail dryers. My whole experience was NOT worth the $55 I spent. read more

Finishing off our birthday spa day, and it was a major success! The owner was super attentive and kind and genuinely hoped we had a "relaxing" experience. Four people out of our group received pedicures and one had manicure. Everyone walked out super happy and staisfied. Prices are a bit steep, but it was totally worth it. My friend chose this place because they mention on their website all their measures towards sanitation: tools go through an autoclave, foot soak buckets have a one-use disposable liner, etc. She's a Type1 diabetic, so she's pretty picky about that kind of thing. The spa is small, but it was easy to get an appointment. Reflexology foot rub was great. I was impressed by their selection of non-formaldehyde nail polishes. I've never felt angry/disappointed enough with a service to post a negative review, however the experience I just had at Relaxation Spa is worth documenting. We arrived in Martha's Vineyard today and it was raining. I called around 10am to make an appointment for my daughter and I (she's 3) for manicures/pedicures, as the website indicated they do "Little Misses" (9 and under). I'm fairly certain I said she was 3. Anyway, we arrive on time and one other customer was finishing up. There was one woman working as far as I knew (Claire). Claire was wonderful with my daughter, very careful with her little toes and fingers. She recommended we hold off on painting her nails to avoid messing them up if she was going to stay with me, which I agreed was a good idea. She then began my toes. At one point, my daughter ran from her chair to where my husband was waiting at the front of the business. Out of nowhere/from behind me came a woman (the owner, I believe) asking me to ask my daughter not to run as she was doing a massage. Which of course I did and my daughter complied, for a few minutes (she's a toddler!). A few minutes later she got up and ran to her father again. The woman comes out again and starts to tell me to tell my daughter not to run. THEN she took it upon herself to tell my daughter not to run. I told her not to directly address my daughter and I would speak to her. I asked Claire to finish cutting my toenails so that we could leave. My husband picked my daughter up and of course she began to cry as they left because she was so looking forward to painting her nails. I Claire would not charge me for what she had done, which was very kind of her. I tipped her as I felt bad for what her boss had done. She did too. My daughter was not out of control by any means. If she was, I would not be leaving this review as I, like many parents, have had to leave places in the middle of a meltdown. Here's a tip: if the sound of normal toddler behavior will disturb a massage in progress, don't book a mother/daughter for services at the same time. read more

My friend and I went here on short notice for French tip gel manicures and pedicures. When we walked in for our appointment, we were the only ones there. We were helped right away. The spa appeared very clean and both ladies made sure every aspect of the mani/pedi was to our standards. I even got a callous treatment that made my feet feel so smooth! She then did 1 h of reflexology with me. She knew what she was doing and was great with pressure and using a hardwood push stick to work problematic areas. Really great place. I was initially unsure because they don't have the usual spa set up - pedicure chairs, dryers, etc. But what I got was much better. I had a pedicure, manicure, reflexology and a chair massage. All were excellent. I've been getting pedicures for years and this might have been the best. The owner did it and she really took the time to give me an excellent pedicure and talk to me about how important it was to use non-toxic polish, which they do. Give it a try. I was on a family vacation and had a big job interview immediately after vacation ended, and my nails were in sorry shape. It had been over 3 weeks since my last shellac manicure, so it was really growing out. Emily fixed my nails right up and they are now a nice, pale pink and interview ready. My mom also came with my and got a shellac manicure, and she only had nice things to say about Claire as well. The spa is tucked away and in a nice location.
