There is a wide selection of books and a variety of Knick knacks and gift items that bring the store closer to what I see (and shop within) in larger airports I frequent like Boston, Charlotte, or LaGuardia! I was pleased to find markup minimal and on some items non existent, a rarity in airports these days. Spencer's is located a couple of doors down from the new Theo's Italian Restaurant in The Shops at Perry Crossing in Plainfield. Spencer's is always a fun and affordable store to browse with a fun selection of t-shirts, jewelry, games, lava lamps, fun room decor, accessories, lingerie, adult novelties and sex and wellness items. There are tons of things to browse and see so you can easily lose track of time. The staff was young but then I am old. The staff was helpful and friendly, plus they appeared to enjoy their job. Street parking is available, plus the closest mall parking lot is directly behind Theo's Italian Restaurant. Being an outdoor mall, there are parking lots everywhere.

They don't carry as many organic options as other grocery stores in the neighborhood, which is not a dealbreaker. I do like the fact that their shopping carts are not all over their parking lot like many other grocery stores, and there is more than enough parking. To the contrary, there's a persistent weird odor inside the store that's been there for years. Small thing, but noticeable (and not a thing with other stores nearby). The building itself is a bit old and could be updated. Overall, it is conveniently located, reasonably priced, and all employees are always friendly. Solid choice for shopping.

Found this gas station/restaurant on Yelp to try for lunch while in the area. Full disclosure: I…read moredidn't realize it was a gas station until I arrived! But I was intrigued, so figured I'd check it out. Now I had no idea what Leo's offered until I went in. Think gas station/convenience store offering locally made food items, freshly prepared bowls/drinks and kolaches. Second guilty admission: never had a kolache. The nice woman behind the counter helped me choose (they were buy one, get one free)! So I chose one egg and cheese, and one spinach and cheese. They were warmed in an oven while I went to grab a coffee and use the restroom, which was very clean and well-stocked. Pro tip: if you want a latte or another specialty coffee, order at the counter. If you want to make your own, go to the coffee bar. It's less expensive, plus they have a variety of sweeteners, Torani syrups, and assorted creamers (including plant-based). The cash register employee let me know when they were ready to go, and my grand total was less than $6. I picked up a few hot sauce packets from the condiment bar and sat down in the dining area to eat. The kolache itself is essentially a small, light sandwich. The bread was soft, with a hint of sweetness. The egg and cheese combo was perfect for my light lunch! I had a bite of the spinach and cheese kolache before I left, which was even more flavorful and cheesy! Can't wait to have it tomorrow morning. The cafe also features freshly prepared smoothies, coffee drinks, salad/potato/pasta bowls as well as soups, with a rotating soup of the day. There's truly something for every taste. I was really pleased with this fun gas station mash up, and will absolutely drop in again when in the area!
